I'd like to know that as well. I can tell you "yes" as far as Detroit goes to a point.

Stupidly and unwittingly I had killed the weapons dealer and his bodyguard that were in the downtown apartments so I guess that's the end of me getting a silencer this go through.

I'm only like 6 hours in and I have about 50 saves. :3

I've actually been mean to myself on purpose. One save. Overwriting.

After that it's the auto saves and that's it.

I've been strict about it and between that and highest difficulty and all the assists turned off it makes things that much more compelling, challenging, and forces me to be a lot more disciplined.
It really makes it Deus Ex for me. I make a mistake? That's too bad.

You can NOT go back. There is a point in each city where it warns you that continuing will drop all existing side quests.

I'm so happy with this game. It's flipping fantastic. Massive fan of the original, not so much Invisible War, not sure what happened there. But HR, fuck, i want to kiss the creators.

Me, too.

It's not a perfect by any means but overall they definitely gave us Deus Ex and I'm thrilled with it.

I discovered that cameras will actually react to bodies. I was in the police station after talking my way inside (I had already snuck in earlier) and went back up to the weapons locker to pick up some more stuff to sell. I walked right into a guard in the room and knocked him out right infront of the door,w hich was open. A few seconds later the camera swung around, saw him lying in the door, and set off an alarm- I was very surprised by this!

lol,

I dropped a body off the whorehouse roof in china. Then a good 10 minutes later i'm walking down the street with no "alarmed" or "hostile" labels then BAM 4 cops start shooting at me! lol... let's just say I loaded a save where I hadn't dropped a body off a roof onto civilians.

Indeed. Covering your tracks is essential.

The default holster and grenade buttons are too close together. How do I know? Because I iced a limb clinic attendant with a concussion mine when she was telling me to put my gun away, and I killed David Serif with a frag grenade when some flunky next to him was bitching about having seen "too much violence already" without me pointing a plasma rifle at her.

That's awesome! i'm loving how much more realistic these games are getting...

Yeah i noticed that everyone in the game has Parkinson. Hard to watch. Great game otherwise! Hell' id even buy the DLC AND play it!

You do know you can rebind them right? I have holster bound to one of my extra mouse buttons.

Yeah, I do, that's why I said default. Would reccomend people change it. Took me two times to learn my lesson.

I rarely ever stick to default controls... especially when it comes to knifing and grenades... I always make it one of my mouse buttons

Yea, I've twice droped an emp nade on myself in an elevator. i need to find a new bind. Maybe X for holster/draw.

When I went into Manderly's apartment and opened his locked room, I didn't look around the first time- just walked straight in and was greeted with a boom so loud I thought it was going to wake up everyone sleeping in the house and instant death.

Second time I opened the door and ran away. I saw the 3 mines blinking this time, but didn't know what to do about them, so I picke dup a cardboard box, stood behidn his desk, and chucked it into the room. I thought it was hilarious how there was this huge explosion, but none of the papers on his bed were disturbed and his terminal still worked.

Finished the game and am a third of the way into my second playthrough.

As a fan who played the original when it first came out... and has played it a couple dozen times since, I was delightfully pleased with the job Eidos Montreal did. As others have said, it is not perfect, but they got SOOOO many things right I just cannot find the urge to complain. One of the best games I've played in a long time... and I've played a lot of games.

Yes and no. You can't save the quests, but you can save gear. But this only if you actually leave for another city.

Leaving for highland park doesn't count, you come back. It isn't until you leave again.

You return to each hub city once, each time there are new side missions. But any gear you stock is saved. Assuming you don't put it in a location that is affected.

You can walk up to and disarm mines if you move very slowly. Crouch and hold walk, and move up and press the use key on them.

32 hours to finish on Deus Ex difficulty, with Hitman 2 style tactics. I ghosted a few levels, but ended up strategically killing/knocking out quite a few people by the end. I did 99% of the sidequests, besides hacking the Hive pad and one or two others. I had a lot of fun with it, aside from a few minor bugs and performance issues.

I stuck to a single save and dealt with my mistakes, too. I think the next playthrough will focus on combat, as I was mostly stealth/hack/armor this time.

I finished the game in 38 hours.. playing on "Give Me Deus Ex" with object highlight off, waypoint marker off, targeting reticle off, and takedown prompts off.

I died quite a bit.. but I made it through and had a great time.

In all 38 hours, I never encountered more than one or two small issues and absolutely no crashes or freezes.

How does the game handle you killing major quest NPCs early on?

IF they are important to the main storyline, they cannot be killed. i.e. You can't kill David Sarif in his office, etc. However, supposedly when their role to play in the story is over, you can kill them.

There are two NPCs that are in killable locations that do move the story forward, but I haven't tried to see if they are actually killable, there are some invincible NPCs for instance.

That isn't a main story mission though. If you include side missions than a lot of NPCs are killable. If you kill them before you get what you need it just fails/cancels the mission.

I just wanted to point out that it was hilarious. :)

I laughed my ass off when I accidentally killed the last limb clinic attendant with a mine on the front of the glass after she yelled at me to put my gun away and I hit G instead of H.

Finally beat it, 19 hours on Deus Ex difficulty mostly sneaking through. Seems like I missed the "warrior priest" side-quest though, going by my achievements.

Pretty incredibly game and I hope they don't rush the inevitable sequel.

I would not complain one bit about an HD remake of the original Deus Ex. Don't touch anything, just give me revamped graphics and I would be good to go.

Does anyone know where your game saves for Steam version are stored? I want to back them up and delete all but a few. I googled but couldn't find anything solid.

The sequel probably won't be for awhile, assuming of course the sales justify one (hopefully). Thief 4, or a possible reboot, is the current game being worked on by Eidos Montreal.

Nothing new. They were doing that as far back as MGS on the PSX.

So far I'm enjoying this game. Getting a little dry in some parts but not bad. Personally I've experienced non of the issues brought up in this thread. Game loads up within seconds for me, no mouse issues, and no game crashes. Dunno what could be the issue, I seem to have similar settings as the people who are experiencing all of those problems.
