New Case from Lian Li - the PC-9F

Can this case house an Asus Maximus IV mobo? I'm looking at LL's PC-B25FWB and it seems to be very similar to the 9F.

Anyone have a measurement of how much space there is between the mobo tray and the side panel on that side, for cable management ?

One more question...

Can the case hold 38mm fans (instead of the standard 25mm) in the front, rear, or top?

-Thanks

Top is 140mm only, and the x 25mm / 38mm thickness depends on what else you have mounted up there. Same story with the back, except the back is 120mm.
going by this picture, I would say no to 38mm in front

I'm almost positive the 25mm fans butt right up against the hard drive cage. If you remove that I'm sure 38mm would be okay.

I am working on my case and will post some pictures of my box soon.
So far I've painted the interior frame flat black which looks great..
I tryed to take my time ..sand,re-paint,lite sand re-paint..and it came out great :D
Some specs 2600k,16GB corsair vengeance, Asus Z68 ROG micro atx.
I wanted to buy the best video card I can get..590GTX is what I'm looking at at moment..I like the look of the EVGA model..all black.
I've looked at the ASUS but the little touch of green would throw off the red and black theme :) I'll keep you guys posted..

Nice. I just built up mine regular. I don't have the heart to post pictures - cause while my cable management is actually okay its not really [H] level management. I just put mine on one of those Lian Li Chassis things and use it as an HTPC. I don't like SFF cases..bleck. I learned my lesson.

Just got around to re-doing the cable management since I got some zip ties and cable mounts at Home Depot:

@zaxour..hey looks good. Nice job
What kind of hardware do you have in your box??

How did you cut the hole - do you have instructions? Or do they have an aftermarket side panel that you purchased?

realize its 2 weeks old, but I love how this case worked out for me... went with Xigmatek fans all around and did a window with a 5mm piece of clear acrylic.. Not quite as good w/ air cooling as my antec 900 was... but that thing was full of dust inside of a week... Im thinking of removing the HDD cage and stowing the drives up in the 5.25" bays with rubber mounts or something... should increase air flow...

Also the 140mm fan up top with this board was a VERY tight fit... VRM heatsinks get in the way a tad... (gigabyte p45 usb3)

sorry for low res shots.. dont own a real camera.

So far this is the work I've done after the painting of the frame and added hardware..phone picture(sorry for the not so great image)

Of course still more work to be done..wires,putting back on the casing on the frame..But all Fun :D
Intel 2600k
Asus z68 MB Micro Atx
Corsair H50
Corsair vengenece ddr3 16GB one set in BLACK and one set in RED.
HP combe dvd/cd writer
4 Nosieblocker Fans
Silverstone 700 watt modular power supply
1TB WDC black Drive

I'm saving to add this little puppy to the mix..and i'll be good to go,,

LOVE the black and red theme ;)
When im done I'll use my buddy's cannon cam to take much better pictures...keep a eye out for them.

So I'm going to be leaving my beloved Lian Li V1200 for something smaller so it doesn't take up so much room at college and I am seriously considering the PC-9F. Just wondering if anyone has any major gripes about this case or whatnot. Also, are the stock fans enough to do the job (hardware in sig, running everything at stock atm)?

Those of you who replaced the stock fans, which fans did you get and what rpm/cfm did you choose for the bottom front and top rear?

Thanks!

Here's my 9f. I'll take better pictures soon.

Our setups are eerily similar :D

Just picked this case up at the egg for $100 shipped, used my 10% coupon to bring it down to $90. Been looking for a decent case for a while, almost went with a corsair but i cant pass on this. What's been the going price on this case?

compare to corsair 600t or 650d,what you suggest? i care about good airflow due to dual 6970

The Corsairs are more modern cases with 2.5" mounting, painted interiors, and better cable management options, but IMO nothing tops the fit and finish of an all aluminum case like the 9F. Nothing else will come close to looking and feeling as classy as this thing.

As for airflow, if you are willing to remove the HDD cage, it opens up a lot of space for positive pressure airflow to your graphics cards. Even with the HDD cage in place you will still be fine. The case tends to run cool in general because of the Al construction. :)

thanks,i know man,i use only lian li cases the last 6 years, even now with the smallest a05n,i run crossfire into this tiny case, and everything is good, but i need again a bigger one..

i dont care about hdd cage i will remove it totally,i use only 2 ssd raid,i need good flow thats is my point.
also do you thing asus rampage III will fit normal at 9F? its a EATX mobo

Nope, this thing is too small for EATX. Look into these cases instead:

strange..corsair 600t its supposed to be mid tower, and can fit normal that mobo..
i dont want to go again at full tower,i had before pc80 and i sold it,it was to big for nothing..

Check again. Doesn't look like the 600T supports EATX to me...MATX/ATX only.

Guys how is the air flow at this case? Do you think will be good enough to keep cool 2x6970?
i'm really very close to buy it,good price, size its ok,and probably good airflow

The airflow is fantastic. I have some mega positive pressure with a 120x38mm intake.

i love my pc-9f. every time i dig into it i find another thing i like. my first lian li and wow impressed this is what a case should be. i did a lot of research before i spent some hard earned coin and i though i was one of the rare ones that had this case. now i see a few more people have it and im stealing all your ideas ha

i like the case so far. love the cable management and the rubber mounted hard drive cage, althoough i am using an ssd only for now, so cannot comment on drive acoustics. wish the panels were thicker like my 1100 series case, but for the price i cannot complain. nice quiet case with excellent airflow.

very good job!,it looks also that the airflow is fantastic!
i was thinking between pc-90 or pc-9f

but pc-90
- expensive,no cable management
+ roomy,2x140 front fans

i will buy pc-9f,it will be alright for my rig

I've been using the PC-9F since they first came out and think it's a great case. Very good air flow, you can add a 140mm to the top, very simple, solid case. Also access to the front filters couldn't be easier unlike Corsair cases.
I just bought another one and they now have the 130pin USB 3.0 connector where as the original's don't.

Great case, I powder coated mine black, orange fans and used the top part of the hard drive cage off another build using the lan cool dark night, right now I'm playing with the PC-50 to fit the corsair H100 with 4 fans and 1 shroud.

here is mine,finally

i expected bigger, but its ok,its still roomy for that size.

On sale for $96 shipped @ the Egg with promo code!

Just noticed this at the egg too. Had to bite on it. First thing going is that drive cage that most others seem to be ripping out. Can't really beat $96 out the door.

Edit: I'm thinking with the drive rack removed the Corsair H100 may fit or I may just go with the Thermalright Silver Arrow. Hmm... Decisions, decisions...

Not a bad case, but definitely built down to a price compared to my PC-V1020. Which is fine given the price difference but I wish LiLi would have at least used threaded inserts for the side panel thumbscrews, for example. Will post build pic tomorrow.

Just finished at xmas. Good case, great examples on this thread =)
