Halo Reach is the most comparable to CE, two thumbs up!

Finally another Halo I can believe in!

I was a huge fan of the original CE and would play awesome lan matches with my friends back in the day (I still have 4 copies that we still play on lan). Rocket slayer matches on Hangem High, Team Rally on Bloodgulch, King of the Hill shotty with enhanced shields in chill out, sniper matches on boarding action, puzzies with pistols only and no shields on rat race...and all out slayer on prisoner!

I didn't like Halo 2, the weapons felt awkward and cheap and the pacing was too close to unreal tournament for my comfort (The CE pistol takes skill and is not cheap). Halo 3 was better than 2, but I still didn't like the weapons...The AR & pistol were useless and the weapons all still felt off....but Reach has brought back the pistol & ARs viability!

After Halo 3 I was done with the series and skipped OSDT, but my bankrupting blockbuster convinced me to give Reach a try and I was pleasantly surprised. What an awesome GAME! I see Reach getting a lot of badmouthing but, I think thats because the halo community is split into two camps: Those that loved CE and those that loved Halo 2. Basically, it seems that those that love CE have Reach and those that loved Halo 2 have 3 & OSDT. Anyway in Reach I have found much of the goodness that was CE....Rocket Slut matches are back, RALLY IS BACK, and the multiplayer customizations let you do everything you want...As Sylvester Stallone would say, "aldhfbajajdrhieieuiabfvimmmmmpreeesssseed!"

Anyone else pleasant surprised with Reach?
 
I only play the SP but I agree that Reach is the only other Halo game in CE's league. It was just outstanding from beginning to one of the best video game endings I've played in a long time. Game had a real sense of Reach falling all around you the entire way through.
 
Reach definitely was my favorite since the original. The SP was fantastic, and as long as you muted other people, MP was a lot of fun too.
 
I really liked ODST personally.

For me it is Halo CE, Halo Reach, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 3, and Halo 2 last.

I was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting super mediocre gameplay and I was wrong. I was put off a little bit when there were no spartans in there but it was great.

Making me want to play CE and ODST again.
 
Not to mention, Firefight was about the best thing since sliced bread and dead hookers.

Remake of CE out soonish :)
 
I like all the Halo games, though some are definitely better than others. I would probably agree that Reach and CE are the best ones of the bunch, so I'm really looking forward to the Anniversary Edition, or whatever it is they're calling it.

I'm hoping more for the PC but my 360 experience was still good enough to give me a reason to buy it for that if it is our only option.

343 said there are no plans for a PC version as they currently working on Halo 4

Well, MS used a seperate internal team to port Halo 2, and Gearbox to port Halo CE. Both did a rather poor job, but still have hope :p

Halo 1 and Halo 2 both had the, "xbox exclusive" stickers on launch, too :D

But again, I'm fine either way :p My xbox360 isn't portable, sadly :(
 
I agree with Op. Adored CE on lan/xbconnect and loathed halo2. Skipped odst and played about 1000 matches of halo 3. I think I'm at 3000 online matches for Reach and it hasn't even been out for a year. I still hate the armor lockers and other AAs but i've earned to live with them. Did I mention the graphics are awesome for a 6yr old console?
 
wait...i'm confused...didn't halo reach come out a year ago?

halo reach's armor customization is superb
 
My wife and I have enjoyed Halo 2 and on, on our X360 playing sp co-op .. really looking forward to the redone Halo C.E.

My wife enjoyed ODST the most out of them so far.. I liked Reach the best so far.
