Just got an email from MC saying the i5 2500k is now 149.99. Probably trying to get rid of inventory for ivy bridge

Of course B&M but great deal for those near a MicroCenter

I think there are still a few motherboards that qualify to get an extra $40 discount with that also.

If teletran sees that he will have a heart attack

What if I bought one three weeks ago for $179.99? Will they refund me the difference?

Insane price, and $40 off a qualifying motherboard would make it even better.

Pretty sure they will, i'm thinking price protection is good for a month?

Lol and here I thought Intel would never return to the $149 pricing range (previously left vacant by the i5 750 in 2009). Very nice deal...I'm curious how long MC will run this.

it's 240 miles roundtrip to the nearest microcenter.... Might do it.

Lol. Have fun! Hope you vehicle has mpg. My current truck would cost me ~$56 for that trip. I hope you do not get taxed in your state.

@ Mav, it ends Saturday. Hurry if you want it.

You sure it doesn't end today?? The 40 dollar off motherboard combo.

I am not sure on the combo, sorry. I know the 2500K sale is today and tomorrow. Check this post about the motherboards that are working. If you are unsure you can get it today. Do instore pick and I think they hold it for several days. You can get it tomorrow.

Wonder if we can get Amazon to pricematch, submitted :) . Time to stroll to Fry's today to see if they will as well.

These prices are so good that it is making their 965be +mb combo's look over priced.
I was going to build a cheap system so my son and I could coop in the same room, probably with an AMD setup from MC.
But for an extra 100$ over that "cheap" AMD system I can go damn near top of the line.
MC is ten minutes from my house.

The combo with the $40 off the mobo doesn't work. At least not for me with the Chicago area stores. There is no $40 off when adding supposedly qualifying Z68 mobos to the cart. The price on the 2500K is a great deal though. The $15 in tax (bringing the total to $165) hurts but that is still a heck of alot better than $180 + tax obviously.

The 40 dollars off only works with specific motherboards. It still works.

Holy mother of hot deals. I just bought 2 2500s this month to upgrade too. :(

List a few specific mobos then please because I tried several, including some mentioned in the original combo thread, and saw no $40 reduction. And, yes, I had the 2500K in the cart.

Edit: Ok, per slickdeals, apparently these will work -

ASUS P8Z68-V LGA 1155 Z68 ATX
ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Z68 ATX (I verified this one - there is an additional $40 off)
MSI H61M-P23 (B3) LGA 1155 H61 mATX

The cheapest one is the cheapest asus board. The 124 dollar one. There is an ad somewhere that lists them. There are 3 or 4 at least. Ends up being around 253 for the bundle. ~260 if its the taxier chicago location. I can't find the list. I'd like it too, just incase they are out of the asus one.

Thanks 100inch, there seemingly are indeed at least a couple boards that work for the $40 off. I was looking at the wrong thread obviously.

My local MC is out of stock, any kind soul wanna buy one & ship it to me? I'l paypal you & throw in $20 for gas. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Price reflected when you check out in store only. It will not show up online.

Is it worth my time and money going from a 1090T @ 4GHz to a 2500K just for gaming? My monitor is 2560x1440.

i just bought a 2500k with the asus p8z68-v lx

receipt says 85 for the asus and 150 for the cpu

The MC in Westmont IL has a bunch of ASUS P8P67-Pro Rev 3.0 boards that they were closing out. My friend just picked up a brand new one for $60. :D

It would be really hard to beat this deal. Ivy bridge is a while away and the chance of a 150 dollar ivy bridge competing with a 2500k isn't high in the next 6 months and that is ages for computer hardware.

Good info. I'm passing by that store today.

60 bucks straight up or with some kind of a deal?

So for anyone still on a DDR2 platform this would be a good time to upgrade eh?

i5-2500k, Asus P8Z68V LX, and 8GB Patriot DDR3 1600 for <$300, gonna forward that shopping list to a few friends.

Do it! You could sell your ddr 2 and get ddr 3 for the price of what you sold your ddr2 if not more memory.

The cpu is cheap and mobos are cheap as well, get a h67/h61 if you want to save money.

Saw this and almost got upset that I just bought one for $165 from someone, but it was NIB and after $10 in gas to drive there and tax, I think it was still cheaper for me. And I got a $220 mobo for $130, so cant complain there.

Thanks OP! Since I live in BFE ID, we don't have a Fry's, Microcenter or any other cool place to get PC hardware. The small mom and pop shops around here are way over priced. Luckily I have a brother in the Dallas area who will pick this up and ship it to me.
