No gaming, no CAD work or the like, but using a 30 inch Dell monitor, I would like any one that has experiences with a good but not expensive nVidia video card for internet, Word, Email and the like. My sig show the rest of my systems spec's

Thank you ;)

all you need is something with a dual-link DVI connector on it to support that resolution, and if you just want 2D (no gaming, you can get something like the 8400GS which will support your resolution: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127596

if you want to game no that 30", then I'd suggest a GTX580 1.5GB card, or possibly the 3GB version, depending on the game: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...85533&IsNodeId=1&name=GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi)

your post is a bit vague. there's a $500 price range.

You sig does not tell us your video card. If you're using on-board video, tell us your motherboard model.

It looks like you might already be driving that 30" monitor (it's already in your sig), and if so I'd like to know how.

I have the evga GTX 295 card right now, but its too much for my needs and would like another card just for the simple stuff and may sell the 295GTX.

Okay then, this is all you need:

Same price as the card sabregen linked, but from a more recently released series (which means longer driver support), and it has passive cooling. But you should shoot for something closer to the $100 range if you ever want to try and play a game ever again.

I like the GT430 Fermi for discrete video, DX11, low power, very good performance even to light gaming.
On sale for $60 or so, $20 to $30 rebates.

Thanks all. I got the evga nVidia GT 240 for about $39.00 but for some reason, the video drops out and has to recover from time to time doing some simple photo editing using nikons ViewNX2 software. Oh, well, maybe I'll put in my old nVidia 8800 GT card lying around to see if that helps. Just thought I would not need a more powerful card and the reason for the assistance.

Edit: The 8800 GT is working well, but still more power than I really need. ;)
