Dota 2 Beta [H] Steam Group

Been playing the beta a bit and it's a definite improvement over the competition that's for sure. Matchmaking is iffy right now but that's due to the limited number of invites going out. There's typically around 5.5k players online and double that when the Europeans start playing.

Probably the best feature right now is the lack of a concede option which leads to a lot of back and forth games. Comebacks are a common thing in Dota2 unlike HoN/LoL where almost every game is conceded in some fashion. People actually try in Dota2 and there aren't any dipshits who sit in the well afk cause he gave up first blood or because his team won't concede.

Spectator mode is an awesome feature too. It's a great way to alleviate the downtime when waiting on a group member or sitting in queue for a match. It's also interesting to watch from 'Player perspective' since you get to see their keyboard and mouse movements.

I'd love to play with the people you been playin with... cuz I found the reverse, every game i've played had people sulk at the well afk, either on our team or theres.

The never ending cycle of DOTA games.

"Awesome teamplay guys!" Oh man that game was good I think I'll play another!

"GOD @(&$#(*@Y$R I FC)*(*UC HATE THIS GAME!"

I kind of wish they would issue an update, they haven't in the past 2 weeks now, not since 11/17/2011.

I understand not updating Thanksgiving week, but I think they probably won't update till tommorrow. And I hope the update is big!

He posted it before the update came out.

Played a game where I was 17-2, but then I wanted to disassemble an item, tried to figure out how to do it, which took a lot longer than I thought it would, still don't know how to do it. Ended up losing the game because I took too long figuring it out. I also asked my team, then the other team how to do it, but they didn't know either.

I find the UI hard to figure out, but the gameplay is fine, I know how to play the game, but I find myself looking through all the menus to find anything I need.Anyone who played HoN or LoL before should be able to play this without any trouble, but the UI takes some getting used to.

I've been playing with my friends. First time playing a MOBA(?), and I absolutely love it. Tons of heroes to choose from, which provides variety and I like that. But the same map over and over is bothering me. You would think in a game that gives you a huge selection of heroes would have a huge selection of maps as well. My friend made the argument that under a different map certain heroes would be thrown out of balance, and I can understand that.

My favorite hero so far is Sven and Crystal Maiden. My most hated hero so far is Anti Mage, which I think most people can agree. Anti Mage just owns everything, and if it can't it just blinks away. :(

WOW I am freaking retarded. I was just sitting here wishing I could be invited, so I search me e-mail and somehow I never noticed that I got invited on 11/30........

Edit ~ Steam id is: Samson4eit

AM is easy to counter... Get a Orchid or Sheep stick, AM is pretty much dead...

You should try league of legends. They have THREE maps. One standard map like dota2, one 3v3 map, and one map that is capture control points.

BUT ANYWAY, im enjoying the dota2 beta a lot. Last hitting is kinda hard because of the attack animations/lagginess, but at the end of the game, i see most people have really junk last hits too.

Chaos1sHere

I'd like to play with some [H] people! I'm not super good, but I'm not terrible either and I'm getting better.

Orchid, Hex.
Itemwise thats the way to go, but DOTA2 as is DOTA1 is entirely a team game.
Depending on your lineup you work around AM.
Go a mid game strategy if you're playing with mates, its a bit different with pubs. Drow's always a nice counter because she can farm as fast as him, deals straight damage and silence helps out also. Chuck in a few disable heroes and you're sweet brah!

I'm trying to play this but man, the fact that there's no "Center camera on hero" key like in both League of legends (default space) or HoN (default C, I chang eto space though) is killing me.

Mainly because I've gotten so used to it, and it helps a TON when you play character that use skill shots or flashes and just in general, when you need to keep tight control over your hero and specific movements, etc it helps me a lot.

I've found you can have the camera go to your hero with clicking the potrait twice, and found a google to bind the key to f1 (have to hit it twice), but that defeats the point. You need to be able to do it in a split second, and stop doing it in a split second (IE when oyu need camera control to look further away).

Was this not a feature in the original dota? I never played it, I learned of the genre through HoN and LoL, seems like such as imple thing they could easily have in options but they don't.

It was in dota 1, where you would just click and hold your characters picture.
Other than that :S I dont think so bro.

I guess since I played dota 1 I'm used it. But I always have my hero in a control group 1. So I just hit 1 twice and it goes to my hero. Always have courier in control group 2 and hit 2 twice to center on it (unless I'm playing something like chen or the sort).

Can someone invite me to the group? My Steam user ID is WillX907. I've been playing DotA 1 for at least 4 years, and I'm on the semi pro level, and I have DotA 2 beta, anyone care to invite me thanks. I also have a beta I MIGHT be giving out to an [H] gamer if none of my friends want it.

Shotgun? Hehe.
You been in tourneys? I've only been playing DotA 1 for 3 years, but I play local tourneys!

I don't think I have, but I played on Dotalicious, Dotacash, garena, and BNET. I usually play with friends like inhouse or scrimming against online. I was lucky enough to face Luminous: http://www.youtube.com/user/Luminous48 (i don't know if you heard of him, but he's some youtube dota commentary) twice with his friends on Dotalicious. Oh what do u mean by "Shotgun? Hehe"

Oh.. LOL I sorta requested to call dibs on the invite should you decide to like, give it away. If not then thats always fine!

I actually subscribe to Luminous! You vs'd him? How was that?

The bounty hunter isn't how I remembered him, didn't his shuriken toss stun at one point?

he seems fairly weak overall.

LOL i'll see. Have you signed up for the beta? Oh yeah, I think i won once and lost once. They were pretty good. I kinda retired from Dota 1 hehe

I was kindly blessed by a fellow [H]ard-brother with a Beta key!
Thank you so much!
Once it downloads please add me to the [h] team!
I'm over the moon. We we we so excited!!!

It does a mini stun, its enough to stop channeling spells. That's what it's for.
His pretty strong once you get some decent kills. Chuck a yasha, mkb. Some damage stuff, and jinada takes care of everything else.
Just depends on your farm tbh, which is why you should track everyone.
I remember when track only boosted his own gold but it boosts his whole team if theyre involved in killing a hero.

Yep, I just got in. Time play against some bots for a while. I've never played DOTA before, and only played LoL for about a hundred games or so (I enjoyed it). I'm expecting a painful learning process. I thought games were supposed to be fun? =P

Nice. If you come across an invite along pass the magic along to another fellow [H] member -- me! When I got the email to answer the survey I was on my macbook and didn't realize I would be unable to update it or add my PC information so I doubt I'll be invited by Steam anytime soon :(

still havnt got a key yet. fail valve, so much for me owning everysingle valve game.

if anyone has an invite id like one, ive been playing original dota since it first came out, HoN doesnt have the same feel for me

I got my beta invite, and truthfully this is the very 1st DOTA game I've ever played. So far I'm having ALOT of fun but people where not joking when they said DOTA communities are "unfriendly", they're just outright offensive and rude most of the time. Also even though Valve said they would try to match players of the same skill level with each other, it doesn't work very well.
