Anyone NOT having fun with BF3?

Every single Battlefield release has had some major bugs to iron out post release Including everyone's precious 1942 and BF2 (my personal nightmare was with BF: Vietnam). BF3 isn't perfect, but it's better than 99% of modern MP games (imo of course)

It cracks me up that people are still surprised that Battlefield games have a buggy release. :p

The game is buggy as hell, green flashing texture pop-up on Nvidia cards, falling through the landscape constantly, keyboard suddenly stops responding (direction keys), end of round does not cycle to the next map, rubber-banding, BF3 has stopped working constantly, crashes to desktop.

It sounds like you are still running the beta. The only problem I have from the ones you listed is the lag/rubber banding, and its typically not bad except for Tehran Highway map.

I don't understand why people are so surprised about all the bugs being a DICE game. Even in their previous entries that WERE made for the PC DICE has always left a ton of bugs in and had it quite unpolished. As for the video where the guy gets killed in one hit...Couldn't those be head shots? On the first one it was also a sniper rifle..

Pre-ordered it. Have only played a few hours since getting it last week. Thinking about uninstalling it.

I loved BF2, especially BF2 Vietnam exp. pack.

The web based brower crap and long level load times have pretty much killed it for me.

In BF2 I could try 3-4 games in a few minutes and find a good one.

In BF3 that would be a 15 minute ordeal.

If web based server browers are the future, then I'm done with FPS multiplayer gaming.

I really do hate it that bad.

really? man i remember staring at 'optimizing shaders' for eons in BF2 and wondering "did it crash again?" :D

Haha, yeah. BF2 would always take awhile to load the maps. And updating drivers or changing hardware always had the optimizing thing.

I am not. But I also didn't like the BF2. I gave it a try and cannot get into it. Seems like it's not enjoyable at all.

i am having a lot of fun, my main gripes is the tac light. just makes no sense it is so bright in well lit areas. if it was metro i get it, dark area, very bright light. it is blinding. i dont get it when i am outdoors in a sunny area. the worst part is it is completely unnecessary. if you have time to point at someones face with the light you should already be shooting and the person would already be dead. it is just retarded. so many people keep it on and it just gives them away their position.

battle log should not be a server browser. if you want to play BF3 facebook go right ahead, just dont force me to.

getting over those little things, it is really fun to play. if i was making the game sure there would be things i would change but, i didn't so i can either enjoy it or stop playing. hell i hated that virtually everyone went prone in BF2, bunny hopping and dolphin diving was really bad. some servers had to make it against their rules. a basic game mechanic against the rules. WTF? it use to make me hate the game but i got over it and then i loved it.

i stopped reading all the rants about this so this is not directed at anyone. NOSTALGIA is a motherfucker. nothing is going to be the same ever again. the sooner you realize this the sooner you can move on with the rest of your life.

I've purchased several battlefield games and did not like any of them. If that makes you feel better, so I passed on this one but I was watching my cousin play it and it does look good.

I shall promptly leave this thread.
I have finally received my key and am now having FUN with BF3.

the single player was fun but not anything near as good as I thought it would be. The multiplayer, well I haven't found a single server that isn't unplayably laggy yet and when I do stick out a round and kill a few people the whole game freezes before the round can finish.

So no, I'm not having much fun with BF3.

And where are the "biggest maps ever" they promised?

I started having fun now I'm not so much. Cheaters are more prevalent, mortars ruin everything, corridors aren't complete without an RPG flying down them, flashlights and laser sights are completely blinding and extremely overdone, you get a rubber band server 50% of the time on random pubs, client-server hit detection lag is irritating to say the least (yes it's the nature of the beast, but in this game it seems to be REALLY bad. Clearly I'm around the corner eons before the bullets started flying), jets are neigh useless and don't even come with radar standard (lulz give me a Phantom from Vietnam, it has radar..), commo rose taking up my binds and is also neigh useless, team deathmatch is a joke (random spawns, srsly???? The game started with an enemy right in front of me and one right beside me. Needless to say I killed the one in front while the other one capped me at close range because I couldn't move).....

I've only had the game a few days and I'm considering taking an extended break... a long extended break.

I'll say, I've had a much better time in BC2 versus BF3. In BC2, it was all about the close in action and squad play. It was more competitive.

In BF3 it seems like they try to do everything and do nothing well.

A game of huge maps with individuals running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Stuff like jets and mortars are gimmicky distractions. They went WAY overboard on stupid shock and awe effects like the sun blinding your screen in half the map, ridiculous "effects" blurring up your vision, huge overuse of smoke, obscurations, stupid head bob every time joe, dick and harry set off an explosion on the map. Worthless recon class.

When I am playing it just feels like DICE wants to drop me in some horrible Micheal Bay movie instead of a competitive and fun FPS.

Anyone else have similar thoughts?

My main gripes are how small the maps are. I remember in BF2 even with a jet it'd take a few minutes to get from ones side of the map to the other, now it only takes a few seconds. The jets are pretty much pointless unless you really enjoy dogfighting.

Ditto. Just seems more frustrating than fun. Yeah I'm not the best player, but I wasn't in BC2 either, but at least for the most part I was ok with the kills in that game. BF3 it's a cluster F most of the time. I spawn I die. Some of the levels so far are very uninspired. I could not stop playing BC2, hours on hours. I'm not feeling that with BC3. Maybe a couple patches who knows, but now..going back to BC2.

Its a new game on a brand new engine...... I expect it to have bugs and yes Ive had a few of those things happen to me. But I close everything, restart origin and launch a fresh game and all is well with the world. If you cant handle new games with bugs, go buy yourself a console and enjoy. Remember this: until there are no more planned updates to ANY program, its STILL a beta.

Gripes:

- I hate when my teammates flash the light at my face without realizing it
- When teammates spawn on me when I'm at a really good sniping spot, then I'm found to be with 3 other scopes, and other team finally notices where I was, and bombards the shit out of all of us.
- When Im scoping and I can't see my bullet because although my scope seems to be clear of dirt bullet is hitting it..

However, I love the game. I feel really immersed in the fighting, and can see myself in situations I could picture in the real world. It's really a fantastic game, enjoying the shit out of it.

The beta isn't playable...

I love these "I don't have these problems, therefore they do not exist" posts. They really do amuse me.

Beta versions do not come with $60 price tags.

Actually, I think I'm already done with this game. I'm already getting real tired of dying to people I was shooting, then finding out they had 7% health left. I'm tired of unbalanced teams and ending up on the side getting trounced simply because the other side has 4 more people. And I'm tired of trying to grind my way up to getting some kind of red dot or decent kind of weapon sight because I fucking hate iron sights.

I'll agree that bf3 does way too much. I found myself getting a bit motion sick at times hahahha.

I do like the supression blur though, i think it adds an interesting dimension and makes covering fire worth a damn, unlike before where it wouldn't scare people into hiding.

However, I will say that BF3 feels right now kinda how BC2 felt like when it was brand new. Nobody knew what they were doing, and everybody was running around like chickens. This will straighten up as more people learn the maps. I do like how BF3 encourages socialization in the game, im really hoping that this leads to better teamplay. BC2 felt like i was soloing all the time, my squad would always camp or eff off and do something stupid while i went for the objective. I'm finding in BF3 that people are sticking with their squadmates.

I just have to laugh how in this game people spray full auto machine guns and assault rifles from 100+ meters away and they are incredibly accurate with a few perks they just mow people down.

I have to say at this point im not having fun.

Single player has a gamestopping bug for me.
Co-op is beat
MP isnt for me.

Its a great game just has alot of bugs.

yeah, starting to regret my purchase...
wish I would have just saved my $ and bought MW3 instead....i shit you not

Rubber banding was just patched with a server side patch today, as was TDM and Squad TDM spawn points being terrible.

As for the OP's question, I'm loving BF3 I havent had any issues with Origin/Battlelog/BF3 like some of the people posting here. Neither have any of my 4 friends that are playing this game as well.

Continuing to get hit by bullets is annoying but this is hardly something new in multiplayer FPS's. The hit detection that people claim is so bad is something I dont get. Unlike in many other games when I actually shoot people in the head I get headshots. I love how accurate and fluid the hitboxes are in this game.

Currently playing support with the PKP machine gun and loving it. But to be honest it is a little rediculous that I can run around with a heavy machine gun like it is an assault rifle.

Single greatest game I've played thus far. But it helps that you play with friends and are in a squad working together.

The thing with games of this sort is they typically get much more enjoyable the more you play. The unlocks of course are a huge part of that, but you're also getting more familiar with the mechanics, maps, etc.

I found myself getting a bit frustrated with things for the first couple days especially, but once I started feeling a little more competent, the fun level went waaay up.

Oh, and play with at least one other friend if possible. Makes such a big difference to at least have one other person to coordinate with.

Once I was able to get in I was overall pleased with the game. I need to find some good servers however; the few I played last night were conquest but the games mechanics almost make all the maps feel like rush. There was not surprisingly zero team work other than the couple myself and a couple guys I game with. It really may as well have been team deathmatch. The game overall felt more like BC2 then a Battlefield game.

Graphically I was impressed. I was able to maintain 58-60 FPS with textures on ultra and all else on high on a overclocked gtx480. There is some serious balancing that needs to take place, especially with vehicles. They also need to fix the bullshit tac lights, they can be easily defeated but the whole idea is moronic.

You're right...but you know what? I'm very fucking close to boycotting every single shooter that uses this kind of rank up/unlock mechanic from here on out. If that's every shooter from here on out, oh well.

Agreed.

I think overall I'm enjoying it, but I'm being very cautious and playing sparingly.

I don't mind the bugs too much, as we're all in the same boat, but what fucking pisses me off is the limitless ways they've made things worse over BF2/BC2.

Here's the list:

  • Non-clickable spawns on the map.
BF2 and BC2 allowed you to click on a flag on the map to spawn there. Can't do that with BF3. You have to look at the map, see a flag under attack, then apply a process of trail and error clicking on the spawn names until the one you're looking at is selected.
    - Unacceptable as previous games didn't do this.
  • Lack of menu access when you die.
Beyond annoying. Just after I die is precisely the time I'd like to go through and sort out all my stupid bling. But no, I'm forced to stare at the rpg noob-tuber who just killed me for 10 seconds, leaving me a whole 3 seconds to change my kit before I spawn again.
    - Unacceptable as previous games didn't do this.
  • Annoying jump leg animations
Seriously, fuck this fucking 'call of duty' noob console trite shit wack gash. Just let me fucking jump over the 1 foot high piece of rubble please instead of lazily leaping vertically unpwards whilst doing a some stupid tap dance. The thing I fear the most in BF3 isn't the enemy; it's any low piece of wall that I may or may not be 'allowed' to jump over and I won't know till I've tried 5 times to hop over it unsucessfully and been shot in the back for my efforts.
    - Unacceptable as previous games didn't do this.

I highly recommend people having a hard time making the shift from BC2 to BF3 choose "Infantry only" servers in BF3 and I think you'll find that a much easier transition. I'm quickly starting to favor those myself.

Honestly this game feels more Operation Flashpoint/Arma than BC2 regardless of vehicles or not.

To original poster...I got 99 Problems but BF3 ain't one!

Yes, team-play in BC2 seems to gel much better. So far I haven't really had much luck with my squads. Everyone seems to be protecting their KDRs rather than going for objectives, anybody that does push up when squads aren't working together soon dies.

eh it was the same way when BC2 launched; nobody was playing the objective, med/ammo packs were few and far between, if you were lucky enough to get revived it was a 'rambo revive' in the middle of a firefight so you died instantly. once the death-match type players start to dwindle out and go back to other games the team oriented gameplay should ramp up, just like with BC2.

I much prefer the maps where the action is close and forced rather than giant maps where people think they are elite snipers and half your team is just sitting on the hills shooting at tanks with their mod 11...

Grand Bazaar, Seine Crossing are my favorite maps right now.

The game is fun but has a bunch of frustrating bugs. Play this game with friends otherwise it goes into your trash bin quick...

I'm really hoping a lot of people leave when MW3 comes out so that you're left with the people that actually try to play the game, you know med packs, ammo kits, revives... OBJECTIVES...

Also, why are SMALL ROCKS AND DEBRIS completely stopping my movement? Do I really need to LEAP over a low rock?

I completely destroyed a fairly large section of a cement wall with a tank, only to hit some "magic invisible wall" that was still there and wouldn't allow me to go through. I mean seriously, there was like two little chunks of cement left, and the tank still couldn't go through... wtf?!
