s1155 mITX MB where the socket isn't crammed between the PCI-ex and DIMM's?!

Hello fellow SFF'ers.

I own a Scythe Big Shuriken, and if I am not mistaken, I will not be able to use it on a H61/H67 mini-ITX motherboard together with a graphics card, because of the CPU-socket being so close to the PCI-ex slot.

I've been looking at the Foxconn H67S/H61S, which seems to be the only MB's where the socket is located in a better position. Unfortunately, these motherboards do not exist in Norway...

So, does anyone know of any other boards that can fit a Big Shuriken or similar?

That Foxconn mb is a cheap piece of crap. Instead of looking for a MB that fits your cooler, you should look for a cooler that fits your MB and use intel stock in the mean time. SandyBridge cpu-s are cool and usually stock cooler is fine.

All right, you are perhaps right. However, I still have the Shuriken, like the looks, and would like to use it! :)

Most of the mobos on 1155 come with the cpu next to the PCIe, if you cant fit the big shurikan there, i would just sell it, and go for another cpu cooler, the Thermalright AXP 140 can fit on the GA-H67N-USB3-B3 (and probably most of the mobos), check the following thread. But if you need a lower height cpu cooler, also check Scythe Kozuti Low-pro cooler (40mm height).

I've seen both the AXP140 and the Kozuti, and like them both. The problem is, the AXP140 costs $100 here in the ONE store that selss it... The Kozuti is only $40, but still, only one store (with a bad rep) has it. Also, I would think that the Kozuti has less thermal performance than the Shuriken.

The Giada board looks (lol) nice, but alas, no one carries it here... Does anyone know why the major companies chose to put the socket in that silly position? Less way for the signals to travel? :p

I don't know but it makes really difficult to find a board that has room for a decent cooler and graphics card.

But, can anyone tell me whether the Shuriken rev. B fits the 1155 boards with the crammed sockets (when using a GFX).

Finding a socket 1155 P55 motherboard would be quite the accomplishment indeed!

Ah yes, my apologies. I blame Intel for changing the pin count by one. :p

In which case, the only one I can think of is the Foxconn H67S but I see it's been mentioned already.

Thanks!
That's what I wanted to know ;)

Check out the sister thread that's running right now that I started right here:

It answers a lot of these questions. To summarize, the cpu coolers that definitely WILL fit are:

Prolimatech Samuel 17 (there's pics)
Thermalright AXP-140
Scythe Kozuti
Scythe Shuriken Rev B
...and I'm pretty sure the Cooler Master Vortex Plus will fit, though I don't have proof.
