So I made a post about 2 years ago when this game was in alpha, then I forgot about it.

Today, I see a game on steam that reminds me of it, and lo-and-behold, its the same game! Now released!

It looks cool. Anyone check it out?

Escapist did a review:

And basically said the time travel mechanics and game defining, but theres some polish needed and bad path finding.

Early in the game you'll discover the "chronoportation" technology, and each subsequent mission will introduce a new function or concept for its use. For example, you'll use your ability to change the past to jump back a few seconds to guide a special operations team into an area without being detected. If you fail, and they are discovered, all you need to do is undo that order and wait for a better time to cross. As you progress, you'll be introduced to more advanced tactics like sending a unit back in time to disable a bomb while simultaneously defending your base in the present by switching back and forth between the two points in time or even "chronocloning" your units by doubling your army with copies of themselves from the past or future. Eventually there is going to be a moment during those first few missions where it finally clicks together for you and you'll start using the system without the game prompting you to do so.
.......
Bottom line: Achron will probably be the most unique RTS you'll play this year. The implementation of free-form time manipulation really takes the genre in some new and interesting directions, but only if you're willing to work through some flaws.

Recommendation: If the mere promise of true time travel gameplay intrigues you and you're forgiving enough to overlook other areas than Archon is worth a look. We are not likely to see something similar any time soon, but if the $30 price tag seems high to you, the devs have promised a demo in the near future.

EDIT: The devs already posted a note saying they've done a LOT of work on the pathfinding, and that will be fixed in the first patch.

I just want to comment on a couple things here.

1) I've not gotten this yet (I'm currently doing a Lets Play series for Minecraft, feel free to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/user/direwolf20?feature=mhee)

2) Theres a LOT of developer communication over on their official forums. They've already released a patch (its out and on steam already too) that improves path finding significantly.

3) They're also working on a demo, but its been a little delayed due to the low review scores. They want to tweak a few things before letting the demo get out there.

4) The $30 price tag is a deal they made back in 2009 (According to the devs on the forums) and they couldn't change it to be more in line with the indy prices that are on steam today. To compensate, they are giving everyone two copies of the game per purchase -- so buy the game, and you get a 2nd key free to give to a friend. This took place retroactively too (Awesome).

5) Theres some mixed reviews out there, biggest complaints seem to be bad pathfinding (already improved and still being worked on) and graphics. Heres a pretty positive review over at RTSGuru: http://www.rtsguru.com/game/389/features/192/Achron-Review.html

I really plan on checking this out, but might wait for a few patches before spending the money. That'll give me time to finish Minecraft too :).

Has anyone reviewed or looked at how the games time concepts work in multiplayer?

Yea, reportedly the mulitplayer is where the game REALLY shines, and the time manipulation adds a huge amount of strategic options for multiplayer.
