Google has finally made a public statement on all those Google+ account suspensions. The gist of it is "we screwed up" and in the future they plan on giving you some sort of warning before shutting down your account.

“We’ve noticed that many violations of the Google+ common name policy were in fact well-intentioned and inadvertent and for these users our process can be frustrating and disappointing,” Horowitz said in his Google+ post. “So we’re currently making a number of improvements to this process, specifically regarding how we notify these users that they’re not in compliance with Google+ policies and how we communicate the remedies available to them.”

honestly when setting up a service like these, when you want to do something to a user's account be it something good (an upgrade) or bad (a violation), you typically notify first your users about what actions your company are about to do, be it you terminate, add some stuff, get some personal info from you.. oh wait.. this is google... oh crap :D

'bout f'ing time they give some sort of bs reply to all of this going around. either way, let's just hope they do make those said 'improvements'

Any handful of non idiots has enough common sense not to run a beta like this. Makes me wonder who's running the show there.

Yeah! Beta is not for finding bugs and fixing them! Its for...umm...something else!

Not warning was pretty insane. Someone on my G+ got hit for having a tiny nickname in her real name over there, could have changed that little thing out no problem but instead, boom.

Google always does Beta odd... They treat a beta pretty much like live.

How many years was gmail "beta", everyone and their mother was on it during the "beta" phase.

This doesn't surprise me...

its beta and pple is bitching?

welcome to 20XX !!

isnt beta exactly when people should be bitching? if no one made it an issue, I doubt google would be doing anything about it now.

thats the whole point of letting people use it now, find the problems and make it known to google, who will hopefully fix it.

I say kudos to google for nuking fake accounts, or suspected fake accounts ... a notice would of been nice, but I bet facebooks # of users would drop in half if they did the same.

Even tho it says in the terms of service no accounts for avatars or imaginary people I know a lot of people with accounts for there secondlife avatar, world of warcraft characters, dogs, cats, birds, 20+ fake accounts just to cheat in games.

that's how Google does things. they release an unfinished product to the masses and call it a beta. this way nobody has any real gripe. your statement about gmail is spot on.

Gmail was in Beta for about 5 years or so? It's a good approach, but it is a bit of a cop out from google, calling it a beta.

Then again, if patents went through a 5 year Beta, maybe we wouldn't have as many frivolous patent lawsuits....

G+ isn't even in Google Beta - they are calling it a "field trial" aka, it's a real beta.

They've already been pretty receptive to feedback (such as gender no longer being required to be public), I'm willing to give them a chance to correct this issue, too.
