Warm Socket 775 barebones...Shuttle $99 shipped.

might be nice. I need to move the kids pc to smaller desk, this maybe the solution, thanks!

I have had two of them, both ran for 2+ years 24/7, and both had powersupply failures, eventually taking out the motherboard.

The included PSU is 250 watts. The 5750 does 245 watts on load. Finding a good PSU for the mini PSU form factor will be hard.

Nope, the whole systems draws 245 from some reviews. [H]ardOCP's system with the 5750 and an overclocked i7 920 pulled 268 watts doing Furmark. While the 250 PSU situation isn't ideal, it is enough and Shuttle PSUs are decent. Not fantastic, but decent. I would have no problem using this for a backup system to drop my q9550 in if the current mobo dies. Plus is uses up to 8 gigs of ddr3 ram which is dirt cheap right now.

If your needs aren't too demanding this would be a good way to use a 775 CPU for a backup/htc/web browsing kind of system that wouldn't take up much space. I'm just pondering whether I want to throw $100 bucks down for something I won't use anytime soon.

It's DDR3 based, which is a big + in my book. Can drop a 2x4GB kit in for <$30-$35.

Was that 268w from the wall? If so then a 45nm dual, non OC'd should be completely duable in this box.

Same here. $99 is a decent price for it and I've got an old C2D E6850 that I'd love to find a use for, and 2-4GB of memory for it somewhere.

If the power supply was better I've got 2 x 8800 GTX's I could toss in too but then we're heading for overkill, but it sure would be fun. ;)

Be an easier choice if I wasn't still unemployed from last March. :(
