Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

is cloud storage not enabled by default? how do you enable it?

In Origin, there's a litle cloud icon underneath the BF3 entry on the My Games tab.

It just crashed on trying to load the 4th round. Somewhat of an improvement.

I see on your sig you OC. Have you tried playing without it and see if that may be the cause?

You are correct about that,, not date that I've heard yet though. Just activated my Physical Warfare Pack and now we wait.....

would be awesome if i could play this for more then 30 seconds before being disconnected from the server. i never had this issue in the beta.

If you are getting stuttering while playing the game and you are running an I7 with hyperthreading try disabling the hyperthreading. As soon as I disabled it on my 2600k the stuttering disappeared... it appears that alot of the stuttering issues with this game are a problem with the way the game uses hyperthreading, and not with gfx cards.

Great... probably back to the BF BC2 issue with CPU multi core optimizations in the NV drivers that were the cause of the problem...

i too am old school....too bad im not at my home pc to be able to play =[

It appears that the 285.62 nvidia drivers are the culprit for stuttering if you use an nvidia card nvidia is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. Apparently the drivers also cause texture and shadow flashing in bf3. Link : http://www.dsogaming.com/news/battl...g-are-introduced-with-nvidias-285-62-drivers/

WTF doesnt anyone test anything anymore... just let it fly out the door....

Yesterday - "here are great new driver that will speed things up"

Today " those drivers yesterday sucked... we are working on some new ones..."

for fucks sake...
UPDATE:
We just got word from Nvidia’s ManuelG. Apparently the corrupted shadows are due to the game’s current build while the stuttering will be fixed via an updated GPU driver. We should also note that the game is not working properly with 3D Vision right now – a patch is expected to add proper 3D support:

“The corrupted shadows were apparently fixed by Dice in build 862168 of BF3. I don’t have the game yet (arrives tomorrow) so I can not verify which build number Dice/EA shipped. If it is a newer version than 862168, I will have our developer relations team notify EA/Dice. As for the stuttering, I have already filed a bug on that.”

Whats the build we are playing??

I am reverting back to the beta drivers before the update to see if it fixes the problem will update in a few

:Update: The beta drivers DO NOT fix the problem I am wondering if we are playing the non updated build of the game as the article above suggests. Anyone know how to check the game version?

I just played bf3 for the pc and i noticed that they added a ton of sway to the sniper rifles. I know you can press shi ft key to steady it, but it does not help much because of the recoil.

I do much better as sniper in all of the past battlefield games but they just killed sniper for me. I found myself getting out sniped by assault rifles. I ended up playing assault and realized that it is so much easier to hit someone
with the assault rifle even without a scope. assault rifles should not be more accurate than snipers.

I really hope they change the snipers, they were perfect in bad company 2 and all of the older bf games. They definitely did not have this much sway in the beta.

I think Seine Crossing will be a classic map. Love it!

I did til I tried it on hardcore mode. Opposing team had mortars and held the middle point and rained mortars on the two closest to our spawn. literally nothing we could do about it because the mortars were constant and if you're even a little close to where they land you die.

I think it's a good thing. Snipers are called recon for a reason. They probably added sway to dissuade people like you who just camp for kills rather than helping the team out.

Waiting for slow ass UPS to come through with my physical copies... it looks so beautiful

but it was not broke in bad company 2. If it aint broke dont fix it. I guess i will not bother with recon now. Plain sucks.

Its funny how i can easily kill someone with an unscoped ak47 from far away. Trying to the same thing with the SVD and MoD1 gets me killed lol.

Is anyone else having problems with 5.1 surround in this game? It's working perfectly in Windows, but when I select "Hi-Fi" in-game it's only passing audio to my front speakers, not the rear. Headphone mode seemed to work fine with virtual surround, as well, so it's kind of confusing.

Should I be setting it to Home Cinema? or what? It worked in the beta on Hi-Fi...

This is the first game that I have had a stuttering issue while using HT though and it is amazing how well it runs when you turn it off. I would say that it is probably a game engine issue seeing as I have never seen this issue before in another game before,

Trust me, it's not the first game to have problems with HT.

What is the best sound setup to select anyway? I have Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers...?

Change HI-Fi to some other settings, Hi-Fi is stereo....

What kind of performance do you guys get? Do you use Vsync? Im using 11.10 v3 drivers and sometimes it dips down into 45 fps. It's mostly 50-60. It honestly feels like it's lower though, maybe it's server lag?

Autod by settings to

Textures: Ultra
Everything else High
Deferred-Off
Post AA- High
SSAO

Took some tweaking, but I've got the game playable now on my M1730 XPS laptop:
-T9500 dual core @2.6GHz
-4GB RAM
-8800M GTX x2 in SLi

Everything set to low, running 1440x900 (sorry, was wrong about the res the first time) and forced a couple things off from NVidia control panel. The campaign is playable and, oddly enough, the MP matches I've gotten into so far run better than SP! I wouldn't have figured that would be the case.

I'm disappointed I can't see all the bells and whistles (hopefully I can put together a new home build this winter!) but honestly the lighting and particle effects are still impressive, even at low! Better yet, the gameplay is so good that the graphics don't bug me all that much in the end.

I'm just thrilled I can play! First match I was in I jumped in an open A10 and downed a Frogfoot for my first kill!

Anyone else have this mouse and issues in BF3?? I cannot get BF3 to recognize the center button (under the scroll wheel) or the thumb rest button. Windows and BFBC2 have no issues seeing these.

Ridiculous statement. They should have just removed sniper class then.

wow that is a hell of a decrease....... not sure why it worked for me:confused:

OK, my fault, I had 4xMSAA on from the SIngle Player. Didn't know the settings were going to carry over. :p
Now using 2xMSAA as usual without HT and the stuttering is gone for the most part. The only thing holding me be now is the VRAM. My FPS is back up to 70-100. Thanks.

Make sure you are clicking on the "mouse" column when trying to customize the controls... I was clicking under keyboard and it wasn't changing...(obviously), didnt realize there is a column for keyboard, mouse and controller.
