I have the older P5Q Pro motherboard and I want to add another 6950 to run crossfire for BF3. I think that my board converts to (2) 8x lanes when using crossfire? Will this slow me down? What are the disadvantages?

1. Yes it does.
2. Very slightly (typically a 3-5% difference)
3. None other than that above, you won't notice the difference.

+1

Unless you are pushing massive eyefinity res' (think 3x30") you would only be able to notice running multiple benchmarks.
