This Kinect banking app is pretty neat (or another step towards the Minority Report). I personally wouldn't ever use anything like this, but it is cool to see companies developing Kinect apps for stuff other than gaming.

pretty damned cool to see for sure. can't wait to see what the future brings for the technology that the kinect has brought us

personally, i think this is how it will all end up in the future.

Wave your hand in intricate gustures, speak the magic words, and VIOLA! you've purchased a Slurpee at 7-11

Neat, but I don't want to share my banking information with anyone in front of my big screen tv.

I'm sorry, but they need a hotter model in that commercial if they want to keep my attention for more than 5 seconds.

Neat but I dont think I'll use it. Its already scary enough that I got 3 eye balls looking at me when its not in use. I put a sock on top of those lens :p

Great. I went from lying down on my couch reading my statement to an activity in front of the TV. This is exactly how I want to do my bills each month. Who keeps on asking for this damn minority report technology?

My god is that inefficient, it takes so long to get anything done. Who wants to take forever getting their banking sorted. LAME.

Looks like it'll take 10 minutes to pay a bill with the kinect. Maybe when it starts recognizing small gestures with you fingers and will react quicker then it might take off.

That's what I was going to say. I guess in the future everyone will have a big screen TV in their own little booth so they can wave and exercise in private . That'll be cost effective!

So did the girl leave to go kill herself and that's why the dude came in? Then the dude killed himself and now dogs rule the world? I don't get it, someone help me out here...

You shouldn't even have your wide open ready to use CC data on MS's databases anyway with the Live account thefts going on since June this year. Even if it's a username never seen. Even if you don't have an Xbox 360. Even if your password is 24 characters long and complete jibberish and your computer safety is the best in the world, your account will get nicked.

That program must be real and close to going gold, because it is unresponsive as hell just like almost everything else on Kinect.

Exactly. Who the hell does their online banking in the living room on a big TV screen:confused:

Especially in a time where I can do anything I need on a subway or at a Subway with my phone, why would we move this from two thumbs to two arms?

BTW, I may or may not work for a federal savings bank's web support department. People can barely use the software they are given even if it is spoon fed to them. This is asking for major trouble.

I think the idea is to be interesting, not necessarily useful. Although it does illustrate how applications in the future will be accessible from a variety of conduits.

(although certainly applications are already accessible from a variety of platforms.. the delineation between platforms is likely to dissolve even further with respect to common applications)

It also show that our input devices are likely to change with respect to even the mundane. I, for one, think that banking like that looks a bit fun.

Looks like a workout to get some cash. I already worked for it once.

Actually though, the gestures are too big and that makes the process slow. Fine for some Kinect games. You need to be able to make most of those gestures with a flick of the wrist and fingers to be usable for something like this.

This whole idea is ridiculous IMO. It may look cool but I don't see how it can have any real world use. There's a reason why mouse and keyboard are still the input device. Just like all this touch screen crap, it's more of a novelty and has little advantage in typical every day use. In some special cases I'm sure it may have a place but it just make input more complicated and longer, not to say wasted more energy from the person doing it. Might be useful for sharing photos or such but not much else.

In the future, every home will have it's own slurpee machine.

If the movements were much more subtle I would feel better about it. I guess accuracy doesn't matter to those that play games with their thumbs. I could see the future in my own version though. Transparent panels w/o the midget Tom Cruise.
