I pm'd him about the shelf a long time ago and he told me it was just a standard Ikea shelf with 4 capita legs . I didn't link to the shelf because Ikea has about a thousand to choose from, but I think it might be this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00094348/
The shelf is sold at IKEA and so are the legs, which come in varying heights. The speakers are M-Audio and they are self powered.
Thanks dude!
No sub with the M-Audios, just the 2 speakers
hmmm, maybe I'll just stick with my Klipsch 2.1 then.
DO NOT let that turn you off, these have incredible bass, if you want to rattle your home and not be able to hear your music you should probably get the Klipsch, but it you want everything crystal clear with clear, tight bass then get the AV40's. I can personally say these are better than either the Logitech Z-2300 and those Klipsch 2.1's because I've owned both and would say that these are a complete upgrade compared to those two. I swear to you you'll be more that happy with them!
Do you run a soundcard or onboard sound?
Onboard atm, have a Xonar coming in the mail. But even now they sound amazing.
I guess I could've said this in the other thread you posted in, but eh... the Klipsch are bookshelf type speakers, while the AV40s are studio monitors. Google for "studio monitors vs bookshelf" to find out the main differences. I have both, and while the M-Audios sound great, I still prefer the Klipsch. At my desk, the AV40s sound great, especially if I'm listening to FLAC rips of my CDs. However, if I'm listening to something else or I'm somewhere else in the room, the Klipsch sound better to me.hmmm, maybe I'll just stick with my Klipsch 2.1 then.
I love your media unit c1001, what shelves did you use to make it??
going to Ikea in Minneapolis, in the Morning. Was wondering if anyone knew if the main L corner top and other extra parts will fit in the back area of a GMC Yukon *non XL.
finally after 3 years of wanting this desk i can finally go get it.
Thank you vm.. wanted to find the galant on CL, but alas i'm living in Grand Forks, ND no one sells ikea up there =/ and shipping the galant is like 350bucks =/. so taking the wife for the weekend at mall of america and ikea for me lol
Older ikea desk here, one I haven't seen in the thread. Forget the name.
I just added some Pioneer MTS3W speakers and moved one of my shelves back down to raise them to ear level.
Since posting I've moved them outwards and imaging seems to have improved, now I just need to get my pioneer receiver hooked up and find myself a solid 8-10" power subwoofer to replace this Logitech Z4 control pod and subwoofer.
I figure it's a good time to post when the setup is still relatively clean.
