Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung event live

Looks pretty sexy, but we shall see how HTC ports this to the Incredible 2 (if they even do at all...I can't see Sense UI playing well at all with this).

I more concerned about the ICS version for tablets though and how my Xoom will benefit from it!

F the lack of "Apple-like" presentation you ninny, it's not Apple. They won't need to do a hard sell. hyped-up buzz on these, just take orders.

It's the phone stoopid!

Does anyone else see this as the end of added-on UIs by phone mfrs? HOLY FUCK I HOPE SO!!!

Pft, marketing is marketing. Apple has shit product and STILL sold 4 million in 3 days. It's not about hard sell, it's about putting your best foot forward. ICS is AMAZING and needs to be hyped up so that more people who have been taking the red pill realize that they need to take the green one! Education requires attention, that presentation was great for ME as a techie, not for the masses.

Galaxy Nexus very anti-climatic presentation. They really need to pay attention how Apple does their releases, that was hor-rib-le

Let everyone feed themselves on rumored hype then completely let everyone down and not deliver what everyone was expecting?

I thought Androids presentation was great, they gave everyone the down and dirty details about ICS and told me exactly what I wanted to know.

Does anyone else see this as the end of added-on UIs by phone mfrs? HOLY FUCK I HOPE SO!!!

We hope so, but highly doubt it will happen though, or less ICS has code built in to prevent that from happening. Even if this code exists, the open source critics will throw a shit storm then, so highly doubt the code exists to prevent custom UI's

But yes, I hope Sense UI and Blur go die in a fire with ICS. This way my Incredible 2 can get a port of it!

It wasn't about what was or was not delivered, it was about how they presented it. It was an extremely awkward and anti-climatic opening. But it picked up quick after that and I was really happy with it overall :).

ICS is amazing, but the Nexus Prime phone is not impressive at all - crappy gpu and camera. Soon we'll have ICS rom's like CM for rooted phones though.

Just imagine what an event Apple's presentation skills + Google's actual amazing features would be. The ICS keynote was a couple of awkward geeks who had no business being on stage for such a major announcement.

Bingo. +1 on this comment and observation. It's not about smoke and mirrors it's about presentation value.

Waiting for Verizon pre-orders. I'm in on this for sure now that the badass screen and bloat-free ICS are confirmed.

WTF...the camera was one of the better parts of the whole show. Just because it isn't 8mp? WTF are you doing taking 11x18 wedding shots? 8mp isn't necessary on a phone camera, yes its nice, but not necessary.

Yep anyone in photography megapixels means shit. Its all about the sensor. If you plan on using those pictures for large media prints then megapixels would come into play. And with a crappy sensor you would have big ugly pictures!

The sensor on a phone, ANY phone, is too small to gather enough light to take quality high-megapixel pictures.
If you want to take wedding photos, hire a pro and/or get an SLR. This will do quite well for anything else.

Did you see how fast it took continuous shots? If low light pictures are good too, who cares if it's 5MP.

Tell that to State Farm who took a major beating in advertising. I believe internal reports said they lost 18% of their customers to other competitiors due to advertising.

It is all about presentation, and currently Apple is king.

Engadget has some hands on pictures. They do not look particularly promising.

The Camera app in ICS looked awesome. But the Galaxy Nexus camera looks pretty mediocre. I also saw those sample pictures and they look like the same sad crap my Galaxy S Vibrant takes. Don't think I've ever had a Samsung phone with a good camera.

This right hurrr... anyone who isn't fucking retarded to boot (Religious iPhone Buyers), knows that megapixels mean nothing... unless, of course, you have a profession in printing 24x36" Poster boards for a living  Christ these morons dont even understand what resolution is.

Problem is nobody complained about the megapixels. Someone said the camera was crappy. And someone else just jumped to the assumption the complaint was about megapixels...

Nobody said megapixels. The samples we seen from the camera are mediocre looking. I imagine most of us realize the issue isn't with the megapixels.

OR its the fact the camera looks like it sucks.

Really? You can tell the quality of the camera from a screenshot of a picture scaled down?

I've missed the link with the actual sample image files taken with the Galaxy Nexus (I only see the Engadget one with the scaled down images of pictures taken through windows and other silly things). Can you link me up?

Lol no one ever said that the low MP is the reason for the "crappy" shots. Also, these self-proclaimed know-how elitist geeks should learn to stop using profanity in their posts. If you guys are really that knowledgeable about tech, then maybe you should spend more time explaining it properly than using profanity to get your ideas across people.

I am still wondering if ICS will be available for the Galaxy S 2
If you're a Galaxy S2 owner you better hope and pray they can get ICS out before the GS3 gets released because the moment it does you can kiss further updates goodbye.

As long as you don't have a GS2 on T-Mobile, you should be fine. :)

The samples you're looking at are complete crap. Look at the technology behind the camera as well as the time lapse videos from the unveiling. The camera is great and the only thing one could concievably complain about is the lack of mp's on the camera because no one in their right mind would judge the camera based on the pictures endgadget released.

So if you have other pictures that aren't taken in low light or at least with someone with a steadier hand then by all means post them. The photos and the videos from the unveiling are much more impressive than the endgadget ones.

The time lapse was as cool as was the panoramic shot. They had me at that point with the camera.
