SSD Caching - do not understand it. p67 vs z68

im looking for a gaming mobo and doing research (noobie). p67 and z68 are my interests right now. difference seems to be onboard video and SSD caching, is that it? i dont fully get SSD caching-

cache is supposed tobe small to have its speed good. SSD is superfast somehow and if it is installed as a cache, it can be a super large cache to support larger HD. is my assumption correct that the larger HD u get, the slower it is (needle in a haystack)?

is this the future of cache/.hard drive? if so, i might as well get z68; otherwise if it is just a nice trend that may/might not last as the technology is not very efficient/there is a better solution, then ill stick with a p67.

I recently built a computer for a friend using the SSD caching on the Z68. I used a small SSD that I got cheap and can say it works great. The first time you load a program it is a little slow but after that they fly. It is also nice to just have the C drive for those that don't want to watch where programs and files are kept.

Being small, isn't what makes a cache fast. As in on a cpu, the cache is small because it's built into the cpu itself(at least for modern cpus) and building a bigger cache takes more transistors.

Cache's being fast is also a relative term, for a cpu going to pickup data and/or instructions from memory would take ages(and greatly bottle neck the cpu).

For storage, getting data from the harddrive would take ages, compared to a ssd as a cache.

Cache's just have to be faster and smaller than the thing they're caching(otherwise it's not worth using it as a cache). IE for a cpu, on die cache is faster than memory. For storage, a ssd is faster than the harddrive.
