I picked up this Lian Li case on craigslist PC-62B for $10 :D
This is to setup my home server NAS.

1. The rear part which supports the PSU is missing

As seen on the case:

What part do I need to fix this?

Seller suggested this; just wanted to confirm

2. I want to add a lot of hard-drives to this case. What are my options in terms of accessories?

3. Like it so far; pull out motherboard tray, a few small fans which should keep the server cool.

The case has been stripped down and each part taken out and cleaned. There was so much of dust! Luckily aluminium does not rust. What really caught my eye was the size of the onboard speaker :)

The 5.25" cage should have a lot of options.

I also realized that this a 10 year old case and the hard drives have to be screwed in! That was not what I was hoping for. What are the options to convert it into a more vibration friendly structure?

Also is there anything I can do with the 3.5 Internal Drive cage?

While there are a lot of options for the 5.25" bays, I am not sure what to do with the existing 3.5" internal and external cages.

I can of course attach hard drives with screws but...

So is there a way of mounting them with some anti-vibration features? The cage itself is sold separately http://www.performance-pcs.com/cata...t_info&cPath=130_210_750_756&products_id=4329

Even if I get one of the cages Iike the ex-33a2 I am not sure how I will secure them to the case.

I think my A77F has three of these cages, so I can experiment with them.

Well for the 5.25" bays, I recommend getting this over the Lian modules you linked to:
$24 - Cooler Master STB-3T4-E3-GP 4 in 3 Device Module w/ 120mm Fan

Cheaper and gives you an extra drive. As securing the spare ex-33a2 module that you may have, just use duct tape or double sided tape. Or tap new screw holes

As for attempting to use the existing internal drive cage, see if anything in the following threads might help you:

With that said, do note that you can get a case that fits 8 hard drives very easily for $50 shipped with better and quieter cooling in the form of a 120mm and 140mm fan as well as significantly better cable management:
$50 - NZXT Source 210 Elite Black ATX Case

Plus if you combine the NZXT with the above Coolermaster module, you can get a total of 12 hard drives for around $75.

There's even a Lian Li case that can fit 7 hard drives for around $100:
$100 - Lian Li PC-A04A Silver mATX Case

So do keep the pricing of the above cases in mind while you're trying to get that old Lian Li case suitable for your server. If the total upgrades/rebuilding/fixup costs more than $50 and up to $100, it's gonna be a waste of money IMO.

Yes Danny. I too realized that the cost of these upgrades is very high so while I spent the whole evening cleaning the case, this might have to go into storage. It is a rather nice case with the basic design not having changed much in many of the more recent cases. This has smaller fans. And I think the construction is even better than what is now. Each and every surface is smooth and there is not a single sharp edge. And the speaker can beat the cr*p out of any other case speaker I have seen.

I could fit in the drives I need into the existing cages but they will not have any vibration protection. Those silentpc forum stuff, the drive-bras are really interesting.

I have a PC-67 which is very similar to this case. Haven't used it in a couple of years but have hung on to it because I really like the case and I've had it for almost a decade now. It was my first Lian Li.

I have ordered from Coolerguys.com on a couple of occasions. Just recently got an order from them and they have been fine.

That was my first Li Li...they don't make 'em like that anymore.

there is a reason they don't make 'em like that anymore, with shit cable management and spaces for fans that no one dares used now b/c weak air flow/presure and loud noise profile....:p

seriously tho, still have my old Lian Li cases (PC61/71) and can't bring myself to part with 'em (despite the missing modern features) due to the build quality. i keep 'em b/c they're perfect candidates for modding.

Want to sell the other one? Where are you located?

I spent a lot of time last night cleaning each and every bit of that case so I can not let go of it so easily..... But then everything has a price ;)

Silicon Valley ...

$10?? Pretty good Score! It wasn't like 100 miles away was it?

Dear wifey was in the area. And it was a small world; the guy who was selling it had bought a motherboard from me about a month ago!

It was all dusty with the tiny ADDA fans all covered in a mm thick layer. Spent a couple of hours last night cleaning and then finding out that putting drive cages will not be inexpensive. Searched the 4 sale sections all over the interweb hoping to score something but no luck. More than the money it is the time I spent on it; and the consequences of not retiring on time.

For $10 I will keep it as a souvenir. It does need some work. One of the 4 plugs which secure the front cover to the frame is missing. A set of 4 is $5-6 as is the the rear PSU holder. I also noticed that the front USB cover is missing. It is right at the bottom of the case so not very visible.

I might just keep it to make another computer for my children. Nice to have multiple generations of Lian Li's in the house.

The cable management wasn't even that bad, assuming you aren't retarded with how you run your power cables. And even if you were, you can just bundle up the excess in the 5.25" bays... That's what I did... pretty sure that's what everyone did.

If you were willing to drill a couple of small holes to run wiring, you shouldn't be able to see anything really. Also.. if you are willing to spend $2 on aluminum extrusions from home-depot you can completely hide nearly every cable while still looking factory clean (even for a Lian-Li).

I honestly don't understand people who say there's bad cable management. Nothing has bad cable management, period. Use your head and plan out the build before you make a rats nest. If it turns out like that it's your own damn fault.

There was nothing wrong with the airflow... (at the time). They later incorporated 120mm fans into their case designs, and those will work for the rest of eternity IMO.

I have a Lian-Li PC60-70 "Silent" case with optional side window panel. Any idea how much I could sell it for? (Sorry for the threadjack)
