HighPoint RocketRAID 2782 PCI-e X16 SAS/SATA 6Gb/s RAID Controller - $127

Had a gift card and just got one for $27.67. Damn, why was this thing listed for 85% (over $700) off?

hmm... too good to be true?

Not a fan of highpoint but what the heck.

I have a bad feeling about this. This must have been a pricing mistake by amazon. I really hope they don't cancel everyones orders.

seems to be a very solid SAS device - picked one up at this price to trade for something else or use for a future build :)

When it works, it works well. Rebuild seems to be ok. Converting from one type of raid to another is bugged and may result in a destructive rebuild.

Performance was above expectations.

This has to be a price mistake. In for one.

I'll be waiting for the cancellation email pretty soon. EST ship date is in 15 days. So, not crossing my fingers for this.

OMG! I've been waiting for newegg to restock the 2720SGL for $139 for my server build and I can't believe I just purchased it's super big brother for $127 compared to $849. Truly unbelievable.

I already bought the 2720 a few weeks ago, but had to jump on this for the cancellation e-mail ;)

Anyone know how long amazon usually takes to catch something like this and send out a cancellation email? Is there even a slight possibility that they might miss this mistake and we all get our cards shipped?

That possibility always exists.

But this says shipping in 2-5 weeks. Most of the ones that get missed ship out right away.

Just in case anyone wanted to see this from the amazon website:

"With respect to items sold by Amazon.com, we can't confirm the price of an item until you order; however, we do NOT charge your credit card until after your order has entered the shipping process. Despite our best efforts, a small number of the items in our catalog may be mispriced. If an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.
This policy applies only to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Sellers may follow different policies in the event of a mispriced item."

I'm definitely not gonna get my hopes up. It seems pretty likely they'll catch this misprice before these cards get shipped.

In for 1, im a sucker for price errors and if I do get it, that's one extra part for my WHS build.

In for 100....

j/k..

Ordered 2 one to use, one to trade if they make it. But 99% sure these will never make it to my house.

DAMNIT! 10 minutes late! This would have been absolutely perfect for my file server to replace all of the shitty 2-port Jmicron controllers I have now. Well, if these end up going through, and someone bought an extra, I'll gladly take it off your hands for a few bucks more!

How is that 2720 holding up. What raid config are you running?

Brain fart - I actually have the 2680. Was debating between those two, forgot which one I had :p

Haven't had time to set up the new server yet. Work just gets in the way sometimes. Plan to have it running RAID 5 with 5 or 6 2TB drives for a WHS build. Have 6 drives, debating whether to setup with 5 drives and have a ready spare, or just put all 6 in and buy a spare if I need one.

Can't speak to the 2720, but have been reasonably happy with my RR4320 (8-port SAS, 3Gb/s) - only trouble I've had was due to the drive incompatibility (Seagate 7200.11) so I don't hold that against Highpoint. Driver/bios updates/improvements are rare, but support is responsive.

I bought the last one from Big WIll. He's sold like 7 items, but with Amazon's protection, I think it's pretty safe bet. I will keep you updated.

Keith

Damn, that sucks. I'm gonna guess he notified amazon and the other orders will probobly get cancelled too. I haven't received anything from amazon yet though.

wow.. Would be an awesome price if it goes through.. Not going to bother though since my current LSI card still has 1 more port open & thats all the extra drive bays I have in my server chassis.

Yup, it was $153.09 after taxes. I'm hoping it goes through so that I can sell it on eBay and buy the Areca card I actually want

Same here. Mine says:
