Ok I built my pc over the summer and my first mobo went and died and killed my 2600K when it went. Now tonite I was playing the Space Marine Demo and it BSOD'd on me and said my ATI driver had stopped responding. It did its memory dump and shut down now nothing will boot up. I am getting power to my monitor and a signal as it lights up when I reboot. But no power from USB and I cant even get to a post screen!!! What is up with these Motherboards. I wasnt overclocked, I wasnt running any background apps. I am totally at a loss. I dont think its the vid card but I dont have another to test with. It took them over 30 days the last time to ship me a new motherboard. Has anyone else had so much trouble with these motherboards??? Should I just dump this MSI piece of junk and get something else? Any other ideas I should try to get my pc working. I am at a total loss.

I have used two MSI P67A-GD43 mainboards in client builds (2500k, GTX 465) (2600k, GTX 570) and they both performed to my expectations and could do 4ghz on auto voltage. I'm sure I could have got 4.5+ easily.

Well I have no idea what to think. I just know I dont want to go through another 30day RMA with them. Has anyone else had problems with these boards like this???

You don't even list what power supply you have in your sig unless I'm just missing it. I would assume it is your power supply killing components and not 2 bad motherboards in a row.

I did RMA a 775 board about a year ago that I bought knowing it was bad. MSI warranty is by the date of manufacture not by registering so I was able to send it in. I would say the entire process took about 1 and a half to two weeks and I got a fully working board in exchange.

unless you get two from one bad batch, there really shouldn't be a chance of getting two bad ones. I'd check the power supply... If its not active pfc then it could be a junker, killing stuff off left and right. Old emachines were notorious for this. What kind of PSU are you using?

Yep, I also suspect a bad psu. Must not be a very high end part, since no mention of it in sig. I have seen people trash expensive builds with crap psu's before.

sounds like PSU is the culprit.....chances are dam low you kill two builds for two bad mobos in a row....

Nope not disappeared just at the pc shop and they are stumped too. Power Supply is a Corsair 750wt. It tested out fine, they are putting in another new mobo as we speak and are gonna RMA my board for me as they know what I went through the last time. Just waiting to hear back if it took out the processor again or not. It wasnt power related in any way I could see. The power comes from my APC backup which is 1500wts. I was gonna get a 2nd 6970 to crossfire but the card is fried too. Not gonna add a 2nd vid card til I know this isnt a mobo issue. Memory checked out good in tests so that is fine. I am at a loss to understand how this keeps dying.

Not to rain on your parade, but If you are losing parts other than the motherboard such as processors/ram/video cards etc.. This all points to the power supply. Your processor and video card run on different voltages.

If the shop that is doing the work for you just hooked up one of those little testers to your power supply that lights up when power is supplied to it I would seek out another shop. Properly testing a power supply goes much further than turning it on and verifying that it operates. There are voltage tolerances to check, the push pin connectors could be bad. The wire harness from the power supply to the mainboard could be wired wrong. I have seen that before, and ended up with what used to be a white plug on the board becoming black, killing the board and the memory.

yep nothing else could cause your other components to go bad besides the PSU. Even Corsair PSU's can be DOA.

I did have a 8400gs I do think a mobo took out though.....

Replaced the power supply to be safe after the first system death. It was a bad trace on the first mobo according to the RMA on it. Just waiting to see what this RMA says this time around. Processor seems fine its getting a whole weekend bench run in another system w/ my ram. If they check out on Monday morning then back in my box they go, as they have several GD55's new in the shop. Then its wait for the 6970 RMA to get done. Never had to do one with XFX, its on the lifetime warr, and yes I did register within the 30 days. Anyone know how quick they are on RMA's??

Could be that you are getting power through the ground... even a UPS will not protect from that.

I've seen a couple systems that were taken out because of this. Both times it was "electricians" that were to blame.

When I was in college, they hooked power to ground and fried a whole bunch of systems... My CRT monitor went up in smoke. The whole hall smelled of burt electronics for a couple weeks.

The other time was when the power company was working on some lines and they hooked power up to ground. The people I knew ended up getting a brand new system paid for by the power company.

So yeah, if you have a short anywhere in your house that is giving power to ground every once in a while, it could very well be killing stuff repeatedly.
