Corsair Force 3 120GB for $110 AR

how is this? I've been led to believe that the only SSD's worth buying are Crucial M4 or Intel. Been too cautious to try anything else.

I've been running these for months. Well, the 240s anyway. I have two in my computer in raid1. I get 525MB/s writes and 1.1GB/s reads. Very fast.

Firmware 1.3 or above is required for stable operation, otherwise they have a habit of disappearing from the sata controller.

Anyone know what's the difference between this and the Force GT? Corsair's website was very vague in terms of specifications.

In for 1. My first SSD, just in time for building my BF3 2600K rig.

EDIT: I think I got the last one. lololololololol

In the original post it says. "IF YOUR DRIVE BEGINS WITH SERIAL # 1123 or LATER, THIS THREAD DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. "
In the updated post it says. "Users with issues after receiving a replacement Force Series 3 120 GB SSD (serial # 1123 or later)."

I almost bought myself 1 to replace my laptop HDD, but I reconsidered after reading this post.
I'm not sure if the one for sale on newegg since it does have GB3A and the corsair post has GB3 it might be a different model or something, but doesn't seem like it's worth the headache to be honest.
So my word of advice to all that receive the product, check that serial number I guess, and pray the drive works without issues. :)

I was also under the impression that Intel and Crucial M4s were the only way to go ifyou wanted a hassle free drive since these crash too much

I've known a few people that have had this exact drive, and it's been a nightmare for them. Random lock-ups and BSODs. I believe it's related to the controller (something SandForce based), and any other SSD that utilized the same controller is also having problems. It got so bad, Corsair actually had a recall earlier this summer on this drive. My buddy had to RMA his twice now, and Corsair doesn't refund you for shipping. I have no idea if they've fixed the problems with this thing or not by now, but my same friend who RMA'd his twice just did so a few weeks ago and is still having major issues.

I love Corsair but I'd avoid this drive.

This isn't the same drive as the one with all the problems. This is the newer revision that has supposedly fixed all of the issues. If you search for "force series 3 120gb" they'll both pop up. This is the GB3A model. I almost bit but I still have a lot of space on my 90GB vertex 2 boot drive. Going to hold out for a 240.

I came to this thread a little late, newcustomer10 code would've knocked off another $10

Well that's certainly good news!

Good to know, thanks for the heads up.
