I'm currently using a Razer Lycosa, but I'm experiencing all of the common problems for this keyboard (keys stop working, media buttons stick etc.). I really like this keyboard, but seeing as this is the third one that I've had that doesn't work right, I'm not looking to buy another.

What are some similiar keyboards? I really like the backlighting and the feel of the keys.

Have you tried or ever considered a mechanical keyboard?

What is your price range?

get a blackwidow. i have one and its a great gateway into the mechanical keyboard market. plus ull be familliar with razers software.

I was looking at getting one of these things cause Ive been wanting backlit keys but is this thing a lemon? Im a huge fan of Razer and would like to stick with their stuff if possible.

I have been looking into mechanical, but I'd like to avoid Razer if at all possible. I really like their products, but I've dealt with too many defects in their products, and lackluster customer support concerning said defects. I have, more or less, lost respect for the brand.

As for the Blackwidow, it looks nice enough, but I've read about a lot of common problems with them. From what I gather, a lot of them have problems with spacebars that either stick, or press the alt key. Also, I've seen a couple that have mixed typecase on the keys, or keys out of order (G and S switch among other things).

Nonetheless, I like the styling of their products. I've been trying to find something similiar in looks.

EDIT: For my price range, I'm trying to stay below $100, or in that area. Don't do as much gaming as I used to, so I don't really need 20 hotkeys I suppose either

razer has some nice products. I hven't bought any of their keyboards.

Blackwidow isn't made by razer as far as I know. It re-branded.

Also, it has blueswitches. If you play games that require a lot of double tapping blue switches might not be the best. It IS lower quality than most mechanical keyboards, but still better quality than a lot of the mass marketing gaming keybaords.

What is your budget, what games do you play, do you need macro buttons, can you live without a backlit keyboard or do you know where they keys are?

As far as I can tell from the Razer site and Amazon, BlackWidow is still a Razer product.

Around $100, mostly just TF2 and Eve. I don't need the macro buttons, but I like the backlight for aesthetic purposes

I just use a Dell keyboard that's over a decade old and probably beats most keyboards in ghosting. It's literally indestructible.

a mouse is understandable, a keyboard, not so much.

The Black Widow is produced for Razer by iONE, of course support would be provided by Razer though.

Go mechanical and never look back. I had a G15 before my Filco and I've not regretted it once.

This is what I meant. Therefor you cannot judge quality of product when it is just a re-brand. Its made by another company with razer branding on it.

I assume some one with both can compare the quality of an iONE/Black Widow to a filco or leapold. But from what i have heard the iONE is a cheap keyboard with good switches. Any other opinions?

If I had 110 bucks i'd buy a leapold tenkeyless brown from elitekeyboards OR 6gv2.

If you have the choice between a backlight and a filco/leopold i think the choice is pretty obvious.

well i own a blackwidow, had a g110, and couldnt be happier. i dont do that much gaming, but i enjoy left for dead 2 and counter strike source everyonce in a while, and it does the job nicely. in my opinion, black switches arent very good for fast typing. there kinda hard to press compared to other keyboards, and (not sure on this) you have to press the key down all the way to register unlike blue or brown switches

Not true.

The Thermaltake MEKA G1 is superb. Goodbye Logitech and keyboards for now.

I like what the XArmor U9BL-S has to offer, but I've gotten used to the 2mm keys. Between the Lycosa I have now, and my laptop, I don't think I could get used to the 4mm keys

It is 2mm to actuation, 4mm to bottom out

I have been using logitech g series and it has gone pretty smooth. any fixes have gone smooth as well. However the G9x mouse has a covered cable that makes life a nightmare. forewarned for anybody
