Hot deals for folders

I don't understand why it's so cheap?! It's literally taking everything I have not to buy it.

I wish I had the restraint that everyone else seems to have. I purchased one.

Now I need some chips to go in it. Any recommendations on the type of cpu to look for and where to get them for a good price?

Time to go read the SR-2 optimization thread...

Wow....

I have 2x SR-2 boards sitting here, and I'm tempted.......

Enjoy it :) Go find some ES chips to make it worth it! ;) Think that was the only one, so everyone else is no longer tempted.

BTW: Go here and you can search their clearance. Some nice deals, some others not so nice, they do have some other dual xeon non-SR-2 setups floating around.

It depends on how deep your pockets are. If you have ~$1000 to spare, you should be able to pick up a pair of hexes of some variety. On the low end, Gainstown quads can be had fairly reasonably these days.

Newegg has a quad G34 in the open box section. $508.00

Enjoy!

If it's coming [H]ome, he gets buy on the bastardly comments for at least a week...
Hell, I just found an ancient core (not duo) system in the garage, I might have to look at how much proc is can support... Every little bit, right?

Heads up for thoes needing a good PSU for their sytem.

Newegg is putting a seasonic 620 bronze on shellshocker at 1:00pac 4:00est.

No clue what the price will be, but typicaly PSUs on a shellsocker are a steal.

Yeah, its an S12II and the same internal design as you will find in the Antec Neo 620C and Antec HCG 620. As both of those PSU's are frequently on sale for this price or less, how hot this deal is to you depends almost entirely on your confidence in Antec's component choices versus Seasonic's.

Great deal. It would be nice if we could find a vendor selling SSI and MEB motherboard trays...

I have my 2P tyan board in a $80 (when not on special) Norco RPC-470. Fits perfectly and is just as easy to work on... plus one can add drives and stuff.

Good to know, I have the ATX-E version of the 2p board mounted naked on a Lian-Li ATX motherboard tray.... the Norco is definitely cleaner.

So its just the 4p's that lack an enclosure option below 200 bucks?

same. good case, and you can fit a 4p there if you relocate the psu.

Refurbished CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ for $9.99 plus shipping from CoolerMaster.

I bought 4 of them with ~9 bucks for ground shipping, $12.50 a piece for a great cooler.

I should point out that the 775 hole spacing on opposing holes for a single arm of the adjustable retention bracket will line up with the G34 mounting holes.... ;)

The 212+ is a fantastic budget cooler. It's within striking distance of a TRUE but at a fraction of the cost.

Agreed, I have one already that I got for $15 AR on black friday that handled a 2600k at 4.8ghz around 73C. At this price it is worth picking a couple up as spares for future builds given the robust universal nature of the mounting system and the price these normally go for.

Looks at his H60 that does those temps on 4.6Ghz and throws it out the window.....

Nice price, these are the older modules and don't have the sort of headroom that the Ripjaw X's have for overclocking but at this price who can complain.
is it really a great price, havent we seen 2x4gb sets for ~50$? seems like they're just bundling them together at the same unit price as a 2x set and expecting people to think is cheap because they normally gouge on 3x or 4x sets.
