it includes it but it's not enabled, with no way to protect it spammers and jackasses could have a field day spamming it. Nothing we could do to stop them either since we can't kick them or things like that.

I'll have to say that lag was virtually non-existent yesterday for me at least and we had quite a few peeps online. Even my mine cart was working smoothly (Once I figured out that powered rails work opposite in MC Mania). :D

Do you think we could give the Elevator mod another go? With the lag gone from the auto carts it may not kick people now. :)

I agree the lag was non existent this weekend/ yesterday. Working great actually.

I thought of that myself and assumed that was the reason. Thanks for the confirmation.

My nephew got the game from me today , hes 11 years old and very very good at the game.

his nick is TFB2000

Keep in mind hes speak french and some little english. But he know the rules

G1, I need to know if we have an OK to build/use the sand machine that Gooch created.

my opinion is it is ok, since it can only create sand or gravel, and it would remove the need to strip mine deserts and beaches, which kinda ruins parts of the map.

3. No nurse joy :(

huh?

How's it make the sand? Basically just duping the items? My only qualm with that is more out of principle. I too hate strip mining beaches/deserts, but we did have to take pretty harsh actions from previous item duping.

It also means that making TNT would be far easier...

... which might not be a bad thing for me. since I want to expand my lair... i think :)

Major changes on the server as are follows:

There are no longer to many chiefs and not enough indians on the server. We have redone the admin / moderator listing and it is as follows; please understand these changes ARE for the better of the server and do not reflect feelings on any one specific person;

Admins: Insomnibyte, NickTheNut
Moderators: DGerry, Zexx, babyblue, Rampage_x

We do not have enough users on at any one given time to justify having 3 admins on, 1 mod and only 1 builder at the most. This is not necissary when the job of the admin and mod are only to give people build privledges.

Again, this is not an attack on anyone who was a mod or admin and have been demoted to veteran status. This in no way lowers you or should have a bearing on how you think we like you!

Other changes, to occur as of 1.8 are as follows;

Our primary map will stay the same, the one we are on now is our permanent map. However, to meet the wants of those who want something new, we will be expanding the map out 3000 blocks when the upgrade happens, so 1.5K blocks will be added PER side, this will allow the NPC towns and caverns to spawn outside of our original map bounderies, also allowing us to make the original map towns, central hubs! So people will still get the new content, such as the new building matierals and whatnot if they stay inside the town boundry, but if you venture out you will than come upon the new NPC villages and whatnot.

Each new update that adds significant changes, we will do the same, expand the boundaries of the town a little more each time. So new content will ALWAYS be added, but it will not take away from those who love area's they already have.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to msg me (Insomnibyte) or NickTheNut about server changes. If you have questions or concerns regarding builder status or anything regarding this, you can msg me, NickTheNut, Zexx, DGerry, Rampage or babyblue.

Enjoy!

I am against it really. It works by exploiting the fact that the server can't keep up with the rapid block changes. If everyone started doing this the server would bog down to a crawl.

im also tired to see desolate sandpit and fucked up terrain from strip mining. We need sand ... but its on the surface , not like cobble or dirt.

I like this idea, but two questions/concerns?

1) Are you guys sure it's going to work this way? Where as the newly generated areas get the new 1.8 goodies? It sounds great in theory, but is it possible a "1.7 map" stays a 1.7 map?

A question about the current limits. I know a player actually get stops before the world ends currently. Is this the limit you're speaking of, or is the current limit the size of the generated world?

2) Is there a travel system that exists that we can add? I'm not sure how to do so, but the current world is already hard enough to venture as it is. This is especially if we keep adding area that possibly will be a requirement to go to if there are new materials that only exist there. I know the warp system helps out a bunch, but that feels kind of cheap and there would never be enough to make any difference..

There is no alternate travel system, if you could travel faster it would cause a lot of lag on the server because you would load a LOT more chunks at one time.

There is no such thing as a 1.# map, maps don't have versions. When a chunk is rendered for the first time it picks from all the possible items and generates. This is the reason I have the border on in the first place. As much as people think otherwise the game is still in beta and content is being added. if I had left the map without a border you might as well kissed 1.8 good by or gave up everything everyone has worked for lol.

everything past the current 3k border will be 1.8 so villages will load and new materials will spawn.

EDIT: the sand machine is most likely temp anyway. it is a glitch and will probably be fixed in 1.8 anyway.

Is the current 3k limit the player limit or the actual map edge as I know the player limit is before the map edge?

Also, I'm not sure you're wanting to edit the world, but, what about removing completely empty chunks so they can be regenerated with the world editor?

Its the player limit not the MAP limit. The map loads an extra 200 units outside of the map edge for "scenery" so that you are not just staring at a water world beyond like in the Alpha test stages.

When we add an extra 3000 units, in reality it adds an extra 3400 total units. the extra 400 would be 200 per side as scenery.

Sweet, that means I can finally mine that clay that's been staring me in the face forever. :p

I must say, I'm slightly disappointed that we couldn't all agree to get a new map up in here. Especially after everyone started nuking the shit out of this world.

But why the switch from a completely new 1.8 map + current map to just increasing the borders?

because Multiple maps has several things added with it.

  1. Extra mods to accommodate it
  2. More memory usage
  3. We are trying to cut down on warps, it definitely wouldn't help
  4. backing up 1 world will be easier then backing up more then 1

Also, as much of a fuss we've had when we were just THINKING of starting 100% over... can you imagine doing that every content patch? because it was already stated if we have a new main 1.8 map that it's only temp? every content patch it would get deleted... hardly anyone would want to play on that.

Then the world would be all mine! MUHAHAHAH

No but really, sad Nick is sad.

Is there any possibility of a fresh map once MC is final?

Sure, state your side.

What are the benefits to a new map?
(Not for me, I want one too, for the "others")

Well for one we will remove all the unfinished/abandoned builds.
All the strip-mined, and blasted terrain will go away.
The world will be uniformly new. Meaning we won't have rings around the world of new content. So we can have above ground ruins, npc villages, rivers, lakes, oceans, and islands, through out the entire world. Not just on the outer boundaries of the world.

And honestly, if once MC Final is out and we still hold onto this world, I will probably just go back to SSP. Not that one player leaving really matters. I just don't see the need to treat this game like an MMO. It's not.

I say we just remove all unused/abandoned chunks currently and let everything else re-generate. That way we have a plenty of "new" map and all the creations remain.

Best of both worlds?

That does sound like A LOT lot of work though... I know I wouldn't want to be the one doing it. :D
