System in sig is current

Went from an old TRUE120 (Push) to an H100 (Push+Pull)

Idle temps are almost identical (TRUE120: 35'C, H100: 33'C)

However, turning on Prime95 small FFT, the TRUE120 never reaches higher than 79'C, the H100 is hitting 95'C

Not only that, another oddity is that, at idle CPU, my temps in Push/Pull *and* with all the fans disabled, is the exact same temperature: 33'C

something isn't right, I can hear the pump running on the H100, and I have the Pump's 3-pin Header connected and BIOS shows the pump running at it's normal ~2000 RPM

any ideas?

You might have a bad mount. Try remounting it.

nah, I heard Corsair puts some decent TIM on it, so I decided to try the stock shit

and yeah, remounted (using an RV02, so you really have to get creative with how you rotate the CPU block in order to use the radiator on the bottom of the case

totally changed everything

I'm Prime95'ing Small FFT's at 46'C on both cores

I honestly wanna try jacking this overclock even higher

4.5 running p95..... couldn't stay in windows for more than a couple min with my TRUE120 at this clock speed

you put a $120 cooler on a s775 cpu? you are [H]. time to upgrade? maybe?

Paid $70 USD for the h100, but yeah I'm planning on upgrading

where is your rad sitting and how are you push/pulling? do you have 4x120mm fans on the h100 or are you using the rv02 180mm fans + the stock corsair fans? im thinking the rad is getting heat soaked or your push/pull is not proper.

Instead of spending $200 on coolers, you should have upgraded to a quad core.

did remount with the same thermal paste? or did you use something new?

i have an H60 coming tomorrow and am wondering if i should use the stock paste

The stock paste is good stuff and it has a perfect square already on the block. I idle in the upper 20s with my i7 2600K with just a Push setup using 1,200 rpm fans. I load at 80C which is cooler than my Archon was under load. Keep in midn the stock fans are 2,500 rpm and mine are 1,200. I would drop even cooler with 1850rpm GT fans. Love this cooler.

I'm using the H100 with the stock TIM. Temps never broke 70, even when I was priming at 5ghz.

read the whole thread, re-mounting solved the issue

right now, i'm sitting at 26-27'C idle with 180mm's pushing, the 120's on top pulling

yeah its easy to not completely seat the H100... even if it seems seated on the cpu.. take it back off and look at the TIM to see if it was contcting completely with the CPU... if not.. re mount the H100.. i have ran into the issue of it not seating completely the first time a couple times..

I agree with the other assessments, you might want to try resetting the waterblock.

I thought if you remount using already used thermal paste you get air bubbles. I thought you were supposed to clean it off and apply new every time?...

not always, Reality remounted with the stock TIM and since he did it correctly this time, was able to achieve the desired temperatures

I would never re-use already mounted paste. I don't see how anyone could think that is a good idea.

TRUE 120 is one of the best (if not THE best) air cooler on the market, even today. I wouldn't expect anything but a few degrees difference at idle and load....

I wouldn't say the TRUE is the best aircooler on the market any longer.. with the Archon, Silver Arrow and NH-D14 out there the TRUE has been left behind. That said.. The TRUE 120 is still an awesome cooler but has been beaten by as much as 5C depending on which review site you hit.

The H100 should beat it fairly easy.

Someone is out of the loop, many coolers beat the true 120/140, phanteks ph-tc14pe just beats out the thermalright silver arrow, and silver arrow just beats the noctua nh-d14.

Those Phantek coolers are pimp.... Apparently I am even out of the loop since I haven't seen this cooler.

yeah my temps going from the TRUE120 (Push only) in my Raven RV02, to the H100 are monumentally different under full load, Prime95 never goes above 46 now that I'm running my fans at 100%, compared to 65-66'C when I had the TRUE120+Push setup, Idle temps aren't a whole lot different (25'C now at 4.3Ghz, vs 31'C at 4.2Ghz before w/ the TRUE)

Yeah my original mount with my H80 was a bad mount, and I remounted. I am not really a fan of their mounting system, never seems tight enough. I used my own thermal paste also, I feel they put too much on the blocks. I just got an H100 though, so I am going to yet again remount a new heatsink and see what I can get with it.
