HOT!? - Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 1366 RT Rev. B - $35.99

QC? You mean uneven mounting surface? I personally did not have a problem with my TRUE. Never sanded it down and still gave me great temps when I ran my i7 920 at 4.2ghz 24/7.

This is a great deal but does not come with 1155 of AM3 mounting hardware. Just something to keep in mind. I already have a True buy I'm still thinking of picking one of these up.

Yeah. But that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone. Never had a TRUE, but from everything I've read on here, it requires some "attention" to unleash it's full potential.

with the thermalright hr-02 macho at $43 (frozencpu, out of stock), this isn't that good of a deal

It's a much better looking cooler in my opinion at least and is also considerably smaller than the Macho and the performance isn't too far off.

No one "needs" to lap a True. The difference between lapped and unlapped isn't all that big. The only problem that the true had with the shitty mounting system for 775, it was very loose. That has been fixed for a long time now. That cooler is still the benchmark.

Does anyone know if this would this fit in an Antec 900?

Fits in a 300, don't see why it wouldn't fit in a 900.

+1
Never had any issues with mine, from when I used it with my Q9450 to now using it with my 2600K. Thought about lapping it, decided not to spend $20 on sandpaper to do so.

The Side/Door fan on the original 900 will contact the top of the true on some MBs, you either have to forgo the side fan, rotate the cooler facing up/down in some cases, or make a ghetto adapter that lets you rotate the side fan from it's "diamond" orientation to a flat square orientation.

Not sure if this is true with whatever revisions the 900 might be up to now.

I have the TRUE black version and its one of the best coolers I've ever used. Thermalright has always been my go to company for air cooling. It wouldn't fit in my old case, Silverstone TJ-03, so I had to upgrade my case to accommodate this heatsink, Silverstone TJ-10.

The Venomous X mounting kit is needed if you don't have one (for 1155/1156, etc). About $12 and shipping. AMD kit about $8 and..

How does this compare to the corsair H50 that was recently on sale at best buy for 39.99?

The TRUE I would guess would be on par or probably better. The TRUE can keep extremely hot CPU's cool. This is about half price on the TRUE's original price. Thermalright's mounting is also second to none IMO. It made me switch from a Tuniq Tower to the TRUE after I bought my brother one and saw their mounting system.

I actually replaced my lapped True Black with an H50 and with the same fans in push/pull I didn't notice any difference in performance.
