I recently built my computer and I possibly have a dead EVGA GTX 560 Ti. I purchased BF3 on black friday and finally got around to playing it yesterday night. I got about 5 minutes into the game when my computer suddenly shuts off. At first I thought it was just the game being buggy because I've read that this has happened to other people with the game.So I reach over and push the power button to turn my computer back on and nothing happens.

I ended up opening my computer and tested each component individually. I came to the decision that my video card had gone because when I swapped it out for another card the computer booted right up. When I placed the 560 Ti into another computer, that computer didn't fire up. So it must be the graphics card.

One thing to note is that when I have the 560 Ti installed and I press the power button, I can hear a single click and I can see the lights on my H100 flash on then turn off real quick.

Any ideas on what could have happened? Looking at the bottom side of the card, nothing looks burnt.

I had this same forced shutdown blackout happen to me exactly the same way. I would load up a game and then everything would power off. Occasionally alt tabbing in and out of games would hard shutdown the computer too. Pushing the power button wouldn't turn the computer back on. I had to reset my ups/power strip/psu(either of the three) before I could reboot it again. Turns out it was my psu going bad. You may want to check your psu. It could very well be that your psu killed power due to the built in protection features. I ended up replacing my 800w with a corsair 1050w. It hasn't forced a shutdown on me after the replacement.
