League of Legends -- how many [H] regulars?

bummer dude... how you reckon trash-talking on the internet will catch up to anyone? lol
(i guess you coulda meant the tribunal?)

I use the ignore feature when i'm tired of hearing someone talk... it does its job well. Why go beyond this? Why do you feel you have to 'get back' at the person? Sounds like you let these "twelve-year-olds" actually get under your skin.

also, they're probably not twelve-year-olds, just people who like shit-talking.

It'll catch up to you when you get reported enough and it goes to Tribunal, you get punished, and then go on a multiweek long rant about how it's sooooo unfair. Not that I know anyone who's done that...

I "get back" at anyone who ruins my game experience by reporting them. It's a simple concept. Act like an ass in the game, I /ignore you. When the game is over, I report you. I then move on with my life and forget about you. Enough people agree with me and also report you, you get a visit to the Tribunal. People read your rants in the chat log, agree that you're a nuisance, and vote Punish. You get a little vacation to go find something else to do that you might be more suited for. When you come back, if the message doesn't sink in that your behavior is unacceptable and you keep at it, rinse/repeat, and you get a permanent vacation. Problem solved.

No one gets under my skin on LoL. I simply use the system as it was intented. It's obviously effective and fairly accurate. The fact that most of us have played 100s upon 100s of games without issue tells me it's working. The fact that it's only been active a short while and tons of people are already facing the Tribunal tells me that they're the problem and I don't want to game with them if I don't have to.

I don't care if they're 12 or 40. I'd gladly game with a 12 year old that can handle being part of a team and an online community. I'll also gladly report a 40 year old jack-ass that needs to go back in his hole and stay there.

Many of you seem to have the misconception that reporting someone and being unwilling to put up with crap from people means you're mad. Children, or men with the emotional development of a child, acting out doesn't surprise, impress, anger, or emotionally effect me much. I simply want them out of my gaming experience and if the Tribunal is the means to that end, I will use it to the full extent of my abilities.

If you don't agree with me, you can vote the Tribunal however you please. If I'm in the minority opinion on spamming and trash talking, there's no problem. If I'm in the majority, the message is clear: your attitude isn't wanted or needed here.

lol fuck that--not sure if any of you ever played wow back in the day, but imagine how much more fun that game would have been if you could communicate cross-faction.

It wouldn't have been. It would have fostered a twelve-year old environment instead of being the most popular MMO of all time.

I played WoW for years and enjoyed PvP quite a bit. I did Arenas, Battlegrounds, and World PvP. Not being able to communicate with the opposing faction didn't diminish my enjoyment of PvP in the slightest.

Fair enough guys, y'all are entitled to the way you want to enjoy your game. Myself, I enjoy the game for the game... but I also find it adds some fun flavor when shit-talking begins and you can duel it out with my opponents with words as well.

But what's with y'all and these 'children' comments? Call an ass an ass, a dick a dick.

You talk a lot like you don't care, but damn it still sounds like you have something out for these people who enjoy shit-talking (maybe i'm just misinterpreting your words--possible). I still see no reason why anyone who genuinely doesn't give a fuck would take their time to report someone in a game, after they're already taken care of their issue with the person via a /ignore command.

You also seem to make assumptions like, someone who shit talks does not have maturity and is 'acting out'. Acting out? you mean, acting out of your standards for their behavior? Fuck that, people have their own standards and could give a damn about yours.

Think what you want dude, but when i see someone get upset and I follow up with a well-timed "ubadbro?" i do it for one reason only--i think that shit's funny.

AFK's are something different entirely--this actually ruins a game, and as far as i'm concerned, it's the only legitimate reason anyone would would need to report another person. Filters and Ignores are already implemented in their game. /ignore doesn't fix an AFK.

That's the beauty of the system. It doesn't matter if you or anyone else hate me for using it. It still has the desired end result. I love it.

Also, I love punishing people that repeatedly say in the chat log "go ahead and report me, it does nothing", and then 5 people report him. At that point it's impossible for me not to click Punish. Yeah, I might even laugh a little. Hope that doesn't get umad bro.

You're a tough one to reason with as you're missing the point of my post almost entirely. Lets just drop this lol

I got your point. I disagreed with every bit of it, therefore I agree, lets drop it as we have no common ground.

OK I agree with the AFK part, but that's like agreeing that water is wet. :p

Just went 10-0-2 and then 9-5-19 with Jungleplank.

Love the Pirate. Hope they don't nerf him too bad next patch.

he hits amazingly HARD, and his Parrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrley has such a low cooldown it enables him to rack up kills and assists at a pretty good clip in team fights.

As long as you kind of hang in the middle while the front line guys go in, you're good to go.

Eh.

500ms and a skilled cleanse, I pretty much run around with impunity. Especially when I'm playing Jungleplank since I'm tanky as fuck. His ganks are just brutal. I love how they nerfed Nunu and then made GP better than Nunu ever was :p.

I don't really like him any more or less than I did before, since I already played him a lot and already liked him, but it's nice to not have people whine when I pick him now.

For some reason, when i feel like playing someone other than Jarvan, nobody wants to tank

so we have no tank

and of course we lose because of that

how annoying

I've grown so tired of tanks for that reason lol, so many times everyone will rush an ad or ap carry and leave tank up to you.

Tanking is just really not that fun imo, I grew tired of it in mmo's. I'm talking about the main tanks, like rammus/shen, etc, not off tanks (like Jarvan, garen, morde).

The main problem that drives me crazy as a tank in LoL are the people who don't back you up and blame every little thing on you. You initate a fight, or taunt someone, and then when their team pushes back yours runs away to let you die, etc instead of committing.

The lack of commitments in general is really annoying, especially if you play Vlad. So many times I've had a team member initate, they start to fight, I drop my ult (which increases damage dealth on enemies by 14%) and instead of pushing and fighting they'll run away and get scared, which makes vlads ult very very useless then.

When your tank initates a team fight, and taunts someoen/multiple people, don't freaking run away.

THe only time you should run is when he's obviously saving you and from a gank, etc.

Managed to get a few games in tonight, it's kind of fun but just 1 map is really lame, some of the players are massive assholes to new players, and despite the tutorials and whatnot the game is quite...noisy, it's hard to pick up because there's so much stuff all over the place and you're not really sure what effects what.

Found the balance to be a bit out, that annie bitch seems to be able to stun and 1 shot weaker enemies like the archer, it's completely crazy.

You'd have to play it a lot more than that to be able to accurately judge the game, lol.

the part where you describe some players as assholes is accurate though.

Players are assholes no matter what level you are. God forbid you have to choose a hero you don't have much experience with and suck while you get used to it.

Wow,
A lot [H]ard plays LOL huh?

I'm dieschwarzung on there,
My characters are Urgot and Chogath.

My Chogath build is slightly different than everyone else I've run into so far.

I am still trying to figure out how to best use/equip Urgot.

I'm diggin this game because of how polished it is,
Meaning, it feels right.

A comparison in my head would be Planetside vs any Epic or ID game.
it just didn't feel right.

I like playing as a tank.

Most of my game are Jungle Amumu. Starting to get pretty good with him and not make to many mistakes in fights.

I am learning Jarvan now for a OT/AD. He really is strongest as an initiator who is more tanky, and not a kill racker upper. Getting 20+ assists is fun tho.

But yeah when I play Amumu and we are losing I get blamed for everything.

The launcher is being finicky right now and saying unavailable, just leave it up for half a minute and it will work again.

the part where you describe some players as assholes is accurate though.

Yeah I've played it a whole bunch now, I'm nearly level 7, I generally have fun playing it but there is a few quirks that still really irritate me.

I find the matchmaking is really useless, it keeps lumping me with foreigners who can't speak English making communication impossible. On beginner bot matches I get lumped with players who cannot play and just relentlessly feed the bots making it impossible to win, and when I try intermediate people tend to be a lot better however the bots become unreasonably difficult.

I find the downtime is just too much, I spend ages retreating, recalling, healing/re-arming and then walking back to the front lines. When you die near the end of a match you have something like a 70 second wait to add insult to injury and then about another 45 seconds trek across the map.

But it is a laugh, been playing on my projector from the comfort of my sofa, it's a real sofa game as it turns out, only problem is the cat wants to share my lap with the keyboard which causes all sorts of mayhem.

I play as PrincessFrosty, for some reason Princess_Frosty was taken, the whole point of this name was that no one would have it, yet here we are o_O

Couple of things, addressing the above.

If you recall more than maybe 4 of 5 times in the course of a game (barring recalling after taking a tower for safety's sake) you're doing it wrong. Most champs played well can stay in lane 15+ minutes their first time out. Then you recall for equipment (shopping is near instantaneous once you learn where things are in the store) and either you have boots or are carrying teleport as one of your summoner spells, so getting back to lane should take 30 seconds at the most.

Don't take unnecessary risks and you'll last a lot longer in lane, and at that point in the game you're right -- down-time is very important. The longer you're out of lane, the longer your opponents have to push your tower and gain more XP while you're not there. That means (to quote one of my favorite guide writers) treat the opposing team like "slightly more annoying caster minions." Don't let them corner you, but don't try to kill them unless they do something stupid, like run right up under your tower. Harass if you feel confident enough with long range skills / spells, avoid their harassment as best you can. Almost never push out far from your tower before 15, 20 minutes, just focus on last hitting minions (don't auto-attack ever, pace if you're ranged to avoid it, just hit them when you'll kill them) and racking up those duckets (gold). Ideally you'll have 1500-2500 before you go back the first time.

If you have money for one after buying your base equipment your first time back, get a couple of sight wards. If you only have one put it toward your side of the map (top or bottom) in the central "river" area so you'll see gank attempts while there's still time to escape. Ideally carry another to replace that one when it dies. At your level wards aren't that important cause your enemies probably aren't using them, but they can be key to staying alive in the higher levels of play.

If you feel too slow try some faster characters -- Miss Fortune is fast as hell due to her passive (strut), as are Nunu (blood boil), Rammus (power ball), Yi.... I also almost always go +3 boots on every character, but I'm admittedly odd that way.

Eventually you'll get good enough that intermediate bots are a joke. I recommend you just keep playing PvP games, because the bots really don't teach you much after you've learned the basics of playing whatever character you pick for the match. I still use them to try new characters, but it's to the point that if I don't go 15/0/10 or better (often much, much better if we're talking an assassin type) against bots I don't feel I have any business playing that character against real people.

The non-English-speakers are annoying as hell, I agree, but there's not much to be done there. You'll notice they come in waves, and while it can be really frustrating to lose because 3/4 of your team are idiots that have no idea what you're saying or just ignore you, it can force you to step up too. Just try to stay calm; I'm working on that, myself. Another good thing is to group up with the [H] guys, though I'd recommend you level up to 12 or so just so you have some more summoner spells available and a little more experience with the game before "jumping in the deep end" so to speak.

Yeah that's all fine and well but the majorety of players do not play like that, they just run in and feed the bots, the more I play the more careful I become because it's the first few deaths that tip the scale for more or less the entire game, so I'm staying alive much longer.

The problem is team mates if they're feeding the AI then you either have to die a slow death by the computer gaining on you and taking you down, or you have to take risks, find the lowest level enemy and hope you can nuke it to gain yourself an advantage. In essence it's like L4D in that the team is only as good as its weakest player, it doesn't really matter how good you are if one of your team mates is relentlessly feeding the bots you're screwed unless you take risks.

As soon as the AI has gained a few levels on you, a lot of the characters are just 1 shotting you, and since the stuns and whatnot seem to work long range even playing as a ranged character like ashe leaves you open to getting 1 shotted just trying to kite them.

anyway its like L4D, you need to be playing with other players your skill level otherwise better players moan that you're crap and worse players doom you to loss after loss, matchmaking just doesn't seem up to the challenge of balance.

There are usually a couple noobs rolling with the [H] crew, and I'm not that great so I'm used to getting carried myself. ;) Just join [H]ard and tell people there you're still learning. I've found it's very rare the [H] guys will rage, particularly at self-admitted noobs. I've also got a couple of lower level accounts if you'd rather roll with someone your level and avoid dealing with level 30s because of team make-up.

Also, tried to add you to my friends list on there but it just says not found.

Whenever I'm in the H room people always want to play vs bots :(

Yeah I've completely stopped playing bots now for the most part. The only time I will is if I am trying out a new champion for the first time and want a bettter feel for how their mechanics work. After that, theres really no point to unless you get pissed off from playing pvp and just wan't to own some silly easy games.

I'm in the middle of nowhere and my connection is terrible (spikes up to 1 sec lag sometimes) so I've just been playing bots. If I drop out of a bot game for a couple minutes big deal. PvP, not an option.

Don't losses and leaves in bot game still count the same as in PvP games?

Me?

I can't log on at the moment, says busy. I should be PrincessFrosty in game.

Now I can't get the client to work. On my sig rig it now says "unknown directx error occurred, please make sure your card is capable of pixel shader 2.0 and you are using drivers from the manufacturer" or something very similar. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client. Same thing. Tried updating Catalyst to 11.6 (I was on 11.4 before). Same thing. I tried updating DirectX but it says up to date, no changes needed.

I can log in, start a game, then when it switches to the game client proper I get the error. Other 3D titles work fine.

If I get a leave for this I'm going to be pissed.

WTF Riot?

EDIT: Still broken after a fair bit of screwing around. I made no hardware or software changes before I got this error. Stupid buggy piece of shit.

EDIT2: Fixed by uninstalling, reboot, reinstalling. Only the client, everything else the same. GG Riot. Can't seem to get basic data corruption checks to work, huh?

I'm getting sick of the whole ethug thing. You know the guys who have to talk shit on the other team if they get a kill and whatnot.

Quit whining and just put them on ignore if it's that bad. If you're sucking learn to laugh at your own suckness. A little prodding and fucking around is par for the course. Didn't you guys ever play dodgeball in grade school?
