Steam Summer Sales 2011 - unofficial Thread

After mulling over for a bit, went ahead and bought Aliens vs. Predator. What the heck, it is only 5 bucks.

Where'd you get the $20 coupons from?

When I had a problem where I couldn't log in to the Crysis 2 MP for over a month I called EA customer service twice and since they had no fix or way to refund me my purchase since I bought it from D2D they issued me 3 $20.00 credits for the EA store. Now called Origin obviously. So I've been saving them for a time when a game I would want was on a nice sale and then I could apply the coupon code.

I was the same except with Bioshock 2...didn't realize this game had MP. I'm doing very well pacing myself this time around. haha

How's the THQ Pack? Apart from Metro 2033 and Company of Heroes I'm not really sure how the other games are...

If I buy BAD COMPANY 2: VIETNAM through steam, can I just use the key to activate my non-steam version of BC2 and play it? Will steam even give me a key?

thanks

Red Faction is decent fun, especially with the destruction, saints row 2 is like a gta knockoff, pretty fun, stalker is a very good game, just be sure to get the complete mod, and people say the warhammer series is a pretty good rts

I think not. I just tried to purchase the Vietnam upgrade, but it won't let me because I don't have BC2 on Steam (my copy of BC2 is on Origin).

Same, I bought it through Amazon (which I was able to register to Origin no problem but not steam) since I had plenty of unused digital credit there and Steam would not let me buy Vietnam.

Debating whether or not to pick up BFBC2... I probably won't, since I'm sure it'll just sit there and I won't ever play it. Have only picked up Kotor so far. Not a huge player of single player games, so it took a lot to actually push the button, but it was only a few bucks so I figured why the hell not since SWTOR is right around the corner. Guess we'll see what day 4 and onward entails.

I just bought the whole package for $9.99 because I wanted Vietnam and SPECACT anyway, so it was only like $2 more than it would have been without an extra BC2 key.

However, it would be nice if there was a way to add installed games to the Steam database to allow us to purchase DLC and expansions only if we so choose.

Wow that sucks. I was just about to buy BFBC2 Vietnam. EA needs to fix this.

Anyone having luck registering keys with Steam? Mine just sit here and time out.

Hah this time I tried and it crashed Steam.

How would EA need to address a Steam issue? Steam doesn't let you purchase DLC without the base game, it has nothing to do with EA. The DLC unlock code purchased anywhere else works with any other version of the base game including if you only have BC2 on steam.

How is Bioshock 1 and 2? I've never played them and honestly, the fact that it's a FPS kind of turns me off. I love FPS, but it seems like I've been playing too much recently (Crysis 2, TF2, BC2, Borderlands, etc.) so I've been trying to get other types of games such as RPG (The Witcher 2) and similar. But, Bioshock 1 and 2 are so cheap so I'm considering them.

Get 1, don't bother with 2.

Bioshock 2 isn't as bad as lots of people like to pretend it is (like lots of sequels). Like how people pretend f.e.a.r. 2 is horrendous and unplayable to painful levels (crysis 2 actually is). It is pretty similar to the first bioshock, so just veiw it as a mission pack. If you like the first, its more of the same, and for the price it currently costs, there isn't much "risk" involved as it's less than some DLC mission packs and is probably about 8hrs+ of mission (I never counted). Then again, it's always on sale, so if you don't want it now you can easily pick it up again in a few months.

I can't believe that RE5 is priced where it is.

Hoping for Assassin's Creed II to drop to $5 today.

Debating about Battlefield Bad Company. Would be an easy decision but I don't like playing online. Messed up not buying Just Cause 2.

Yeah...15 is just too much for a game that old that I've already beat. I want it but not for 15 bucks.

$7.49 is where it should be. I would not hesitate to buy if it were priced there.

Ditto. Me and a friend were gonna get it if it was less than $10. Hell, it was $15 on sale like 2-3 weeks ago and we passed then hoping it'd be cheaper during the summer sale...we were wrong. :p

2 minute countdown..

Why am I so anxious to see the new sales at 10am every day?!

I hate you Steam!

Todays deals look good

CoD4 @ $19.99, lowest i've seen it, of course I'm not buying it, lol

Torchlight only $2.99!!!

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is a good buy, i'm not sure how good the PC port is, but the console version was very good and fun to play.

19.99 for an almost 4 year old game... lol

Torchlight is a good buy.

EA is high if they think DA2 is worth 35 bucks. Witcher 2 is a better buy at its full price.

Such crappy sales the last couple of days. Oh, well I'll spend my money elsewhere I guess.

Bad day. The only game that really interests me is Assassins Creed 2, and at 10 euros it still too much. I already have Torchlight, form the games on the list.
So far I've made only one buy, Magicka four-pack yesterday, for some co-op play.

I thought today's deals were lousy.
Dragon Age 2 purchased from the Best Buy $15 deal. I already own Torchlight, Defense Grid and MW2. Two Worlds 2 needs to drop to $10 before I bite.
AC Brotherhood also needs to drop <$10. Guess I'll wait until next year.

Oh well. Saved some money today.

Bought Defense Grid + all DLC for $3.49 total, seems like it'll be a bargain.

Is Dragon Age: Origins worth the $10.20 for someone who isn't that big of a tactical RPG person?

I'm looking at Tropico 3 and Defense Grid, any opinions?

I love both games.
68 hours spent on Defense Grid and almost 86 hours on Tropico 3 including its expansion pack.

I think they both have a lot of replay value too.

I'm also eyeing 2 worlds 2, any comments? :) The online reviews aren't too friendly.

Its either that, or pickup The Witcher so I can eventually play The Witcher 2.
