Another Giveaway! i7 2600k & more!

You hit 8300 points yesterday so you are capable. Are you running them 24/7?
If you haven't yet, set up a passkey here and use it to get bonus points on some SMP projects. The bonus will kick in after 10 returned units.
After a week or two, if you still find yourself short of the goal, send me a PM.

Cool, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I am running the 8540w 24/7 and the MBP about 8-10 hours at a time.
The F@H gpu2 tracker gives me a 2200ppd estimate so I thought I was way lower.

For a test, I just stopped my gpu folding on the 8540w and am trying just smp (cant do both at the same time due to heat).

I will see how it does and go from there.

Thanks again!

D.

When I ran it on my XPS 14 (w/ a 740qm) I thought I remember seeing ~4k ppd from the processor and ~5k from the GPU (425m I think?), but they were run separately to maintain cooling. I would think the HP should be able to hit 4k by itself, so perhaps it is a bonus point issue.

I just checked my folding at home stats and I see that I had close to 5ppd so if that's all form you thank you and that what makes the [H] so bad ass

Switched a 480GTX over. Just let me know when you're back up to full capacity.

that is low for that CPU .... my i7-620m (2c 4thread) gave ~2-3.5k ppd.... :D

Damn, this team is badass! Props to those who helped thax out.

I have a question I am using the FAH tracker program and have one GPU running and a CPU the GPU is finishing the workunits but it seems like the CPU is taking forever and it has not finished a single unit yet. I am using a P4 3.2ghz machine to fold on when it is idle, I know its old but it works. Any ideas about getting the CPU to run more efficiently?

System specs:

P4 3.2E
Abit IC7-MAX 3
2GB RAM
Radeon HD4670

your GPU is taking the CPU cycles. That's unavoidable, unfortunately.

GPU work units are typically short and small point value. For example, my GTX460 in the rack cranks out 8-10 WU's per day. For a single core on the standard client, you're probably doing a work unit every 3-5 days. A 3.2 P4 should be getting around 100ppd with a GPU running... its just your WU's will drop every few days.

Hey all, got started folding in May, have a Dell XPS 410 with Core2 Duo @ 2.2GHz and 9600GT that gets almost 3k PPD total that's dedicated to folding now and my current custom rig has a GTX 460 that gets around 8k PPD, but I sometimes turn it off when it gets too hot in this weather in my old house with no A/C.

I'd totally dedicate the new rig to 24/7 folding for the [H]orde if I won! I'm a stats junky so I'd love to watch my name climb the ranks on the stats pages. If I don't win, oh well, I will still continue to fold!

Ok so glad nothing is wrong with the whole setup. Had a hard enough time getting the CPU to actually run in FAH Tracker it would do absolutely nothing after folding for an entire day.

Kendrak / DeFex, my air conditioner died on Sunday in our house. I'm left folding only using my work computer which does 2500-3500 points per day. The AC repairman said it could be up to a week before they get the right part (a compressor? I don't know these things) and our AC fixed. My PPD will suffer until then seeing as how it's going to be 90*+ degrees in Columbus today.

Hopefully my month average will be 4k per day and this doesn't disqualify me!

I think you should be fine. To be safe, anyone have a 9600gso or similar they can switch over fo a week for this guy?

Haitch helped me out. Gave me a shoulder to lean for a few days. The [H] community is a classy group.

SatTech~ You are[H]ardcore! I don't care about overall standing, this team is the bomb.

Thanks for the kind words.

If anybody needs a boost for the final push, let me know. I've got a pair of 480GTXs I can lend out. Just post your badge.

Thanks to Zero82z for the boost (and Team Obi Juan for a bit of a bump :)), it looks like I've qualified.

Can you taste it?

(I promise I haven't licked any of the boxes)

Just needs a dash or 2 of awesome and it will be ready to go

Ya know, you might get more mileage for your dollar with just CPU giveaways.

Pretty much anyone who has upgraded 'recently' will be prepping for higher-end Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge parts, so could easily take an i7 chip...on its own, just that one thing as the prize.

And an i7 is mighty handy for those -bigadv...

This was a fun but a bit stressful challenge. My hardware is from 4 years ago so it was a struggle to get 120K points for June.
