Microsoft is looking for a few good men to test out the new Xbox LIVE Dashboard. If you are interested, times’s-a-wastin’ to get in on the Beta Program since positions are usually limited.

The new Xbox LIVE dashboard is expected to take on more of a Metro UI style similar to what’s seen on Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8 interfaces.

I hope I get in. I got into one of the betas a couple years back. I'm really excited to see what they have in store with the Metro UI.

This supports my idea that Microsoft maybe trying to unify all their platforms together, probably through this Metro UI. Currently a Xbox 360 doesn't communicate very well with a Windows PC or a WP7 phone.

You mean your idea that was already stated was the case? I have an idea that windows will need a cpu and memory. lets see if I'm right.

If this is news to you then you haven't been keeping up with much windows 8 related info. They already shown off the new Metro UI for xbox 360, they also showed off the Xbox live for windows 8 function where you can play your arcade games on windows 8.

im in microsoft always signs me up automatic to.test all the crap they have on xbox and.pc that his how i got stuck with a fucking kinect.

I applied but I probably won't get chosen since I don't have a Kinect and don't play often enough.

Well the idea I'm thinking is that one application will run on all those platforms. Considering that Windows 8 will support ARM and that we don't know what CPU will be in the next Xbox console, it might be possible that ARM is going to be the favored platform for Microsoft. Xbox games will run on PC as well as WP7 phones. Microsoft Office will run on Xbox and WP7. That fart app you downloaded for your WP7 will work on Xbox and PC.

You'd be surprised. I got in on a lot of the previews and my Xbox just sits in my room collecting dust. I got in on the NXE update, Halo, and if I'm lucky maybe this one.

Again your "thought" isn't anything new or special but for the most part is pretty much expected by most people. That said stuff like office will not run on a device just because it is running win 8. Office will only run on ARM if you get a version compiled for that processor. Same goes for all your other programs. x86 programs will not run on your xbox or phone, so people will need to make new versions of them for that. So just like it is now they will need to make a separate mobile version of office. But as far as the xbox running win 8, that is already being assumed by most. While maybe not a full version, they are expecting at least a watered down core version of it given that as I stated above xbox live will run on top of windows and at the very least allow for some arcade game functionality and for media distribution. It is also rumored that win 8 will have native support to play xbox 360 games as part of this also. Which if that is true leads most to think that the next xbox would just be running some version of windows to give them the unified platform.

I've gotten into all of them so far. Hoping to do the same with this one.

I applied, wishing to see some MCE updates, but there prob wont be any. I still get "Network Issue" popup even with a stupid fast server & above average networking hardware.
