Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

There's always a good portion clueless people in any group... knowing how large of a group this game is catering to, this is is required. It's more of a reminder email to me though which people like me appreciate who don't always have Origin running.

You can browse Battlelog without Origin running and when you join anything Origin will start automatically.

How can you browse Battlelog? Is there a specific URL?

I've never used it so I have no idea.

Anyone else who cancelled their Origin pre-order still having it show up in Origin? I re-ordered through Amazon, but don't want to get billed twice if Origin screws up (I do have a cancellation email).
I originally had pre-ordered BF3 on the wrong Origin account, I have 2, and I then contacted CS and explained to them what had happened and they sent in the cancellation for me. I then turned around and ordered it on the right account. It still shows up on my other account though, so it looks like I may have 2 copies with 1 being free :). I just gotta wait to see if they charge me for it once pre-load starts, if not then I might just let my son use that account so he can play also.

Don't know if anyone posted anything about this, but was watching this trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRqf...ube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DFRqfFfuVuNE&h=_AQEzdzVR and noticed this.

Their was a glitch in the Beta which showed 6 man squads. They weren't actually in your squad. The color was just incorrect. It had to do with squad mates being in vehicles. Take a look at the minimap in the screenshot you posted.. neither of the helicopters are shown green.. when the one of the left should be. And their are three squad leaders shown, all on the same squad? glitches galore

But we can hope that it's 6 man squads.

Ok so far I know from the bulldozer reviews BF3 can use 8 cores/threads. Does anyone in here have a 990x? Will it use 12 is what I'm trying to get at.

It can use whatever cores you throw at it but it won't make much of a difference: the game is far more gpu bound than cpu. Overclocking your cpu for BF3 won't be worht the hassle

hmm, just stumbled on this. wonder if this applies to digital copies as well.

Buyers of next week's Battlefield 3 have a sci-fi surprise in store, as first run copies of EA's shooter juggernaut also include a code to access Mass Effect 3's recently announced cooperative multiplayer mode. The demo will launch in January, though the actual date is yet to be determined.

For the non-cooperatively inclined, don't fret – the demo will also include a section of the singleplayer campaign. Users in every region Battlefield 3 is available will have access to the multiplayer portion of the demo, provided they buy Battlefield that is. It sounds like the singleplayer portion just might be free to all, regardless of your Battlefield status. You can find more information at the official BioWare forums.

bioware forums, here i come.

alright, here's the post from bioware:

Hello everyone! It's going to be a Happy New Year! Mass Effect 3 will have a pre-release demo in January 2012. This demo will have both single player and multiplayer sections, giving fans a taste of what's to come on March 6, 2012. Be first to the front lines in the multiplayer section of the Mass Effect 3 demo! Redemption of the Online Pass for Battlefield 3 will unlock this early access. But rallying for war is just getting started - in late November / early December, BioWare will announce other ways for fans to engage the enemy with their friends online from day one!

What are the details of the Mass Effect 3 pre-release demo?

•The Mass Effect 3 pre-release demo will launch in January 2012 (exact date TBA).
•The demo will include both single-player and multi-player sections.
•The demo will be released in all regions where the game is

How can I get early access to the multi-player portion of the Mass Effect 3 demo coming in January 2012?

•Owners of Battlefield 3, on any platform, who activate their Online Pass will automatically be granted early access to the multiplayer portion of the Mass Effect 3 demo. There is no need to enter any other codes, the early access will be applied to the EA Account associated with the Online Pass. Note: BF3 Origin Customers automatically have the BF3 Online Pass.
•This applies to all regions where the demo is released (to be announced)
•The exact date of the demo launch will be announced in late November
•There will be another program whereby players and fans of the Mass Effect franchise can unlock this early access (with no purchase necessary) – this will also be announced in late November or early December.
•There will also be a tool posted on www.masseffect.com allowing players to check if their EA account has been granted the early access.
•The length of the early access period is TBA.
•The single-player section of the demo will be available to all players on day one of the demo launch.

Wouldn't that make Skumgummi show up in green then? He looks like he has a squad leader star.

Talking about the Basejump picture.

I think it said 7am pacific
This was the email I received yesterday:

Code:
Dear Customer,

Thank you for pre-ordering Battlefield 3. We would like to remind you
that your pre-load of the game begins tomorrow, October 21st. You will
receive an Email from us tomorrow by 11:59pm PDT, which will include
your order information and instructions on how to begin your pre-load.

Sincerely,
The Origin Team

So the cheapest way to get the game is cd keys then? I have a $28 steam credit but it would be $60 there and that kind of negates the issue when I can get the game for around $40.

I'm wary of CDKEY purchases. Especially when it seems most dont include Karkand.

In other news, I got an email from Amazon saying "GO DOWNLOAD ITS READY"

I go there..excited...

Wait another 2 hours. Sonofa.

lol @ all the people who said the campaign was going to be generic.

/shrug

It looks like MW to me. Excited, but I dont see the difference in the story. Change out Russians for Insurgents.

Also is it just me or is anyone else having problems downloading off of the amazon dl'er for this game?

I knew DICE forgot something. Should have added the Damsel in Distress, works every time.

Insurgents+nukes+home video complaining about being villianized = True Lies

This is the last camelback straw. Pre-order cancelled again.
