We had plenty practice in BC2. :D
I think it would be quite a ways from the action, which would make it a pretty hard shot for snipers.
On Port Valdez it was a pretty hard shot to snipe players when they were parachuting into the map. Now imagine people diving like eagles, near impossible.

:D now that's funny. i suppose you're right so long as the cliff is away from the action. if it's anywhere near the action people better not pull that ripcord until the last possible second. in the beta it was easy to pick off people parachuting down. like you said, something along the lines of port valdez would be reasonable.

I know your pain. My EA/Origin account is loaded with personas. Like, I literally have 5 instances of "Battlefield" personas with the same name and it won't let me change it to any of them because it claims the name is in use... by me. :rolleyes:

No, I do not fit that criteria.

I joined the [H]Platoon during the beta but I wonder if the platoon will carry over to the full game or does it have to be reestablished? I was actually going to change my origin ID and I wonder if that will be notified to the platoon admin/leader, or if I'll have to rejoin? I guess if the account is the same and all that changes is the name maybe it will automatically update? I don't expect anyone to know this, I'm sure this is something only EA/DICE knows at the moment, but I'm just putting it out there.
 
i imagine that all platoons will have to be recreated. like you, just guessing.

Its never going to steam and if it does Ill eat my car. The power and money is not in the games but in the control and distribution of them. EA is a publisher and has a lot of control but they are still steams bitch unless they circumvent the distribution channel...which is what they are doing with origin. Digital distribution is the future with billions and billions of dollars to be made.

From a business standpoint, Origin is the smartest thing EA has ever done...well except for pumping out low cost Madden clones every year for pure profit.

Or at the very least start a new thread so it's more visible. I know there are a lot of people that wish they could change their names.
 
so is the BF3 PC beta over?
i tried logging in the past two days and the battlelog browser link just goes to a 404 page.

Would have been nice if origin would have notified me that the beta was over, or at least remove the beta from my list of games.
Guess they could learn a lesson or two from steam, on how to provide game news and info on things like betas closing etc

I wish BF3 was on steam :(

GameSpy: We've heard there's going to be a command rose at launch for PC. Is that still going to be ready for launch? What sort of functionality might it include?

Lars: It is on our list for trying to get in there at launch. It is the usual things that you can really miss on the battlefield. Bail out is a typical one; you're sitting in a helicopter and you realize that you want to attack the flag, and there's no way to tell you're buddy that you're going to bail out.

they gotta get their voice actors back in the studio to record 2 hours worth of enemy boat spotted
 
Dunno if it's been posted yet, but you can pre-load the game starting the 21st if you have a digital copy on Origin.

Commo rose is good for team communication, but annoying.
Unless they're going to limit the amount of chatter, let's see how the game goes without it before they force a broken feature into the game.
I think VOIP and squad management are more important "right now", commo rose can arrive later.

Luckily the game only cost me $45 on Origin so I stayed with them.
One of these reasons is because of pre-loading. 2M+ day one emails and loading sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
