Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

I've had so many issues since this patch(prior to patch I had little aside from the balance IN game) that I have stopped playing completely.

Lag is making games a fuck fest, shoot, run away, die from being shot when you were shooting just 4 seconds earlier... It's irritating, and completely random.

Not to mention disconnects...
 
No vsync though? Perfect. I want to limit above 60fps since vysnc always fucks with my aim.
 
Damn guys, feel sorry for the problems your having. I was expecting to have problems myself since its probably considered a more exotic setup but other than a lockup or CTD every other day or two days (averaging about 2-4 hours a day probably), the game has run perfectly fine (eyefinity resolution issues aside).

If your having connection issues you may want to look into your network setup. I know with BFBC2 I had constant connection problems and did everything I could think of. Eventually, I replaced my router and that magically fixed my problems. Check over at tweaktown.com, they have a list of ports that BF3 needs open, could resolve your issues with that.
 
I'm dumping this game until they come out with a patch for the patch.
Besides the constant crashing and black screen between maps, the hit boxes are messed up.

This is what I do after each patch, everytime some new patch comes out my game just stops working so i must always wait for some solves.

I learned on Caspian, playing from the RU base cliffs. From the RU cliffs to the hilltop, its about halfway from the center reticle to the 1 lower, 2nd reticle down is good to the base of the antenna I think, 3rd reticle down is from the RU base to the top 3/4 of the antenna.
A good way to range your runs is target vehicles...it should show the reticle indication that you made a hit...not sure about tanks, but I was at the RU base and landing hits on the gunship helo circling the antenna.

Would make a world of difference if we had a rangefinder though.

What's wrong with a gamepad? That's what I've used to fly since Desert Combat and it works great; way better than a mouse. I'd even argue that it's better than a joystick as long as you have the dual analog stick type gamepad.
 
I have not been able to load the grand bazaar map since the patch. It just stays on "Loading Level". Anyone else having this issue?

Wish they'd fix the terrain hit detection. Many times i'd be behind some jagged rocks only to find that i can't shoot around it and need to expose myself more to make a shot go through. I can shoot between corrugated panels, i can shoot through car windows, but i can't shoot between rocks?

Actualy on the EAblog... they specifically say to report hackers using the report profile button.

I just aim at something nearby (far enough that he hopefully won't notice), and watch where my bullets land.

One thing about the angles is that it's easier to track if you give it numbers. If it's close enough that i don't need to compensate, it's noted as a 0, if i have raise the scope halfway between the middle and first line, it's 0.5, if it's a little above that, 0.3/0.4 whatever.

Rather than "It's a smidge below the first bar", i just have to remember "1.15".

I played with MarkedOne and his son Snipes this morning, they are some great players and very helpfull as squadmates. Squad ACE pin players.

GG's guys. Lets check out some 32 man though sometime, that 64 was chaos lol, but still fun :p

When you fire, keep the mouse button held down, this prevents you from unscoping after firing so you can see where the round lands. After that, adjust accordingly.

You can adjust the mouse button to stay scope until you click it again

they should have a rating system for servers, so we will rate it from 0 to 5 stars and an option on servers search to screen them by rating. Of course EA will never do it, they get too much money from servers rents
 
Been stable until tonight. Constant crashing, constant server errors.
I love the patched error to give more details "error, something went wrong"

They need to sort out the issue with hitching/stuttering performance when using an i7 2600k HT enabled. Either it's nvidia drivers or the current game (or both) -- was hopeful it was gone since a few people mentioned it had been fixed for them with latest patch. Also getting a lot of "disconnected from EA ...." when trying to join servers, hmm
 
I just had a weird issue, first time playing since the patch came out. I got out of a vehicle and my character immediately looked up. I could turn side to side but no matter what I did, I was stuck looking at the sky. WTF?

The SV98/M40 are limited to about that range. On Firestorm my clanmate and I tested the ranges and the M98's round disappeared around 975m. We managed headshots of 970.7 and 970.5m, haha.
 
Bought it yesterday for $29. Figured I'd try it out tonight, I can't even launch a game. It freezes before the game loads and then it crashes to desktop. Looks like I'll be waiting until they patch it up.

Did you even attempt to find a solution...or are you going to wait for them to patch out something that isnt even the problem.

Make sure it's set to "Run as Administrator".

It amazes me all the issue I see posted in this thread. I've never had a problem, and I don't know anyone that has. :confused:

The same crash is being reported by many users on the battlelog forums, so yes, this is problem, not my imagination. I did attempt a fix that's helped a few users (I'm too lazy to bring it up since I have to re-log into the battlelog forums to find it), that fix didn't work for me.

It seems the latest patch broke the game for many people.

edit: sweet jesus, the run as administrator just might have fixed it! good find!

edit2: nevermind.. I just got 10 seconds further.. instead of freezing in the splash screen, it froze while i was selecting my difficulty..

edit3: I finally got in a multiplayer game. Multiplayer doesn't appear to be as broken as single player, but now i get lots of pauses/hitches in gameplay.. i can't win.. lol

You should of put that $30 towards paying someone to fix your computer from the sounds of it.
 
Guys, what about you and loong range sniping ? I have feeling that there must be something like aim assist or something, coz everytime i shoot for long range even from SV98 it's almost everytime headshot. I also tried to aim at long ranges to aim alot above head and little less on the same range target and it was always headshot. i can't help myself but I just think there is too mcu aim toleration when you fire for a long range and you don't know how much to aim above head.

Not sure about that, i was just in a hardcore server in a sniper war on the map with the refinery. I'm on the little fort on the side, and there were three snipers on the mountain. Lots of close calls and hits, but headshots were rare. Admittedly there were a lot of headshot kills because that's the only thing we could see of each other, but we'd be hitting each other a lot more often if there was an aim assist.

I have been in a 500-600m sniper war on firestorm and me and the other guy must have fired 50 rounds at eachother without hitting...in the end both of us ran dry around the same time and ran off with pistols eventually.

I play on the KOF (killer old farts) server alot. Its 48 player hardcore rush. If there is anyone in the [H] gaming servers I'll join but they have been completely dead lately. My name is studmoninco on origin.
