The Gigabyte X58A-UD3R is another popular x58 budget board.

an evga board with lifetime warranty. IDK though, x58 is a pretty mature platform, havent heard of any specific mobo having issues

do any x58 motherboards have increased space between video cards for "larger" cards?

Use Newegg and look at the pictures. They have pictures for a reason. If that's not enough, go look up reviews of the board you're interested in, and count the spacing between PCI-E slots.

gigabyte x58 oc board...a tank of a board..i want one so bad...maybe next month when x79 boards come out and prices drop a little more on x58 stuff..

Thanks for the insight everyone :) I actually might have more cash to go for even better than I thought. The Sabertooth is the most likely choice if I stick to that list I made. Otherwise I may go for one of the Asus Rampage X58s.

Been very happy with my sabertooth x58. the only con has been the placement of the single PCI slot between the PCIE slots.

I don't use PCI cards anymore, so I wouldn't have that as a negative. Anything else I should be aware of?

x58a-ud3r is out of the question? I think it's better than any of the ones listed there.
Also, a step up from all of these boards would be the asus rampage 3 formula.

Edit: and I LOVE my rampage 3 extreme... But it's in a different price range... You get 100% of what you actually need with the formula version, unless you're going subzero.

The x58a-ud3r does look nice & has 2x more SATA 3GB/s ports but lacks the larger # of USB ports that I love about ASUS.

I'm throwing all sorts of ideas around about what I need exactly. I might have enough to spare with a Rampage III Formula but I'm searching for lower prices at the moment.

Thanks Dan! I see that there are some great deals for some of those mobos in the FS/FT area. I think the Rampage III Formula looks mighty enticing. :)

I realize some of them may be out of your price range, but I just thought I'd throw together my list of boards I've reviwed and used myself. Just about everyone of those has been on my test bench. Some of them I actually own myself.

Yeah, I've been power searching through most sites to see how low I can go with any of them. I've sold/traded a ton of old games/books/music/movies/models to various places to get a ton of cash & items. A new X58 mobo & the Amazon Kindle Fire are on my to-buy list, so I'm making best of it. :D

Update: I went with the Rampage III Formula through a fellow [H]er. I really look forward to making good use of it.
