Not a hardware thing, but my son is 3 and loves LEGO's so bad.

My wife got an e-mail from Toys'R'Us with this deal inside, figured it would be great to share with any of the dads here who have kids that love LEGO's or even for the big kid in all of us.

(2 of the sets I bought were for my son, 1 was for me, lol)

Geek on!

Hey, don't be ashamed to post Lego deals in a techy forum.... believe that, this will get some heads up.

and just for the uninformed consumer.... there are tough lego sets, made for 16+ "kids" :)

these I talk about cost $200-300+ per set. I bet you might be able to profit on this, if you want to spend some cash on those sets and resell the free ones for profit.

The tough ones are called Lego "hard to find" sets --> http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_lin...rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1312980502&pf_rd_i=236510011

Also the Lego MindStorm kit is pretty interesting if you like robotics --> http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_lin...rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1312980502&pf_rd_i=236510011

im 25, and i still love lego's haha
i just haven't bought a set since i was a kid because there so damn expensive:mad:
you would think they would be cheaper since they have been around forever

THey also have the creator sets which are good for "advanced kiddies" in the 12+ range (not all, but most sets)

They also have sets like, the bridge set, which is a $400 set I think, but its pretty good build, 10+K peices.

Yeah same boat here. If they were less expensive I'd probably lose way to much cash on them.

This is not a good deal because all of the good sets are out of stock due to the B1G1 50% sale last week, and it is not valid on Star Wars.

This is typical with Toys R Us, not to mention they mark up the sets 25-30% compared to other retailers, so their sales might seem great, but the savings is minimal.

Wait until Bricktober, and you will see some better deals.

ROCK ON! My boys are 3 and 4, and they (like me) love Legos. I'll probably be taking advantage of this deal.

I spent about $45 (tax and shipping) and got 3 City sets.

Got the Bi-plane, the power repair bucket truck and the tanker truck. Not a bad deal really for me.

My son wants the bi-plane and the tanker, I wanted the repair bucket truck.

I got three of the more expensive technic sets over the last month. Two were motorized, and I had fun building them.

Now that they have this deal and I just got paid, this is awfully tempting.

About $250 and 4,000+ pieces.

The largest lego set ever was the Millennium Falcon. It was about 30 pounds and had 5500 pieces I think.

The expensive sets you find today are that way because they are out of production. The most complicated Technic set is also out of production and was about 1800 pieces. However, you can only get them for about $600.

I find Technic sets are much more involved than 'creator' sets even if creator sets might have more pieces. With Technic sets, you have to get a lot of axels and gears to line up correctly and to move smoothly, and you have to do a bit of testing and double checking.

The last set I built (the motorized excavator, which has four motors in it), I accidentally got a specific type of gear backwards and had to disassemble 1/3 of the structure to correct it.

I put together the new supercar this weekend, which was almost 2000 pieces. I enjoyed it.

Still have the Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium sitting around for when I have the time. Probably going to get the Pet Store and UCS Star Destroyer next month.

UCS Millennium Falcon took me 2 weeks. What a PITA that was.

Heh!

I like the technic sets, but until my sons just a bit older, I wont start him on those. For now, we are with City and Creator.

Last week there was a Buy one Get one 50% lego sale. I bought both the cargo train sets. I have quite a large amount of lego, the stuff is addicting.

Currently I'm working on collecting all the Collectable minifigs. I have 2 and 3 complete, working on 1,4 and just starting 5.

Was trying to score 2 big buckets of standard legos for my 3 year old to get into them...shipping and tax was nearly %75 of what I would have gotten from the 3rd one. Kind of sucks..will have to watchout this black friday.

If you do a $75 order or more, its free shipping too. So kinda helps to buy larger sets, but at the same time, my budget was only $45 when I did mine, and I was able to do 3 city sets with tax and shipping for about $44.50

ya Ill have to keep that in mind..was about 65$ with 2x25$ sets and the 3rd free .. maybe I (*cough* my son) need more legos! lol, thanks for the heads up.

FrEaKy, thanks on the catch for Free shipping over 75..looks like the tot will share the same experience I did growing up with these things...and now, gives me a reason to revisit my lego architecture :]

I want that fire house one so bad, heh. I still have a piece of kid in me, for sure

yeah! it's great being a dad and having a kid who is into this stuff.

My son's birthday is Dec 5th, and Christmas is right behind that, so I sent the link to the wife.

hell yeah..I'd like to get the lego bridge replica too, just as something to do when I'm bored because it looks kind of challenging. Kind of pricey for me right now though or I'd get it for shits and giggles.

Happy to be of assistance.

Im looking at doing a second order now. I want to get some of the architecture sets for myself and will get my son either the fire station or the police station in the city set for the freebie. The architecture sets will work well with City too, so this should be good.

The one set I want is the Star Destroyer one. :) Maybe when I can afford it.

haha, I was thinking about copping some legos for the nephew for this same reason. His father beat me too it. Oh well, saves me some moneys!:D I'm sure he will enjoy them, damn kid is working with tools and all already.

Awesome, I always liked legos. I picked up the "hard to build" kit for the almighty Star Wars ship :D

Does anyone know when the 'Buy 2 Get 1 Free' for video games sale goes on at Toys R Us??? I know it's some time in October, but not sure of the exact date(s).

Ooh, not a dad yet but you better believe I'm eyeing them for my godson (if an extra set happens to find it's way into my cart, who am I to turn it down? :p ).

Anyone know if the deal is good in-store? I have to head to Sears today and there's a Toys R Us right next to it. Rather just pick stuff up while I'm over there than wait for shipping.

Yeah my wife picked up a few things in store yesterday
