Official Deus Ex: Human Revolution thread

If you aren't big on overclocking, why buy the K version of the CPU? They made the K versions specifically for overclocking, while the non K versions are for those that are overclocking adverse...

Exactly. And overclicking is so easy with those models. It's mostly surprising that he has two 580s, which could legitimately take advantage of a faster CPU.

I'm not criticising, I just think its a bit amusing.

So I have the option, should I later find CPU to be a limit. Since there's no reason now, I don't bother. CPU runs much cooler non-OC'd and I needn't do extensive stability tests.

$1.99 expansion pack for a shotty, rifle and 10k in-game. I urge everyone to buy this and support more shitty DLC. Bonus points if you e-mail the devs and ask for DRM.

They're actually charging money for these crap add-ons? we have to pay to use a new weapon and some crappy accessories? seriously?? is that 1 level DLC gonna be 19.99$ . this is really stupid.

If I bought the tongs rescue dlc, how would I get to it? Would i have to find it in a new play through?

You get the mission after talking with Tong in the harverster hideout if you have the DLC.

$2.99 isn't the end of the world on its face but that's really not cool in concept/principle.

At the very least people that own the Augmented Edition should get that for free.

I remember getting the Tactical pack thanks to the Augmented Edition preorder via Amazon that I did but I think these retailer exclusive things are messed up.

So I would have to pay $2.99 (or any extra value)because I didn't preorder for Gamestop, and would never buy from them no matter what, for content that really should have been in the game all along.

That's just flat out wrong. That's garbage.

Yea this shit pisses me off. As a result i went to the dev's forums to see if other people were pissed off. Not a one.... IN FACT, there was even a thread asking for them to release all this stuff for sale, and that this person would pay $5 for it....

That, in a nutshell, is what's wrong in the world gaming...and out of it for that matter.

What is wrong with offering the ability to purchase this versus not at all? I bought it my copy from GMG, because their preorder bonus was a large discount vs. DLC content. Even if I buy both of these, I still save compared to buying it from Gamestop and would have 1 more bonus.

If they don't offer these at all, then this is content I cannot get (well yes I know about the mod, mainly the mission and integration into the game) if I choose to otherwise. By offering this content later on, the consumer can choose where to get the game that has the best deal for them, as opposed to being locked into a certain distributor due to fear of getting a different game.

I got my copy from GMG too and that's sort of the mindset I had when I saw the pre-order bonuses up for purchase. It's a case of damned if you do damned if you don't. I'm personally not going to buy them because they add virtually nothing to the game, but it seems like immense value for those who benefited from purchasing at GMG.

Nothing. People just like to complain. Obviously, people are free to not buy DLC if they don't want to, but I fail to see how being given the choice is a bad thing.

people who complain about this (i'm one of them), just hate the fuckin DLC model.

2$ for some worthless credits and a couple guns. It's just stupid. make the game cost 2 bucks more everywhere and include that shit in the first place.

grrr /rant

I bought it for the extra weapons and the sidequest...

Ever since I bought the game weeks ago, I really did not like not having the pre-order bonus weapons. But I just bought the for about $2. I feel so dirty inside.

edit: Actually $4 for both DLCs.

:( :/

I'm glad I have all the pre-order items now, which I've longed for but I really hate supporting this disgusting DLC model.

I'd rather have the chance to buy them then not having them at all. At least the mission pack. I did buy both because I'm really enjoying the game and it's a small enough amount that I don't care. I'll scrutinize the actual DLC content that is coming out more though.

they are trained dogs, drooling at bits and pieces being dangled in front of them. pavlov would be proud, at this point it's "normal" for devs to remove content as ransom for immediate payoff, then charge premiums for any stragglers later on. a full game for full price?

no! these dogs will do tricks for us, if we give them a little bit at a time.

Completely agree. The $28 preorder was a phenomenal deal.

Wow, what an experience from start to finish. Simply one of the best games I've played in years (and of all time, for sure). Looking forward to the Missing Link DLC.

I`d give it a 9/8.5. Solid game but has clear faults (awful textures come to mind), balance problems (easy to get every augmentation you need and then some, pistol being best weapon and so on) and bad ending part. Emphasis was on stealth too much so shooting portion of the game was far less enjoyable. Takedown system looked cool but was also immersion breaker at times and energy bar mechanic just didn`t do it for me. Hoping they release SDK so modders could fix this some of this stuff.

Plusses for being a true stealth game (except being forced to fight bosses), pretty good voice actors, nice styling and decent hacking minigame (made trivial by augs tho :/ ).

I agree about stealth being very good in this game- definately more realistic than many other stealth games. This was one game where I had a consistent feeling of being on edge when stealthing around (until I got full camo agu and silent running). I appreciated that the AI was intelligent enough to see you through the big, open grates in a duct system, or pay attention to doors opening .

O.O

How many stealth games have you played?

Definitely more realistic than many other stealth games..

As someone who really likes this game, lumps and all, I'm really not sure where you're coming from on this and have to conclude you haven't played many stealth games.

what's not realistic about robotic augmentations jacked into our brains?

You can sit down in a theater after the previews and ads. I don't have cable TV. I also don't want to see Star Wars ads in a Deus Ex game. Imagine if Google could target ads into your game? Actually, we'll probably see this in the near future.

I have just played the game twice (on PC) and have no idea what Star Wars ads you are talking about. As for in game ads, the only ones I have seen are for the fictional companies in the game like Sarif and Picus, which is perfectly fine because it adds to the realism of the world. What on earth are you talking about?

you probably had a firewall blocking the app, those ads are pulled in remotely. either way it was a dick move by them, not sure what they were thinking.

Just picked up the new DLC campaign. About 3 hours in on GMDX mode, no guns (Tranqs only) and no alarms... Fun.

Love this game still. :D

Good game overall, but still no where as good as the original. There were just too many things dumbed down, the story seemed detached at times, and the interface was very awkward to use, especially the inventory screen. I also don't seem much in the ways of replayability, despite it having "multiple paths".

Did anyone else notice how every single air duct grate looks exactly the same, no matter if you are in a shiny new apartment or a grime filled alleyway? They basically scream at you from across the map to "open me!". Yes, this was without the object highlighting turned on.

For those that enjoyed Human Revolution but never played the original, you really owe it to yourselves to try it.

Kinda agreed, but to be entirely honest, it's as good as it get's aside from the stalker series now a days.

Lack of "real" options are def a minus in this game tho.

PS

I especially didn't like the XP bonus for non lethal/then lethal force (pro tip, shoot em after the stun), and also "NOT" finding pass codes that are easily hacked. Not to mention a +400 xp bonus after I'd knocked out/killed everyone Then going down a duct and going back up to the objective.

Seriously, I wish I didn't have to cheat the system to get praxis points.....thats all.

I'm doing another playthrough- nonlethal/ no alarms- and I got to the Funicular area. I was really wondering how I would make it thorugh that section without killing anyone, especially during the long wait section. After a little thought, here's what I did:

Went back into the hallway and moved the vending machine infront of the small side door. Took the other vending machine near the funicular and put it in the big main door- it didn't completely fill it, so I took the turret and used it to fill the rest of the hole. This rendered both doors useless.

When the bad guys came, there was only one guy at first. He wasn't alarmed- just walked up to the turret and vending machine door that was blocked and stood there. So, I crawled through the duct, stunned him, took his stuff, and got in the funicular when it arrived. So easy it was a joke.
