Finally my prayers have been answered. This phone sports a 1280x800 super AMOLED screen (hopefully "plus" as I hate pentile).

Sure 5.3" is a bit on the large size, but I can live with that. With this phone, who the hell needs a tablet :p

I can't tell though, is the stylus that comes with it a nice active digitizer pen or is it one of those crappy capacitive stylus pens.

Either way this will probably be my next phone. Just need a price and a release date.

Thread making 101: Post link in OP that's relavent to the subject. ;)

I'll pass on carrying a brick around with me 24/7. I have horrible calligraphy too so nothing would be legible on that for me, lol.

Also, I would expect this no earlier than 4 months. Probably more like 6-8.

I think it will be out sometime this year. if they wait til next year the hardware will be outdated, especially with 28/32nm stuff coming out.

Maybe to the UK and Rogers/Canada. I see nothing in that link or video that even hints at a release date even over seas. After the GS2 debacle, I wouldn't bet on it.

I am just going off that I think there won't be the same demand for this due to its size so hopefully it will launch in the US at the same time or shortly after.

This phone looks really awesome. I'd love to have it. Especially if it comes with Android 4.x when it launches (has 2.3 now, but that may just be temporary). I'd really like a 5.3. inch screen, might need to buy baggier pants though, haha.

Unfortunately I also expect this might be a 2012 launch for us. So I'll probably end up getting the Droid Prime or Nexus Prime this fall instead.

Very disappointing - I have enormous hands so for me, the Note was about like an iphone for most people. :(

[Update] Looks like the rep that GBM spoke to was mistaken. Samsung actually hasn’t announced availability for ANY region at this point. It happens, I suppose. Folks should know that you can’t fully trust the word of a product specialist in this day and age. With that, there is certainly hope that Samsung will end up bringing these devices State-side.

No chance of getting an ICS upgrade from Samsung. #NeverAgain

Well you better hope the carriers can subsidize this thing with the normal prices, because this thing it retarded expensive right now. If you planned on getting it unsubsidized, then you better save up a grand or so for it unless they can get the price somewhat reasonable by the time it comes to the states.

That's the price in Europe. You realize they have a 25% VAT tax. It is much better to compare the galaxy note to other available phones in the area (Engadget is such a crap tech blog these days).

The claimed price of the note is $1000
The galaxy s 2 in the area is over $800
The iPhone 4 32GB unsubsidized is probably close to $1000, yet I don't see Engadget making a big about that.

My bet is the galaxy note will cost around $650-750 unsubsidized state side or $200-250 with contract.

i can see this thing being $299 or more easily when it launches, its like a damn tablet phone. People will try to get a all in one device and this looks like its it.

I was so stoked when I saw the Note. I went out & pre-ordered from Expansys-USA.com. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

$249-299 is likely - no more. Read: Droid Bionic.

it's time to make war on skinny jeans males !!!!

I actually have skinny jeans and normal (semi baggy) jeans as there's a war going on in my mind as well. Skinny jeans look better but are just less comfortable and offer less carrying room. However baggy jeans are more comfortable, offer way more carrying room, but you look worse. Pros and Cons, pros and cons....lol

BOT: This phone might be too big (I finally said it...lol. never thought I would either) for me care out in the world. The Prime at 4.5" or 4.65" might just be the limit as to size of a pocket-able phone IMO.

Still cool but just not sure it's for me. My Bionic will work until the Prime drops and that should hold me over until something special happens in this market because just making them incrementally bigger every release is not the best path.

Lol skinny jeans don't look better.

This would fit into my cargo shorts just nice, Or any of my jeans.

This is in my top 4 choices of phones for my next upgrade along with the iPhone 5, Nexus Galaxy and the latest Motorola "Droid Razr" Am-oled screen with notification light and Kevlar OMG.

Hmmm the note at 1280x800 on 5.3" or sII HD at 1280x720 on 4.65"

Blah, the announcement of the sII with 720p resolution almost confirms the nexus prime will be 720p. The us is just starting to get the sII

Makes you wonder what the difference between the prime and the s2hd is/will be. Specs now look identical

Positive

ο 8 Megapixel camera
ο 5.3 Inch Super Amoled screen
ο Fast processor
ο Can be used as Smartphone and tablet

Negative

ο Might be not portable enough for some mobile users
ο Stylus could get lost easily

I think the stylus should be in the positive too, you know, as long as you are good at not losing things.

this thing could rock. personally, I welcome the size.. my smartphone is my netbook..thus..what carrier is it headed too?

This looks like the perfect - PERFECT phone for me.

I have enormous hands - over 11" from pinky tip to thumb so in my hands this fits about like an iphone does for other people.

I also always wish I could easily take notes on my phone.

AT&T compatible radios?

Dammit.

I have Sprint - which I like, but I would consider Verizon.

My work cell is ATT and it drops calls constantly.

holy ccraaappp psych2l great video - that's nuts! looks like kim jong doll from team america LOL
