Ikea desk gallery

Screwin' around with the Camera+ app on my phone:

What is the shelf on top of it? Om their site they only have the base of the table and like a 3 tiered thing..lol

This is a sickness. I found another Ikea Jerker table that I am going to use at the office. Will pick it up today.

I'm curious to see how that shelf was made as well... I want to do something similar for storage for my Xbox and Cable box.

Also, .Gunfire, what speakers are those and how are you powering them, if you don't mind me asking?

The shelf is sold at IKEA and so are the legs, which come in varying heights. The speakers are M-Audio and they are self powered.

The Capita legs come in 3,6, and 9 inch heights. The 9 inch ones work great for media/stereo units as well.

hmmm, maybe I'll just stick with my Klipsch 2.1 then.

DO NOT let that turn you off, these have incredible bass, if you want to rattle your home and not be able to hear your music you should probably get the Klipsch, but it you want everything crystal clear with clear, tight bass then get the AV40's. I can personally say these are better than either the Logitech Z-2300 and those Klipsch 2.1's because I've owned both and would say that these are a complete upgrade compared to those two. I swear to you you'll be more that happy with them!

Do you run a soundcard or onboard sound?

I guess I could've said this in the other thread you posted in, but eh... the Klipsch are bookshelf type speakers, while the AV40s are studio monitors. Google for "studio monitors vs bookshelf" to find out the main differences. I have both, and while the M-Audios sound great, I still prefer the Klipsch. At my desk, the AV40s sound great, especially if I'm listening to FLAC rips of my CDs. However, if I'm listening to something else or I'm somewhere else in the room, the Klipsch sound better to me.

I love your media unit c1001, what shelves did you use to make it??

I used 31.5 x 24 Galant shelves:

The 1/2 rounds are 15 x 31.5:

going to Ikea in Minneapolis, in the Morning. Was wondering if anyone knew if the main L corner top and other extra parts will fit in the back area of a GMC Yukon *non XL.

finally after 3 years of wanting this desk i can finally go get it.

Seats in or out?

The width of the packaged Galant L-piece is 51+/-1" (yes, I'm a sucker who paid retail -- could not get a birch one off Craigslist) ... I'd say it's likely to fit, but you'll need to put it at an angle to the floor.
Another reference: if you ever transported drywall 4"x8" panels in the same vehicle -- Galant L top will fit.

Thank you vm.. wanted to find the galant on CL, but alas i'm living in Grand Forks, ND no one sells ikea up there =/ and shipping the galant is like 350bucks =/. so taking the wife for the weekend at mall of america and ikea for me lol

Out of all the set-ups I've seen in this thread, this is my favourite. Nice and clean and not cluttered! Far too often you see rooms that have far too much going on. Simple is smart!

I lived in Grand Forks for a few years back in the late 90's. Kind of miss that place!

Older ikea desk here, one I haven't seen in the thread. Forget the name.

Nalc I have that same poster...How can you bear looking at it??? Luke, Leia and Han look hideously bad in that poster :( I remember getting it at Walmart for like $3, without examining it too hard. Once I had gotten it almost completely framed, I noticed the awful, awful effort put into those three. I mainly keep it for the spaceships now :p

Now that I am in the DC area, my CraigsList opportunities have exploded, I am going to join the IKEA club soon with a heavily discounted used desk ^_^

IKEA Galant with Summera computer holder. The wire mesh storage unit on the right is from the Container Store.

I just added some Pioneer MTS3W speakers and moved one of my shelves back down to raise them to ear level.
Since posting I've moved them outwards and imaging seems to have improved, now I just need to get my pioneer receiver hooked up and find myself a solid 8-10" power subwoofer to replace this Logitech Z4 control pod and subwoofer.
I figure it's a good time to post when the setup is still relatively clean.
