This is the first time I might consider an AMD CPU over Intel, but this is going to be for my HTCP
Hopefully these leaks for a mid October release are accurate because I was wanting to pick an FX-8150 and only have a couple of weeks left to get a refund on the 2600k I bought. But I would think AMD would of send out review samples by now if we were just a week and a half away from launch.
Why would you put bulldozer in an htpc....
The onboard graphics blow on the 900 series since it is just the 4200 something they have used in 700/800 series boards. You would be better off with llano in a htpc.Maybe a 1 module version. Although I thought that would be released in 2012. Unless the HTPC is also a gaming rig.
Edit: When I think of it a second usage for the 4 module version would be for ripping / reencoding HD video.
Doubting Thomas that I am right now: the reviewers could at least say "Hey, look what I got!" if they did have a shiny new Zambezi, right?Review samples are out I believe. It's because of the NDA, reviewers cannot publish results until the NDA is lifted, which is most likely when it will be released.
I'd assume doing that would break the NDA.Doubting Thomas that I am right now: the reviewers could at least say "Hey, look what I got!" if they did have a shiny new Zambezi, right?

This would break NDA if they have a review sample, even if its from another source. They probably don't have a review sample. 2 weeks with a processor, seems a bit short. November is looking more and more likely.
a 125 watt cpu for a htpc? or is it a 140 watt part?
I'm personally not expecting it till March 2012 at the earliest. That way if it comes out earlier I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I cracked yesterday and picked up a 2600K and an Asus Z68 Deluxe mobo. If Bulldozer exceeds all expectations, I'm going to feel like an ass.
Something I can add. Friday MicroCenter employee confirmed to me he has BD in store. We are getting close for sure, now someone pull a fast one at MC and lets see some numbers!
for the people who doubt it is true.

Why would MC get a review sample? They are just a retailer (unless I missed something in the article, the article was info from a MC leak i thought)...
so it is pretty much a phenom ii x8 after all.... with a few improvements.
intel still does 1.5-2x the work per core. Oh well.
If you're going to encode audio, intel will leave bulldozer to eat its dust.
Question:
From the article: "Each of these motherboards will require a BIOS update to be serviceable though the leak suggests that the update would be performed by Microcenter themselves. If for some reason you have the board on your own you will need an older AM3 processor to perform the update."
If I buy a board and BD processor, I won't be able to update the bios, or use the board, until I buy an older AM3 processor, flash the BIOS, then install the new BD processor?
I just want to make sure I'm reading that right. "Cause that would suck if I am.

What I like about that link is the serious difference in the 2600K system and the FX-8150 system in the benchmark results:for the people who doubt it is true.

What I like about that link is the serious difference in the 2600K system and the FX-8150 system in the benchmark results:
1. The 2600K system is running 16GB of ram, whereas the 8150 only has 4GB of ram plus a 4GB swapfile
2. The 2600K is running a 111.7GB system drive (maybe a 120GB SSD?), but the 8150 has a 558GB (more likely a 640GB) drive
JF had a line in there about mountain biking with a friend from EA and told him they should buy some Bulldozers. Dunno what that's supposed to imply, but OK.
