Hey guys,

New comp has been built, following specs:

i5 2500k @ stock (will likely change this soon)
MSI P67A-GD65 Mobo
HIS Radeon HD6950 2gb
8GB (2x4gb) kingston hyperx, PC1600 but for some reason is running at 1333
Samsung spinpoint 1TB hd
Windows 7 Professional 64bit

It's the basic version, no frills, just the benchmark. My scores were pretty low 4915 for overall score and I believe the CPU score was something like 5000. Also, it seems to detect my CPU as running at 2.2ghz. Perhaps this is the issue?

Edit: Would a bios upgrade for this mobo make any kind of difference, performance wise?

Pretty sure thats the average for that system spec looking around the web. That 2.2GHz is probably the idle clock on the 2500K too.

3dmark was telling me I had a low score compared to other systems. Perhaps they don't take into account overclocking...

Yeah that must the issue. I see higher scores up to P7000. Though thats with 5 GHz on the CPU and no idea what they're clocking the 6950 at either.

This is because the 3DMark results site no longer allows you to even compare GPU speeds - and also because the 3DMark program has trouble consistently reporting the actual (or correct) GPU and VRAM speeds. With some newer GPUs, the GPU clock speed is incorrectly reported as 10MHz instead of the 800MHz that the reference HD 6950 actually runs at.
