Official [H] Star Wars:The Old Republic Thread

For every 1 person talking negative about the space combat I've heard positives. A friend of mine got to try it out and he said it was fun. To each his own

The resounding word amongst the beta community is that it doesn't quite work. The best parts of the game are easily flashpoints; I would be so pissed if BW spent anymore of its resources on this dull space combat minigame instead of creating more flashpoints (i.e. where the real MEAT of the game is).

sounds to me like hes outgrown MMO"s

Well the other thing that sticks out to me is that guy did not mention a single positive thing about the game, which IMO really takes the review credibility down a few notches. He raised some interesting points that are no doubt valid, but as a whole the review really just comes off as a rant.

Someday MMOs will have to evolve. In the same way that we aren't still playing Donkey Kong, one day we won't be playing WoW clone MMOs, and it's just irritating to see another one with so much money and talent behind it (though I am loathe to refer to any aspect of Bioware in 2011 as talented). How long can we keep blaming bland, samey MMOs on the tastes of the consumer?

so this upcoming weekend is the last one of the month. will we be seeing another beta weekend? i really hope so. hopefully they do a good amount of invites also, one of which will be me :p

So phase 2 of the guild stuff came out and you can add adversaries and allies. Need to know if you guys got that guild up and running. I searched the name and only shows 1 member. If you guys are elsewhere let me know wouldn't mind hunting you republic scum down all day.

So, the guild is PvP only? No PvE?

Well we had to select one...and PvP is the most popular type of style.

It isn't like if you join our clan, that you will always have to play PvP....you can roll another character in a PvE server. :) So join on up!

Totally rolling a Sentinel after my play time in the last beta weekend, I'll probably roll another in this weekend coming up soon too.

those jack asses at bioware need to send out more invites than 1% of the beta sign ups.

just got a beta invite finally, installing game as we speak, guess ill know by end of weekend whether or not to cancel CE.

Dude you're going to give Syntaxx a coronary lol

You should see the thread Danial Erickson posted in the Game Test forums....

The title - Trolololol data log 9/23/2011 still no beta invite for Syntaxx...

Then it goes on to list all his posts on various forums about him not getting an invite ect. Its a really funny post by one of the devs. It is already at about 400 responses from today.

oh man i just got a invite aswell today, cant wait to get it all downloaded and start playing, i wont be geting much sleep this weeknd lol

awesome, A tad too close to holidays for me to play till after.(unless the pre order start is reasonable). Excited though, had a blast in the weekend beta.

at least its not 2012

and the subscription fee is too low imho...i wanted a higher fee to keep the wow kiddies away but alas, its not to be..i'd go so far as to pay extra for a 'mature' server and let the cost be prohibitative to the 'younglings' as the 'enforcement' mechanism...oh well, i can dream

What is the fee? Sorry I am at work and cannot access their site :p

Its $14.99 for one month and how would it being more expensive deter away WoW kids? Kids would find a way even if it was $25.

Plus $14.99 is the maximum people would pay on a monthly basis I'm sure.

But this is great news.

true, thats why they need servers that charge a higher fee...no 'kid' would pay more given the choice but adults would to provide a better gaming environment...we all pay more in real life to get away from the kids (hotels/restaurants/etc)..why not in virtual reality? at least they could try it

Not to mention this comes out days before christmas. It's going to be a clusterfuck for guilds trying to assemble groups.

This is the most horrible logic I have ever heard, and also shows that you don't know anything about WoW, let alone most MMO's.

You might be shocked to find that a lot of the "worst perpetrators" of in-game annoyances tend to be adults.

SW:ToR will only attract those types for a few months, at least until they realize how horrible this game is. Unless your main desire is to roll 15-20 chars because there is literally little else to do but to level to max and reroll. End game doesn't exist.
