League of Legends -- how many [H] regulars?

Yeah, for those you want per level since they surpass so quickly. For a lot of runes though it takes a while for the per levels to surpass the flats and at that point I typically go with flat, runes make the biggest difference in early game.

When I bought runes since I only had two pages I set up one for general AP and one for general AD.

MPen reds
MP5/lvl yellows
Flat CDR blues
Flat HP quints

APen reds
MP5/lvl yellows → dodge yellows
Flat CDR blues
Flat HP quints

It's hard to go wrong with flat HP quints, 26 HP/ea at lvl 1 makes a huge difference.

I think I'm gonna play some Corki and Trynd when I get home tonight. I played as Trynd earlier today and bought Cloak & Dagger on him first just to try it out vs Avarice Blade, he crits a lot more, and he gets an increase in attack speed (Which he needs) paired with Berserker Boots, I started out kinda slow, 3 deaths at first, then I finished strong, rattling off 8 kills in a row before dying towards the end, so I finished 8-4.

I think Cloak and Dagger is gonna be a first item on some of the melee heroes I constantly play, i think it's a better item than people give it credit for, because while merc treads is a good item too (it has magic resist, and tenacity), Cloak and Dagger still gives you a solid starting item and instead of you having to dump your money into a ghostblade, you can get Cloak and Dagger and then focus on building better items.

I'm pretty sure this will generate some criticism, but I don't care, I'm willing to try something new :p

I'd have to agree, for the biggest bang-buck, I'd go with the magic pen and damage pen marks (red), mana per 5 and dodge seals (yellow), cooldown reduction glyphs (blue), and flat HP quints. You'll probably eventually want armor seals and magic reduction glyphs for tanking.

Then you can specialize into more specific runes and niche builds.

I found that the flat HP quints helped me a lot early game when I was still learning. You can take a few extra hits if you make errors and not die. They come in handy when tanking also.

They especially come in handy when jungling, that's where the extra HP makes all the difference.

I specifically mean that's what I bought when I hit lvl 20. I thought that would be the most efficient use of IP since it's limited and you are still learning the game and characters. You want something that will work with any character and setup.

As I've progressed I find that I typically use mana-less AD champs so I've been replacing my MP/5 yellows with dodge yellows. I need to get another rune page or two.

They especially come in handy when jungling, that's where the extra HP makes all the difference.

HP, Armor, and Dodge are all great for jungling, the later being the best (IMHO).

I bought Dodge runes as one of my first sets when I started, and I really regret that decision. I NEVER use them anymore. I'm using Flat Armors or Mana Regen/lvl on 90% of my characters.

Armor is a heck of a lot better than dodge for jungling., Kabob.

So is the best way to use runes, just to use the same rune 9x over to stack em?

You usually just use a single rune 9x, but that's not to say there is a "correct way". Many junglers will use ArPen quints and then mix a few attack speed reds in with ArPen reds to maximize jungling efficiency. Math, yo!

I always just use mana regen/lvl runes, but there are plenty of players that mix in 3-5 flats so they can spam more at lower levels.

Meh, to each their own. I don't play junglers so I can't comment, just going off of what I've heard.

Depends on the situation/build. Certain builds you're looking at hitting certain benchmarks for a particular stat. Say, CDR, to hit the 40% cap you might only want a few CDR blues and then make the rest mana or another stat. But "typically" people will stack 9x of the same thing.

Jungling is a lot of fun, but you really need to be level 30 to get the most out of a jungling character, that's not just because of masteries, but also because of the runes you need to be able to jungle effectively and they cost a LOT of IP.

Jungling has many rewards when you do it right and are not only able to jungle effectively but able to do ganking between jungling and team fights.

Junglers really prove their worth over the long run of a game if they have a competent team because they give one player a solo lane and enable the team to level fast as well as let the jungler earn money and get ganks on his own it maxmizes leveling and gold opportunities for the team.

My day on League of Legends is off to a good start, i watched some of Dreamhack and gonna watch some more now, but anyway, I decided to purchase the Vandal Vladimir skin and here's what happened my first game with it, LOL

Vlad is FAR from broken.

So many people are crying to nerf him (yet again, this will be three times now).

IF you are talking about his Q:

1. With it's shorter range compared to almost any other range character, you can EASILY tell when he's coming to Q you.
2. When he come sto Q you, dont' run away (this is the mistake almost everyone makes).
3. His counters are burst-casters and sustained dmg dealers.

Good counters to vlad:
Annie, Malz, Akali, Garen, Morde. Rumble, Irelia.

When he comes in o Q you, HIT him back and burst him with your dps, he'll endl up losing more health then his Q dmg did to you and healed him for, he'll then think twice about harassing you.

For example, when he comes in on Annie, hit him with a istun, then your AOE and an auto attack, all three of those will do faaaaaar more dmg to him then he did to you.

Vlad doesn't get annoying with his Q until lv 9, when he's maxed it out an dthe cd is short on it. However at this time is when you should be moving around, ganking, team fighting, etc.

If you are referring to his pool:
1. Slows applied before it still work and if he pools it will be slowed.
2. Aoe stuns work on him in pool (IE viegar's aoe stun)

Vlad isn't broken, he can just be annoying to lane against if you don't want to harrass him back and let him freely Q you without bursting on him when he does.

Any Noc players? I've been going Frozen Mallet for some extra survivability instead of Banshee's Veil. Good or bad?

I like Banshee's on him just cause it gives you insane CC mitigation with his W ability when you're ganking.

I agree with what you said, of course, since I've actually seen you play Vlad several times. A good Vlad player becomes good with Vlad when he/she learns how to use his Blood Pool move correctly, because that seriously is the difference between a good Vlad and a bad Vlad.

Just played a match today for the first time in like 5 months. I had never played any of the heroes that were on there. That was kind of frustrating. Felt bad for my teammates.

Whyfors and howwhys?

She's great, but you gotta get fed and farmed to get the most out of her.

You say that about EVERY single character.

Why I'm really liking Lux:
  • I have great lane presence with my E.
  • In addition to lane presence, I can put out some serious early-game damage with Q, passive, E, passive.
  • Roots are nice
  • Her bubble is stupid-strong.
  • 24sec cd long-range nuke. I can insta-clear two waves, or steal buffs, and use it before a team-fight to weaken everyone up, and again after to finish people off.

Are you going to get the Commando skin?

I have one skin that came with the game I bought off amazon. Some stupid kayle skin. Other than that, I havnt bought any skins heh. I would like some skins, but I am not paying like $10 for a skin when I could buy champs for cheaper.

Hey now, that would be the silver Kayle skin. haha, she's actually a pretty decent champ. Way underrated and underplayed. Pretty good support/dps

I don't like Lux. None of her shots are that hard to land, plus her range and damage is pretty high for a dps support.

Again horrible string of luck today. Only a couple games won. Tons of leavers. Tons of south americans / non english speakers who ignored everything, went hard carry on bottom, etc. Idiots all around. I hate the people that play this game. I try to play tank, they run away when I initiate. I try to play carry mage, they leave me to die solo or with one other in lane late game when we should all be moving together.

Better than me. I am currently on a 9 game losing streak. Thinking about stopping for awhile and playing some of my backlog.

I got banned today, so did ChestyMcRockhard.

I got banned till 6-23-2011.

The Tribunal system is really stupid, all a troll has to do is just click report on everybody of every game a person does, they can report just for not liking the person or whatnot, and all a person has to do is just click Punish because they are too lazy to read the chat logs or whatnot.

It's one of the worst systems ever, they are asking people with the maturity of kindergarten toddlers to dispense "justice" or rather "injustice".

Chesty has like almost 700 or just a little over 700 games played with 0 leaves, and he disconnected in a ranked game and they reported him for that, LOL, and so he gets a ban.

That sounds about right. After all, their tournament which had a prize of 100,000 dollars was plagued with game instability and match restarts.

you've aparrently never been on the tribunal before... it's NOT that clear cut... and you have to be a repeat offender, you don't even show up on there unless you've got 10 games where you've been reported...

also, if you have to leave a ranked, it better be a darn good reason: .... your house is on fire or your mother is being raped

OR your power goes out, comcast drops your connection, Riot's shitty servers dc and lag you out.

In Chesty's case, his power went out. I'd think that having 1 leave in 800ish games isn't something a person should be banned for, that's ridiculous.

And to the poster above who said "that's not how the tribunal works" how about this, we'll do 10 games together, you do and say NOTHING negative in chat, you don't feed, NOTHING, basically you follow the rules, but I'm gonna troll and report you every game for something.

Let's see if you get banned or not, how about it?

Well yes, I did get banned but I don't think it had anything to do with the Tribunal or the game that was credited to me as a leave (which is the only one I have on either account, roughly 1200 games played between them).

Saturday night the power grid for my city went down temporarily. At the time I was in the champ select screen of a ranked match with a friend (who also dc'd at this point), and at the time I lost power 6 of the 10 still hadn't picked. For whatever reason both of us were assigned random champs and the game continued even though it should've been the same as a queue dodge from what I can tell. My friend was able to reconnect to the game, but when I tried to relog (roughly 5 minutes after the intial disconnect) my ban was already in place. Even though 8/9 reported me following the match, this could not have been the actual reason for it.

Also, for those who have played with me before, I do often troll some in all chat, but it's never anything particularly offensive. I doubt I've been reported enough to appear on the Tribunal anyway, so I don't think it is a result of anything on there. From what I've seen of the Tribunal it has a few minor flaws, but nothing I would consider unjust... if somehow I ended up on there then I have no doubt I deserved it.

What doesn't make sense to me is that it appears as though I've received an IP ban. Not only can I not get into my account under this name, but my other account is also evidently banned and I cannot access the forums through the website. As a test I attempted to create a new account, but was blocked from downloading the client as well (I tried uninstalling and reinstalling first... reinstalling didn't go so well). I guess this means they believe I've been up to something pretty darn serious. I've never downloaded any supposed hacks or run any bot programs, so it's not that... not sure what it is. I submitted a support ticket yesterday but have not received a response as of yet.

Chesty, Squint told me you got banned, that's how I know about it, that's so bogus man. Good luck on receiving a response from Riot, they probably won't respond, they don't have enough staff to handle all the support tickets or emails.

The Tribunal IS as bad as I say it is, because you can be reported for ANYTHING, you don't even have to do anything, all someone has to do is click the report button after a game, and once that is done 10 times, your supposed "crime" is sent to the Tribunal for review, where you have these kids waiting on the 1 min timer to lapse, they are tabbed into another window watching porn, Youtube, Facebook or God knows what else, and then they click Punish, wait for the next case, and then rinse and repeat.

That's the "justice" you and I both received.

It's simply foolish to believe otherwise, i've played almost 800 games, I can tell you guys that the LoL community, while not anywhere near as bad as the HoN community, is just a few steps removed from it.

The email I got from Riot was generic

Greetings myaccountnamehere,

Certain in-Game activity on your account has been found to be in violation of the Summoner’s Code by the Tribunal.

As such, your account will be temporarily suspended until 2011-06-23 21:01:40.

The most common cause for this warning is either harassment or disruption of gameplay (intentional feeding, etc.). Bear in mind that the definition of harassment can range from direct, overt verbal harassment, to intentionally creating an unpleasant gameplay environment.

Nothing more than an automated message, it doesn't even give me the exact reason for my ban, just a generic response they email out to everybody.

In the email they also say that a Riot employee had to agree with the verdict before imposing the ban.

I don't believe that because of how automated this whole system is. This whole system was set up in place simply so Riot would not have to pay people to go through all the reports that are generated.

That's exactly what opens this whole Tribunal open to abuse.

I'm gonna do a test, I'm gonna add some people after every game to my list, and I'm gonna report them and see if they get banned, I'll know they got banned if I don't see them again, just to prove my point.

Some bans are scripted for leaving games or queue dodging, and they don't even touch the tribunal. You hit X number of game leaves + queue dodges in Y period, and you'll get banned for Z time.

Your accounts are linked (not sure whether it's by IP or some other identifier like a cache file). I ragequit a game on a smurf account and when I logged into my main, I was kindly informed that I still have a game in progress on the other account.

Also, Evelynn's stun is getting removed and replaced with a slow in the next patch.

I agree with people getting banned for leaving or AFKing or whatnot, but I don't think people should be banned for trash talking.

Yup. I'm glad. I rarely had a problem with Eve since I can ward and not overextend, but even if you don't get ganked she's still a game changer and completely changes lane phase for your team. I think the change will make Eve never played just like the last Twitch changes, but I welcome this since stealthing is a broken mechanic as far as I am concerned. (Not just in LoL either)

GP changes will be interesting. I've actually been thinking of buying him. Kayle is rumored to be reworked soon, which will be interesting.

Spirit Visage has always been a good item on Vlad, but now it's an absolute necessary IMHO.
