Bigger screen? More storage? A.Eleventybillion 16-core cpu?

What do you guys think. Talk. Discuss.

Will look exactly the same, but maybe .00001" thinner and running 6-mo old tech hardware.

But the Apple mass will buy it like it is gold.

If its a bigger screen I'm leaving Android and coming back to Apple. If there's no change I guess I'll wait for the Nexus Prime. We will see.

The main Apple rumor sites now seem to be edging toward the "minor" upgrade "iPhone 4S" instead of an "iPhone 5".

I've read a lot of aggressive comments on forums of people threatening to move to Android if Apple doesn't introduce a radically redesigned iPhone with a 4+ inch screen, or LTE, etc. I don't believe that for a second. Some of these Android phones are ridiculously large. These posters also assert that Apple will be "behind" if the phone is jusst an iPhone 4 with faster internals, even though they're still selling millions of iPhone per quarter.

I think a safe bet is that no matter what they introduce, it won't be available for a couple of weeks at least.

iOS 5 is the big thing to me, anyway. So many improvements over iOS 4.

Still, faster hardware is important, too, as my beaten-up 3GS is choking on a lot of apps these days, and man do I ever need a 64 GB option. Audiobooks and podcasts, combined with apps and music, photos and videos really eat up space.

So much is up in the air.... Rumors about Sprint getting exclusive rights to iPhone 5 and iPhone 4GS... so much is out there.

I think most of the rumors about the iPhone 5 will be spot on. Just take a look around at all the design and case leaks.

I'm guessing 3.5" screen, aluminum tapered back, thinner, A5, same resolution, world phone, 1GB of Ram, 64GB option, iCloud, iOS5, etc.

I hope it's getting a larger screen. the A5 internals were enough to sell me (if I didn't already have an iPhone 4)... but a larger display would probably seal the deal.

I don't really care too much about the other features. I am looking forward to iOS 5 though. I hope a tethered jalbreak is avalible ASAP :D

iOS5 is great, even in beta form. Although I dislike the fact that 'Assistant' will be a feature only available on the new phone. The original 4 has plenty of 'power' to run that.

I think this is a minor update. A little better camera, A5, improved antenna (obviously). Now, with A5 in it, they could milk a good life out of it, because it could take lots of updates. Maybe they are going to try to be the tick/tock strategy of the cell phone world.

yeah, apple has always done that sort of thing. On the plus side, I can only assume that it'll be a matter of time before the JB community enables it on older devices.

Rumor has it that the new iphone will have a button dedicated to the new 'Assistant' feature, however with activator, it should be easy enough to assign it to a different function.

I really hope that isn't the case.

I'm so fucking ready to get rid of my Android phone that I hoping Verizon will start selling 4s on the cheap without contracts (like $200 without a contract) so I can get off this horrid OS that is Android.

lol @ $200 w/o contract

I think 4" is about right. 4.3" is almost verging on too large, but some phones, like the HTC Inspire, manage to keep small bezels, so it's managemable.

People can dream.

Yes we can.

Paying $600+ for a phone out of contract is just insane when you think about the specs compared with tablets and such. $200 out of contract would have people switching now instead of waiting for their current contracts to expire.
I could see the 4s going for a low no contract price. Apple shaking up the market.

but that encourages people to stay IN contract, lol. I bet to no small degree carriers apply pressure to cell phone manufs over this.

Referring to bringing people over from other mobile operating systems. Give them something cool at a price point that will allow them to jump ship. Before a cool new update comes out for their phone before their contract is up and they just decide to stay with what they have.

I put my phone up on ebay, reserve already met and auction ends tonight. So depending on apple's off contract pricing announced today I will go one of two ways.

Edit - apple store is now down

iPhone 5 on sprint only running LTE. Verizon and AT&T to get iPhone 4s until 2012.

I have engadget blog going, apple site up, O2 site up and that audio ustream running.

Excited.

What ustream is that? I see leolaporte's, is there someone broadcasting from the town hall room?

Yeah that's the one, it's brilliant to listen to whilst checking up the engadget blog. It sounds like they're listening/watching a stream from the town hall

Cool, yeah they saw some stuff on engadget before I did haha, I was like "what, where?"

I can't get any of the streams from work.

Cliff note updates every couple of minutes from those of you who can, please?

so far just talking about the success of the ipod, iphone and now the ipad

edit: iOS is now the number one mobile operating system

Number one mobile OS. They like to combine numbers. If you break out tablets and phones they lead the tablet market but are getting destroyed in the phone market.

I hate google phone users.. You also think you are superior to everyone else.. If an iphone with 6month old hardware can run smoother than your top of the line android phone.. then there is something wrong with that..

and.. who cares if the phone is not top of the line hardware.. your buying the OS, not the phone really.

lol, yeah. I have an Atrix, while some would claim it's silky smooth (much better since it now has CM7 beta), it lags noticeably behind my Samsung Focus in even simple tasks, like screen transitions...

But I cannot deny it, Android has a rather mature OS, overall. Some issues, mainly with the wide spread of HW and app quality, but all those can be overcome, IMO.

I have an atrix as well. It's pretty damn fast. Faster than my wifes iphone 4. But those windows phones are damn fast even with very low end hardware.

I called it.

The S in iPhone4s stands for 'saw that coming.'

Well i take back what i said to those who said about no iPhone 5, apparently Apple are slightly retarded. Just a iPhone 4S.....

I hate the design of the 4/4S damnit.

And seriously, with Sprint literally putting their business on the line... They are getting iPhone5 exclusively. In order for Sprint to sell all the iPhones they have purchased... They will literally need to convert 100% of their user base to iPhones, AND more than DOUBLE that current user base.

They stand to make no money until after 2014 due to the deal they signed. Companies don't make decisions like that unless they've really got an ace up their sleeve...
