Thanks to the folks at Newegg TV, we have a seventeen minute video of the AMD Eyefinity [H]ardOCP Event to share with you guys today. Not only does the video feature awesome overall coverage of the event, upcoming AMD products and exclusive game info, there is even an interview with Kyle in there as well! :)

where can i get one of those amd hardocp shirts???

next year in new england???

friggin' bitchin'. Love the projector setup of the racing sim.

I loved the video.

The only issue I had was when the man from Asus suggested using two monitors for a 'limited' eyefinity. Wouldn't that be impractical due to the bezels being in the center of the viewing area?

Nice vid. Looks like a cool event. Pity it would never happen over here in Oz :(

Yes for games where the focus is in the centre. Its the same reason that 4 and 6 screen eyefinity isn't that popular (and cost too).

He did mention RTS games but I'm guessing for most other strategy games it works.

Supreme commander supported it natively on two monitors, using each monitor separately. Dunno if any others did.

gaming on eyefinity is awesome but I hate the fact that I have to break up my eyefinity group and resetup my screens when I go back on the windows desktop...the eyefinity group forces your desktop to act as one big screen (with the start menu on the left screen and the task bar stretching for the length of the three screens) and I just can't stand it.

I hope AMD gives us some way of leaving the screens independent when you're on your desktop and switch to one big screen when gaming...it's so annoying to switch that I just don't bother...

That is what I have been waiting for... some kind of not generic video of the event. Thx newegg guys. Thought I was gonna have to fly to alaska slap Steve around and steal his camaro then drive to texas with it and do a hit and run on Kyle!:D

makes me feel uncomfortable.....lol. I am still waiting on my eyefinity setup, have two monitors, but running my 4870 STILL! It has served me well, but will soon be relegated to my kids system. Going with a 2GB 6950 when the price is right.

Oh wait they work out more than I do. They would probably knock me out but I dont think Steve would hit an run anything with that beautiful car.

Just setup some hotkeys to swap profiles?

I love my eyefinity on my asus 25.5 in monitors 16:10 5760x1200 only running 5770x3 xfire. Performance has really improved since AMD fixed the drivers in the 10.7 release (I think) and up. I even got my Dad (65) on a 22"x3, 5770x2 eyefinity! he loves it! He has even finished some games before me. Like Far cry, Call of duty2 , He likes Crysis and has finished sniper, and most of the Half life series. He also loves eyefinity for Race 07, mass effect2,Fear,Portal, and need for speed shift! It is pretty sweet for flying games as well. I am trying to get him to play TF2 but we only have a 3mbps conn and the lag pisses him off

hey, i made a cameo during kyle's interview!

i was so busy with the TF2 tourney i didn't even notice that newegg was there!:D

Cool to see you there kyle... thanks again for the awesomeness

So that's what OCP stands for. I've always thought it was some soft of movie/gaming reference.

temp in the upper hundreds?? Like 170.. 180 degrees? Man that was friggin HOT! Paul must not get out of his Newegg TV studios much!

Was Cammy the only female at this event? She seemed to find herself in front of the camera a lot!

OCP means 1 of the following..

1 - OverClocker's Paradise
2 - OverClocking Potential
3 - Outrageously Cool Place
4 - OverClocking Professionals
5 - OverClocked Processor
6 - OverClockers Comparison Page
7 - Online Cycling Poser
8 - Oracle Certified Professional

Al/MajorDomo has said in the past that the answer is #6 although Steve wrote the following on Oct 31, 2002..

Our secret strategy was to name our site HardOCP years before Google came out, and then claim not to know what “The OCP stands for anymore”. That way, when Google came out…people who visited us, would have to search for what OCP stood for, making us the number one hit for OCP in the Google standings. Mwahahahaha!!!

I can't look at the letters OCP without thinking [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocd"]Obsessive–compulsive disorder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:OCD_handwash.jpg" class="image"><img alt="" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1b/OCD_handwash.jpg/230px-OCD_handwash.jpg"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/1/1b/OCD_handwash.jpg/230px-OCD_handwash.jpg[/ame]

Now that I know the origin of the acronym, I'll stop thinking about the mental disorder.. but I kinda doubt it.

Not to be all OCD about what OCP means but starting at 16:05 in the video Kyle briefly mentions that [H] started out as the "Overclockers Comparison Page" and morphed from that. To provide a little bit more background on this "morphing", I found some Speedguide.net forum entries from July 6, 2001 written by someone named "Brent" (perhaps Brent Justice?) who wrote..

HAHAHAHHA don't ask what OCP stands for

the reaoson is cause they ALWAYS get asked that all the time and it's lame now

it's now considered a NEWBIE thing, when someone asks it it means they are a complete utterly stupid dumb AOL newbie :p

same goes for [H] and the rankings

i'll explain it only this one time

when HardOCP first started it was known as Hard OverClockers Comparison Page

then later on some dude told kyle just try the [H] like that and Kyle was like ok sure, and it caught on, it became the trademark and Overclockers Comparsin Page became too long so it simply became [H]ardOCP "we don't even know what the ocp stands for"

and in it's recent form it's made like this [H]ard|OCP

Or just the [H]

to make it shorter, everyone now knows what [H] means, it's directly related to hardocp so it can be used and people knows what it means

there's ahistory lesson for ya on it's name
