Official Deus Ex: Human Revolution thread

Oh goody, reduced load times, and mouse sensitivity issues addressed, two of the biggest issues people were annoyed with.

Thanks, but wow, that's not intuitive at all. The UI for inventory management completely sucks. Not even any basic drag and drop FFS!
Uh, what? The inventory definitely has drag and drop. You can drag anything you want to your hot bar.

Does David Sarif's voice bother anyone else? I dunno, I just find his voice annoying, personally. I get this "bad guy" vibe from him.

People were comparing this game to other franchises, know what it reminds me of? The anime: Ghost in the Shell. It has a lot of the same concepts, cybernetic implants, the in-head communication bit, police investigations on crime and corruption, the whole 'is a person still human' bit, human purists, a whole "ghost in the shell" kind of thing, the music has that kind of atmosphere too. Which is really cool, cause I love that anime. This game reminds me of that in a big way.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

I have to say overall this is one of the few games these days that manages to get just about everything right! I'm just about done with the first area and it has been nothing but a pleasure. Those subtle throwbacks to the first game are nice too (guy whistling the original theme, "NYC streets" track on the radios).

Mouse sensitivity/lag is definitely fixed as are the long load times.

Stuttering is still there, but I only notice it every once in awhile. Not a deal breaker (for me) and I'm sure this will get addressed to some degree.

^ Good to hear..

And I agree, I'm loving this game, people complain about the graphics, but they aren't bad, it's like a mix of the old and the new, would I want it better? sure, but it's not a deal breaker for me in this game, there is just so much depth to this game, I love it. I'll have some commentary about the graphics in our gemeplay performance eval.

for those that purchased the GameSpot Explosive Mission Pack, anyone know at what point the 'Tong's Rescue' mission shows up in-game?...is it easy to discover or do you have to dig around to get the mission?

Small patch just released on steam. Reduced load times...let's see how well it works.

I don't think I've ever seen a Dev decrease default mouse sensitivity. Kudos, because that's a problem for 95% of releases today especially FPS. Even with 400-450DPI the lowest setting is still like 100x too fast....

I played maybe 20 minutes last night before I crashed and went to bed. I'm probably gonna get a chance to play more this evening but I'm looking forward to it, the mouse sensitivity bugged me so we'll see if it's any better.

Comcast must of upped their packages in my area. I went from having 12Mb sustained / 14-16Mb burst to 15Mb sustained / 18Mb-20Mb burst. It really helped with the Steam download last night :) Still paying the same price I did for my 3Mb line in 2004.

I agree, the gameplay, pacing and overall story of the game more than make up for the "outdated" graphics. I also feel the overall artistic design matches the mood of the game perfectly.

Seems like everybody is loving this game. Cant find much bad being said about it anywhere other than a few bitches about the graphics not being rig busters. I can live with that so long as it still looks good.

Think Ill wait for it to come down a little more in price before I bite though. Maybe $40.

Horray. Patch also addressed my other complaints. Hit space to skip through conversations and my extra mouse button key binds now save when I quit and relaunch the game.

Yeah, the graphics are a bit of a throwback, but the overall look, feel and mood of this game is like the first game, which is a good thing. Eidos Montreal nailed it.

Nope, they aren't bad. Just a bit old looking. I'm liking the gameplay so far.

I'm finding this really hard to get into. :(
I want to like it but the controls don't feel natural at all to me.

I felt the same thing when the first time I powered up the game, but after an hour of gameplay, it's like 2nd nature for me now. You'll get used it.

What? Have you ever played a fps on the pc before?

I play PC games most of the time, but that Lean feature throws me out. Most of the time if you play non lethal, you'll be using alot of leaning. I think that's what he meant the control is a little overwhelming.

I set that to toggle instead of holds. Helps big time.

Make sure you build up your stealth as well. That also helps big time.

As for me, I just can't get enough of it. I've had a hell of time trying to get things done in that police station. Suffice to say there's been a lot of cat and mouse, bait and switch, a key use of a stun gun here and there...I'm trying to be Mr. Nice Non Lethal Guy when it comes to cops and people like that.

I'm playing at max difficulty and I've been pretty impressed with the AI.

Is it just me, or is the rocket launcher kind of weak and pointless? It doesn't seem to do all that much damage, since 1 emp grenade is more effective, and it takes up an insane amount of inventory room for the weapon + ammo. Feel like I wasted a point or two for more inventory space just to carry it around for "emergencies." :p

I paid $34 for it for new from greenmangaming.com. They were offering 15% off for pre-orders and you could use the 20SUM-MERSA-VINGS coupon code for another 20%. See if that still works?

Press print screen then paste into paint or download an app like fraps

In the intro part of the game, a remixed version of the UNATCO theme plays... This is my favorite song in the game. I've downloaded the BETA Music soundtrack, HOWEVER, the song "Sarif Intro" is the first part, but the song ends at 1:50. The UNATCO Theme part is after this.

Have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCGBz...ailpage#t=169s (At 2:48)

Any idea if I can get the original music file of this?

I'm doing the same thing and having a good time. Tried blasting a few of them... but it's fun to stun the hell out of them and move onto the next level/area.

If you play your cards right with the guy at the front desk you can get free and clear access to the entire building. Walk anywhere, no questions asked.

I'm having success as a violent hacker. Things are working well on my setup, about 55fps avg but some stutters present for sure. Feels like Oblivion type stutters, not a real problem.

Combat is smooth, things look great and I'm having fun, for sure. The AI shoots well ha ha. Love this game.

Game is awesome so far. The update really helped with the load times, and that was my only gripe.

Well the tranq rifle definitely kept me from getting that Pacifist achievement.

Oh well, at least I managed to beat it at its toughest difficulty, and *I* know I played it in a nonlethal fashion.

What? Have you ever played a fps on the pc before?

Yes, quite a few. The controls still seem a bit off to me. I don't like the cover system at all which makes it hard to get into being stealthy. Everything feels clunky to me. Getting in and out of cover and crouch feel sluggish. Iron sights are even worse. Maybe it will get better as I unlock better skills, I've only just started, but as of now I'm finding it hard to get into.
