Twelve Minutes Of Batman: Arkham City

This is the most anticipated game since Dead Space 2 for me. I absolutely loved Arkham Asylum and its one of the few games I've played thru 4 times, 3 of which were back to back. This may be the first game since Final Doom that I buy on release day.

I love the fact that nearly all the voice actors are the ones they used from Batman: The Animated Series. A real shame it'll be Mark Hammil's last time voicing The joker :( Whenever I think of the Joker I think of his laugh from the Batman: AA series.

Crap, didn't mean Batman: AA series. Obviously it wasn't called Arkham Asylum.

Curse not having an edit!

First day buy for me. I could see them chasing torrent pirates down on this one. As for it being console first yeah but on PC it rules with eyefinity or 3D surround

Do WANT! Asylum was one of the VERY few console to PC ports I LIKED. This one looks like more of the same!

Glad to see they use the voice of Batman the 90's cartoon series. That's always been the iconic Batman to me. In the first Batman game, I think they used the Jokers voice from the same 90's cartoon.

I do have a minor criticism for this video: the sounds when Batman is hitting people didn't sound particularly visceral like in the first game, where every punch and kick sounded like they really fucking hurt.

Just got home and watched that, looks freaking great! Looks like they changed a few things to freshen up the look and feel but kept the vast majority of what made it great in the first place. Story looks to be a lot more involved as well. Oh yeah, day 1 buy for me.

I like what I'm seeing. It looks more polished than Arkham Asylum and the art direction seems to have been taken a notch up. I really liked the combat system in Asylum -- it's nice and fluid yet harder than it looks (at least in my experience). I only wish Batman had more 'realistic' combat choreography, I'd love to see him fight like Liam Neeson in the movie Taken and it would have even more contrast with Catwoman's fighting style.

I agree with that. I know this is fantasy and all but seeing him fly around like a Jedi feels a little cheesey. That's what makes Nolan's Batman movies so freaking good, there's a sense of realism in there that you think "yeah that could maybe happen".

Still just a minor bitch. I'll still be in line on day 1. :D

Will it ship with anti-aliasing this time?

lol yeah I remember that ATI users got screwed in Arkham Asylum as AA and PhysX could only be enabled with Nvidia cards...I wonder if the new game will even use PhysX this time around

Great trailer and nice to see that Batman has some new moves. But I still think he's a bit too buff.

I stopped the video as soon as I saw the game pad controls show up on screen.

yep buying this when it's going to be released and that's saying something because I rarely buy games when they first come out.

Is it just me or did the dev team take ATi's Ruby and slap a catwoman suit on her?

Still, looks sweet for a console game.

Are you serious?

Batman: Arkham Asylum played WAY better with a 360 controller than with a mouse & keyboard.

This is the kind of game controllers are made for.

Looks like the Unreal 3 Engine still. PhysX is built into it. So, they'll probably use it. As far as anti-aliasing. Who knows. Does UE3 still have broken AA?

Agreed. I played keyboard mouse until I got that damn thing to open locks and it wouldn't work at all like the 360 controler. You needed vibration feedback to tell when you were doing it right. Sucked that I had to buy it but made gameplay on the keybaord laughable.

I had no problem at all with keyboard and mouse. Thought it played just fine.

And I also dont care that this is a console port. The first one was too and its one of the greatest games of all time. I dont care if its made for the Atari 2600, if its this good, who cares?
