Hey guys so im going to be staying at a extended stay hotel for a couple months for work away from home. The internet they have is horrendous wireless. What do you guys recommendr wireless internet that can i game and dl on.

None. I love my 4G on Sprint when I travel but ping times are still bad. The best really depends on your area. Go see who offers 4G there, if anyone. If it's only 3G you're SOL.

I've seen some really good ping rates with our sprint cards. It all depends on signal quality and number of subscribers on the service.

I too would recommend staying off hotel networks at all cost.

Verizon, Sprint, or Clear 4G cards would be the way to go.

LTE has been pretty good to the guys on the road for us, including some of the players doing gaming and whatnot.

Not sure where the 3G hate is coming from. I've played World of Warcraft via my tethered Droid 2 many times and pings are almost always below 100, often much lower.

I use Time Warner's rebranded Clear and it's OK. I can get full 5Mbit depending on where I'm at. It's unlimited though, no cap. I've heard they do throttle very high use users but I haven't experienced that yet.

You guys know the "3G" and "4G" in themselves have no effect on speed? They're just different generations. It depends on the protocol being used. There are some 4G protocols that are slower than some 3G protocols, and vise versa.

If Sprint works good in that area and you do not want a long term contract and if do not have a droid to tether then get a Virgin Mobile broadband2go either usb or a hotspot. The reason I say Virgin Mobile vs one of the other ones is no contract. Use it for the few months you need to and cancel it.

Or if you spend a bit more up front get a LG Opt V from Virgin Mobile and root it and wireless tether from that.
