I finally have my 4.5Ghz overclock stable, and with my gtx 480 I think I might finally be able to meet minimum sysreqs for this game. Anyone else doing an overhaul in anticipation of the big patch??? I am awfully excited and OMG ENDERMAN

Not sure if this is going to be enough. You need more video cards to SLI. And how much ram is in this rig? :p

I need to get back into MineCraft. What all is coming in the new patch?

be sure to get at least a geforce 4xx or radeon 5xxx graphic card - Minecraft 1.8 will feature tesselation

Fully loaded SR2 rig if you want to run it at 1920x1200 or higher.

You better not be on SB/old i5s, because otherwise your going to struggle to get the 24GB memory that this game will probably need after a while running :D

I heard that 1.8 switches over to the Crysis 2 engine and will also feature deathmatch via battlenet.

:p

The best fix is 4 580's and 32gbs of memory and then Maybe, Just MAYBE youll have that game working.

Dubbed the "Adventure Update", meant to flesh out the game a bit and make exploration and combat more rewarding.[1][2] Note that this is not Adventure Mode.[3][4]
Fixes and Changes:
Shift+Click on items will work correctly.[5]
Labels for items will be added.[6]
Redstone circuits not working after /time set x glitch going to be fixed in SMP.[7]
User placed leaf blocks won't decay.[8]
Clouds won't go through buildings anymore.[9][10]
Rain and snow will now render faster.[11]
Zombies will drop a new item instead of feathers.[12]
Features:
At least 9 new crafting recipes.[13]
Different game modes.[14]
Limited flying in Creative mode
"At least one new mob"[15]
New Enderman mob. [16][17]
New features in the terrain generator; things which will only appear in new worlds/chunks[18]
Optional[19] NPC Villages[20] with farms[21] and "town borders".[22][23]
Possibility of players to "claim" land in villages. [24]
Wells for villages. [25]
Villages will contain an NPC smith, who will own a forge that uses lava.[26]
Underground Ravines including canyons on the surface and ledges to walk on.[27][28]
Strongholds[29], consisting of 4 new blocks: Stone Brick, Mossy Stone Brick, Cracked Stone Brick, and Iron Bars.[30] (names unconfirmed)
Totally new biome code. [31]
New Mushroom biome[32] which will include Huge Mushrooms, both brown and red.[33]
Larger Biomes [34]
Possibly Rivers flowing through/inbetween biomes.[35]
New combat Mechanics[20]
Critical hits[36]
Hold-to-charge bows[37]
Player blocking attack animation and hostile mob attack animations, possibly more player animations[38][39]
New farming options, more interesting farming.[36][40][15]
This could be the Cocoa Bean tree Jeb was talking about.[20]
Plantable pumpkins and melons, each with a central stem that grows to max size and spawns a fruit next to it.[41]
Animal breeding.[42]
New Food System:
Food no longer heals directly but indirectly.[43]
There is now a food meter. [44] [43]
The food meter is possibly optional since Notch has said that it will be possible to play without food.[45]
Food will be stackable.[46][47][48]
Food takes 1.6 seconds to consume.[43]
There is now a food eating animation.[49][43]
There will most likely be sound effects for consuming food.[49]
5 new food items.[50]
Cooked Chicken.[51]
Raw Chicken.[52]
Raw Beef and Steak.[48][53][54]
New Melon block, but not yet confirmed as food.
Cooked Pork now looks different.[48]
New achievements:
Kill a skeleton with an arrow at 50 meters.[55]
Possibly Shoot the Moon with an arrow.[56]
Sprinting: By double pressing the forward button, the player will move faster.[57]
Sprinting will have a drawback, such as depleting your food bar.[58]
Hitting a mob while "rushing" (sprinting?) sends them flying.[59]
Glass Panes.[60]
Possibly Spike blocks, Jeb initially considered Spike Pistons, but then pondered making a Spike block that can be pushed by the Sticky Piston.[61]
Arrows will be stuck on mobs when they hit.[62]
Graphics / UI / Audio:
New improved lighting — day/night cycles will not require chunk updates.[63] Lighting will be updated via a texture, whose coordinates are the block's sky light and block light levels.[64]
Warmer light from torches.[65]
New texture for Moss Stone.[66]
Sliders for field of view and gamma in video options.[67][68][69]
Redesigned HUD, including two new features, food and experience bars.[70]
New launcher.[71][72]
Possibly a web Applet launcher.[73]
A lot of new sounds and some changes, such as minecart sounds and shear sounds, also a change in the sound of rain.[74][75]
New bow sounds (including hits), new door sounds, big slimes sound, and walking skeletons sound more skeletony.[76]
Possibly new particle effects.[77]
The ability to see the world seed when pressing F3.
Multiplayer:
Multiplayer server list[78][79]
Improved server join screen: The server join screen will feature a list of servers[80]
Player List - Press tab in multiplayer and player list comes up.[81]
The ability to allow moderators to enter creative mode in SMP.[82]
Modding:
Modding Support.[36]
Including easier changing of the max level (map) height.[83]

Speaking of minecraft, I've been playing around with Mods quite a bit recently. If any of you haven't looked at the mods available for this game, there are a LOT.

IndustrialCraft + BuildCraft are 2 mods I highly recommend. Theres also a ton of smaller ones that add one or two things. The AETHER is also cool.

Heres a video I did featuring a small collection of mods I have installed. On my Youtube theres also some videos of Industrialcraft, buildcraft, and other things.

He's simply excited about the new patch, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, he cheeked the system requirements by talking about his new rig :p

It's a homage to the days of old when graphics were garbage and gameplay was king.
