Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

anyone having BF3 issue right now? I can connect to a server and I have sound, but it's all black screen.. :(..

finally fix my problem it was the router.

This morning I place my son computer on the same table as mine, It's f__king amazing, side by side with dominate the maps totally, no need of headset. As example if he dies, I look at the kill cam on his monitor, and I go directly kill the guy and revive my son, it's a legal cheat.....lol…….. I need to find 2 mores players and put the computer together,,,,,,,, thing is sure I have a i5-750 (4ghz) and a gtx 480 ( on water ) doing nothing , I will put it with our PC to be use by a visitor, at $ 30 I ordered a 4th one...

If your located in florida ill be over with a couple 120hz monitors!

I unstalled mine and tried to put it on another computer, but bf3 won't work for xp. So now i'm trying to install it back on my other computer.

I just wanted to stop by and say $%^($&*$^$)*)*&%)$&$&$

I tried to repair after BF3 crashed this morning. It spent all day repairing and then forgot what it was doing and now it's downloading BF3 again. FUCK EA FUCK ORIGIN and FUCK BATTLELOG

that's what piss me off, I pre-order it last April to have the B to Karkand for free, guess what, the one I purchase yesterday have it too. the only thing the pre-purchase give me more is the free choice of 3 games, so I get a second copy of Medal of Honors

If you can figure out how to get EA to gift MOH I'll take it off your hands.

Yes, the game is unbearably terribad because you personally have connection issues.

I personally haven't had a single issue, beta or release. Does the game still suck?

Yes, the game is unbearably great because you personally don't have connection issues.

You are a sample size of one. "I personally haven't had a single issue" does not mean that there is not a HUGE group of people who are having playability issues ever since this new patch came out.... myself included.

just played a few rounds with this guy http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/xOneChoicex/
he is gifted probably the best i have ever seen with his natural ability. and yes that was sarcasm and im seeing more and more of this crap but he takes the fucking cake. vent done.

I was in one of those matches, he went like 50 something and 1. I only got killed once as my head just appeared it was taken off. There are a number of other guys with xNAMEx that are similar but his bot must have been unhooked that game. I think that is the ADR or soemthing server which is a cheater magnet for some reason.

Says you. I, nor anyone I know, have had a single issue. I'm willing to bet this "HUGE" group of people is 5% or less of the millions of players. Don't assume it's a massive problem just because you're having issues.

Sorry, but when you have threads being posted all over various forums about BF3 connection issues (and when the majority of the people that I play with on Vent have connection issues) I consider that to be a huge group of people. ;) A patch is supposed to improve the game, not make it impossible to play. Therefore anything more than a few oddball cases of connection issues is a huge group of people.

Yes, this is obvs Battlelog's fault.

Mmm... The irony tastes like cranberries!

I had the beta and retail installed on my old Q9450 system on a couple vraptors in raid 0 on an Abit mobo. Not a single issue whatsoever.

My new rig (an entirely new hardware config, save the video card and power supply) also has not a single issue.

Can I at least be counted as two?

I'm having a hard time getting my mouse sensitivity dialed in. I also don't understand why there are two separate sliders for mouse sens. Also, worst sliders in the world.

I have no idea on this either. The bottom slider does absolutely nothing as far as I can tell.

I saw some where it was suggested to keep both sliders at the same spot. So like if one is only a 1/4 in than the other is only a 1/4. It helped me with the sensitivity issue I had when I first played. Could be in my head. I have no idea what the sliders actually do.

No connection issues tonight. Running great.

Set myself a new best with 764m headshot on Caspian. US had 4 guys on the antenna absolutely farming our team with M98Bs. I was playing engineer on RU and got sick of it. They were picking us off in our spawn.
Got my SV98, cleaned all 4 out several times with ranges from 744m to 764m. Was great.....same thing next match, couldnt hit any.

Its almost like the SV98 doesnt hit over 800m.

I think you need to go back to school and learn about statistics.

Either that, or actually count the "huge" amount of complaint threads on any given forum.

BTW...the game has become unplayable for me. Driver stops responding. I get disconnected from the servers. The 1 out of about 10 times I can actually get in a server I have graphical issues all over the place. I reinstalled BF3, I cleaned drivers and reinstalled. I tried old drivers. I have downclocked everything. I updated punkbuster. I ran the repair install. I changed cloud to local and back again. All my other games run perfectly fine. This all started after the patch (it ran fine before the patch).

BTW...I have a 2600k and 6970. It's not some crazy configuration. I have pretty much run out of ideas.

This is not entirely unique to me or just a handful of people. A game should not have these kind of issues over a month after launch.

I suppose I will wait for another driver release or another patch.

Did you uninstall drivers, reboot into safe mode, driver sweeper, reboot to normal, install, reboot, install caps, reboot?

Yes. It doesn't matter at this point. It shouldn't take that kind of stuff to begin with. BTW...to all the people saying this is isolated, just go to the Battlelog forums and the sticky for feedback on the patch. 344 pages and lots of people who no longer can play the game (with the usual complaints about gameplay balance, but that is another issue). It does appear ATI/AMD GPU's have more issues.

I do the above every single time I update drivers, regardless of issues. Glad to see the threadnaught on forums run by EA/DICE: that's where it belongs.

Yeah its ADR, or maybe it was ADK, something like that. I think I know which one you're talking about that. 64 player conquest right? That's on my favorites list, fun server to play on but I usually see at least one or two blatantly obvious hackers a day on that server.

what's your longest kill with the sv98?
I have been getting 760m-ish kills regularly with it, but over 800m I can't...probably tried well over 100 rounds and nothing....down to 760 and no problem...

When my son and me was playing on the same account, obviously it was not at same time, but on different computer, now that I have 3 account ( 1 for visitors) I place his computer on my second DSL line, This line have a Thomson modem and after some search it appear that PB don’t work well with the uPnP enable on this modem, of course I was looking in this direction as it was working fine on the other line

While there might be some people having issues I don't think the problem is as widespread as everyone thinks.

Me? I've had zero problems, maybe a disconnect once a week but things like that just happen regardless of what service, what server, etc etc. No one ever promised 100% uptime of EVERY BF3 server in existence.

For every product there will be users with issues, what the internet and forums do is make it LOOK like the problem is more widespread. Think about it this way, if there are 1 million people playing BF3 and 5% are having driver issues, a crappy ISP, hardware issues they are going to complain, nothing wrong with that really.

What we DON'T see are the other 95% running perfectly smooth and trouble free. Generally speaking people don't stop playing a great game to spend all their time on a forum talking about how cool it is.

My point: there is a huge difference in the level or magnitude of a perceived problem vs it's actual level.

This same type of thing happened on corvetteforum (another place I hang) there were a few unlucky souls who had their LS7 engines grenade due to a valve issue. For months and months the entire forum was all "the sky is falling the sky is falling" because a (very) small percentage had the means and drive to post about it. Nobody ever heard from the 95% of people cruising around trouble free.

Love BF3 but im getting kinda Bored of it in a way, Its my Fault i gotta break the Habit of just playing the same 3 maps all the time, Caspian, Kharg, And the Canals. They are my favorites and i need to force myself to play the others. Im just finishing up unlocking everything and cant wait wait for some new maps.

Any tips for sniping with the 12x sights? I can do ok with the 8x scope, but I have trouble judging distance on the 12x. What are the better maps to practice on, probably Caspian?

Oh and no connection issues here.

It's entirely possible the rifle's range is limited to 800. All of the guns have a range stat, and while it's not specific I'm guessing that the bullets for all guns will disappear after a certain range. Not very realistic I guess.

No its not realistic...M16's range is 3,534 meters but its effective range is only 800...I believe. So technically, you should be able to attempt to hit anything within sight really...but chances are your not gonna hit jack beyond a kilometer.

and my point, everyone complaining about this patch ran perfectly fine before they patched. They don't have a crappy ISP. They don't have faulty hardware. Plus I have played lots and lots of games, and discussed them often on message boards. You virtually never see a ton of complaints that the game simply is not playable 1 month after launch. There might be some bugs, but this game is downright unplayable.

Plus, the fact you find a 5% failure rate as acceptable is laughable.

The riffle are not limited to 800, I made quite few over 800 m including the 969m in my stats, I will make longuest one if I can find a place, I have not yet found a map to shot over 970 meters, my 969 was from Russian base to US base in Caspian

Ever single person my battlelog which is 50+ has had issues since release.

I'd be perfectly willing to accept your argument of "the game is unplayable" if I was having problems. but I'm not!

I've been playing perfectly fine since the second they unlocked it on origin, the beta was buggy as hell but every problem I noticed in the beta was fixed.

Sure they could add some features (like in game ping) and the ability to quit the game at anytime but on the grand scheme of things those aren't deal breakers.

Everyone here is well aware that for a game this big running on a fresh engine with all new EVERYTHING -- you have to expect a few teething problems.

With as pissed as some people have gotten it sounds as if they think Dice specifically sat around and planned to screw over owners of certain hardware configurations. The sheer number of combinations of different hardware mixed with countless drivers means some people are goign to get screwed. It's a fact of life, you can either bitch about it, find a solution, or don't play.

5% was a number pulled out of my ass - mostly to illustrate that even if it was indeed only 5% of the buyers having problems, they method and volume of their complaints make it SOUND as if the percentage is much larger. There might only be 1% of people having the problems you are, in either case the game is still fun as hell and I love it.

I hope you get your shit fixed so you can enjoy the game properly - it's hella fun.

Apparently holding/hitting alt-ctrl-s will reveal your fps and ping, though ping is called ingame time or something. Ive yet to try it though it would have been nice of DICE to not keep the console commands secret (though I haven't attempted anything in the console anyways).

There's also a command that will put a ceiling on your fps ...which I use so my graphics cards don't spew out heat equivelent to sitting next to a volcano...
