Been playing the beta a bit and it's a definite improvement over the competition that's for sure. Matchmaking is iffy right now but that's due to the limited number of invites going out. There's typically around 5.5k players online and double that when the Europeans start playing.
Probably the best feature right now is the lack of a concede option which leads to a lot of back and forth games. Comebacks are a common thing in Dota2 unlike HoN/LoL where almost every game is conceded in some fashion. People actually try in Dota2 and there aren't any dipshits who sit in the well afk cause he gave up first blood or because his team won't concede.
Spectator mode is an awesome feature too. It's a great way to alleviate the downtime when waiting on a group member or sitting in queue for a match. It's also interesting to watch from 'Player perspective' since you get to see their keyboard and mouse movements.
